Hope you enjoy the gig tomorrow night Hutton - should be a cracker!
The gig was superb Andy. Norman Watt-Roy was simply stunning. At one point Wilko's lead failed and NWR just took over until the lead was replaced. His solo work was immense, this man is a marvellous musician.
Troll-ish posts are subjective to the reader i find. Sure naivety (or having less experience of a subject) is likely to be provocative to some but surely the OP is seeking to gain insight?
If that is the case then perhaps he should have said he finds it difficult to listen to Jaco's music. He could then have appealed to the forum to help him to see where Jaco's talents lie. To use the provocative terms that he did were obviously not helpful.

I enjoyed the documentary. It has whetted my appetite as I'm going to see Wilko and the great Norman Watt-Roy tomorrow night in Aberdeen when they support Status Quo.

Can anyone throw any light as to why the American Standard Precision Bass is not currently showing on the Fender website?

Here's my three:- The Olympic White bass is a 2006 62 AVRI. The pic was taken when it was new in 2006. The colour has now faded nicely to a more creamy finish. The Ivory precision is a 1984 USA Standard which is a lovely bass and a joy to play. The Butterscotch Blonde is a 2004 USA Standard which fortunately managed to avoid the S1 switch.

This is an excellent bass at a more than fair price. The seller is very well respected on this forum as a valued member and someone with whom it is very easy to deal. To offer less for this instrument is quite frankly ridiculous. If you want something then you have to pay for it! Sorry to have gone off topic but I feel quite strongly about this. Back to selling - A great bass at a great price! -
Just sold a Stingray Fretless to Andy. What a top guy. Credit to Basschat!

We live in a small country. John O' Groats to Land's End is not far in the greater scheme of things. Our concept of distance is ridiculous.

I have for sale a rather nice 90s Stingray. The serial number dates the bass to 1994. It was originally a fretted bass but along the way one owner has fitted the bass with an EBMM fretless neck from 1997. The two go together very well to produce an excellent bass. The neck is constructed from a rather nice piece of birdseye maple as were most Musicman basses in the 90s. The fingerboard is, as expected, made from Pau Ferro being the wood that MM use on their fretless basses. Through photographic evidence and the marking on the heel of the neck Musicman have confirmed that the neck is the genuine article. The only mark on this otherwise unmarked bass is a few very small white dots which appear under the lacquer beside the rear strap button. The bass is currently fitted with schaller strap lock buttons. The originals however can be refitted prior to a sale. The bass comes with its original hardshell Musicman case and is currently fitted with Thomastik TI flat wound strings. I am asking £900 which includes packing and shipping to the UK. I would be interested in a possible trade for a Fender USA Jazz Bass.

I don't suppose the fact that Jamerson and Babbitt used Fender Precisions could possibly get you into the p-bass way of thinking?
The reason why I am not sharing that information publicly is that I didn't buy the bass directly from "him". Another player had it for a few months before I got it, and I got the information about the original buyer's identity from that second owner. I have no way of asking the "mystery guy" for permission to tell everyone this was his bass, and I think it is just rude and inappropriate to use his name publicly without asking first. That is the reason why I share that information with potential buyers only. Thanks for understanding.
Fair enough. hope the sale goes well. -
Even though Foals look like people I'd love to kick in the nads, I thought their performance was pretty good. And props to Ricky Lee Jones (featuring Dave Swift on bass by the look of it) for still bothering to get out of bed. I like her 'balls to everyone' 'tude. I thought everything else was abysmal. Don't see what the fuss is with My Morning Jacket. Terrible band, terrible name. And a couple of 'em could do with getting down the gym. Said the fat bloke with high blood pressure. I just don't think TV is the best medium for music. Too many variables.
I thought I had heard everything on basschat but I was mistaken. It appears that if you are overweight then you are flawed and shouldn't be on a stage. How on earth did B.B. King manage?
