Have a bump on me..... I just bought exactly one of these - Recent Stingrays go for about 7/800 quid it seems at the moment and the Sub is a real bargain. And whoever buys it needs to fit some black pickguard screws :-)
It's all in the eye of the beholder. As there is quite a lot of chrome round about I quite like the chrome screws. I also however like the look you have on your SUB with the black screws. Great basses whatever you do with them.

THIS BASS IS NOW SOLD I have for sale only (no trades please) my Musicman SUB4 2004 Bass. The bass is in excellent condition with only a very small surface ding on the headstock of a couple of millimetres long. This has been touched in with satin black paint and is now practically unnoticeable. There are no dings or scratches on the body. This SUB bass should not be confused with the current sub basses sold by Ernie Ball under the Sterling label. The older SUB basses are now discontinued as (according to Sterling Ball) the company were losing money by producing such a quality instrument for the money. The USA basses were made alongside Stingrays etc in the Ernie Ball factory in San Louis Obispo. The bass plays very nicely and has all the usual Stingray tones and punch. I fitted a Stingray satin black pickguard as I didn't like the original diamond plate pickguard. The original (still with plastic covering) is included in the sale. I am also including a Musicman hard case in the sale. I purchased the case new when I got the bass as I like my instruments to be well protected. The case has no damage and only a couple of light surface scratches. The bass is currently fitted with schaller strap buttons. I can leave these in place or refit the originals. Please feel free to ask any questions. The price of £550 includes delivery to the UK.
Some of us are sick to death of seeing the words "coffee table" too. But free speech being what it is, we put up with it.
Sorry, I didn't realise I was stifling free speech. I'll quietly just leave.
Why?
They are excellent words and really all that needs to be said.

Why don't we make the Fender slagging thread a sticky then all those who wish to slag them off can do so to their hearts content.
Absolutely. How dare they have an opinion?
Of course they have an opinion. It's just that we're fed up hearing it.
I've stopped chasing the dream, couple of bits of wood bolted or glued together with strings held end to end, its all in the fingers etc. I rejected two Laklands with minor defects over a flawless Fender Jazz so it's not so simple imo.
Agreed!

My Fenders are just fine. I once had a Lakland Daryll Jones. It was a nice bass but not in my hands. The Fender Jazz just felt right. It's really down to your own preference. However, just because a particular make doesn't suit a player is no reason to say that they are not good basses or that there is a Holy Grail bass just waiting to be found amongst the rubbish. Fenders don't suit everybody. That's just fine.

My son gigged a BTB 1405 for a while and really liked it. It is a great value for money bass. There is a cracker for sale at the moment over at Classic & Cool Guitars at a very reasonable cost. It comes complete with Hiscox case which is a very nice bonus. Tell Mark I sent you! http://classicandcoo...zbtb5string.htm

Parcelforce. I understand completely that the Highlands and Islands of Scotland would incur an extra cost. However, would someone in Exeter expect to pay surcharges if they ordered something from Inverness? Can we also agree that the Highlands of Scotland are part of the UK mainland whether or not it costs more to deliver goods there. This is a small country and therefore it is incredible that couriers make exceptions! -
THIS
Agreed. It's far better to get loads of examples. It's how you find out stuff you haven't heard before.
It might be worth reading post #14 before everyone just lists their Funk favourites.
Perhaps the OP should change the title of the thread to 'Recommend me some stuff in the style of Rock Candy Funk Party' if it has to be as narrow as that.

These basses should be preserved for posterity in the 'gear porn' thread.
