1. That is fantastic. Just marvellous!
2. Just got this rather nice 2010 American Standard Jazz.
3. Make sure you go for a USA Sub and not one of the more recent creations.
4. Well, after much consideration, listening to the great advice on here, and trying out both options I am going for roundwounds on the Jazz. I actually like the strings that were on the Jazz when I got it. They are Fender strings 45-100 with coloured ball ends. Apart from that I don't know what ones they are. It'll be fun finding out. I thought I might post up a couple of pics of the bass in question. Thanks everyone!
5. When I lived in Glasgow I liked Merchant City. I didn't like CC Music as I always seems to get a better deal in other shops especially if I was trading a bass. Guitarguitar however were the worst for trading although they were the best for stock. Again, like most here, Berkeley were king for rehearsing. It's also well worth having a look at Strung Out Guitars in King Street. For repairs etc I always used (and still do) Jimmy Moon in Shawlands. He also has a stock of very tasty second-hand stuff although it is mostly guitars.
6. Great advice here. Thanks everybody.
7. Ok folks. I am really a precision guy. I use TI Flats on my precisions. However, I now have joined the ranks of the Jazz playing public with the purchase of a rather nice 2010 American Standard Jazz. It is currently strung with a set of Fender roundwounds 45 - 100. The thing is I really quite like them. So the question is - should the next set of strings for the Jazz be TI flats? Will the flats take away the growly tone? OR Do I stick with the Fender roundwounds and let the Precisions take care of flatwound duties. Sorry to ramble but all thoughts on this matter will be gratefully received.
8. Do you mean like this: http://www.canford.co.uk/Products/43-211_NEUTRIK-NTP3RC-3.5mm-3-pole-right-angled-plug
9. Yep, I see them now and that is one of the nicest looking SR5s I have ever seen. Good luck with the sale!
10. You will greatly enhance your chance of a sale by posting some pics of the bass or at least offer to email pics to interested parties. Very few will consider a purchase without seeing what they are paying a lot of money for.
11. I've got something in Aberdeen in the New Year but don't know the date yet. I'll keep an eye on the thread.
12. Have a bump for an extremely nice bass.
13. I don't know if this adds anything to the thread but I thought I would quote from a book I'm reading at the moment. It is from an interview with Chuck Rainey where he is being asked if he ever got to know James Jamerson: "I knew who he was as far back as 1959, because the Motown acts used to tour all around the Great Lakes area. We first met at a huge concert in Ohio in the early '60s; I was playing with Big Jay McNeely and he was with the Miracles. Someone in the previous band had borrowed my amp and blown the speakers - so I plugged in and just pretended to play. Afterwards, James came up and told me I should have plugged into his amp, which was right next to mine. I appreciated that, and since then I've done the same for other bassists."
14. Oops, it has been done. Just ignore me.
15. Sorry if this has been already but Pino sounds immense here.
16. Mine would definitely be my 2006 AV Precision 62 reissue. It was a leaving gift from a previous place of work and is just marvellous.
17. Tremendous looking bass. Is this sale only?

Aberdeen bash?

As I now live here I am obviously up for it!
19. I love Thomastik Flats. Had one set on now for 7 years. They sound glorious and obviously economical. If they're good enough for Pino then who am I to argue?
20. Thanks for the reply man. I emailed Tascam and they have confirmed that I can use my old adaptor with the BT2. Just need to know now if it's worth it.
21. I've just found out that the BT2 doesn't come with a power supply so that adds about £20-£30 to the equation. I don't know if I can use the power supply for the BT1 as it has a different model number. Sneaky way to keep the price down!
22. I have an ageing (with broken lid) Tascam CD-BT1. I am thinking of upgrading to a Tascam CD-BT2. However, can anyone tell me what improvements the BT2 has over the BT1. I will soldier on with the BT1 if the BT2 is only an aesthetic upgrade.
23. I don't know if it's just me but there don't appear to be any replies to any of the topics on the 'Items Wanted' forum. OOPS! Further investigation has revealed the answer. Sorry!
24. It depends on what your idea of perfect is? A great sounding and playing bass for me is perfect. The neck pocket gap is irrelevant.
25. What's next? The distance between the bottom of knobs and pickguards? If my neck moves then it's a concern. If it doesn't then the neck pocket gap can be whatever it likes.
