1. I don't think that it is politic to pass comment on what someone is asking for a bass. The market tends to sort these things out. Can't wait to see the pics! Good luck with the sale.
2. I've gigged in 'Nice 'N' Sleazy' in Sauchiehall Street and had a good time there. Sound guy was very good if he's still there. Have a look: http://www.nicensleazy.com
3.
If you don't like how it looks then don't take the cover off. Or buy something else.
As i was reading through this thread the above thought kept coming into my head and then, lo and behold, there it was before my very eyes.
4. These S1 Jazzes are great basses. My son just loves his. Maybe if you posted the bass you might have more luck.
5.
Any bass I can't afford is overpriced.
Excellent!
6. I've noticed of late that quite a few quality basses are put up for sale without the original hard case being part of the deal. I must admit that the lack of the original case for a quality instrument puts me off the sale especially when a poor substitute is offered. I was therefore wondering where do all the cases. Does the original owner sell the case or was the bass bought without the case as part of the deal? Whatever is the case (pardon the pun) I shy away from sales that don't include the original case.
7. Focus was the first gig I ever went to in the 70s. They were just starting out and making a name for themselves. If I recall correctly the gig was in 'Clouds disco' which was located above the old Apollo. It was the first time my ears rang after a gig. I thought that I was never going to hear properly ever again! I'll never forget that gig. I did see the band a few times after that but the first one was special!
8. Sorry man. I misinterpreted your post. The head looks like the later type which came in round about 1985. I couldn't make out if it was the earlier or later headstock.
9. Is there a problem with asking for a pic of the headstock?
10. Any more pics especially of the headstock?
11.
Yep and they dont all have the artex finish either, as Stu g says above he had a teal one, I'd track down one with a regular finish, swap the pickguard, make sure its wired in parallel (or even fit a push pull for both) and put a John East preamp in it, flat the neck off with some 1200 wet and dry, job done
I thought all USA SUB basses had the textured finish. Are there some colours which aren't textured?
12. Great price for a tasty looking bass.
13.
Like a slab body?
Yes. Just like the rather expensive Stingray Classic! These are great basses. I preferred mine to a Stingray I had. The Stingray was moved on but the SUB remains. The fingerboards are all rosewood, no maple. Here's mine:
14. The OP says what the price is at Thomann for the bass but not necessarily that he bought it there.
15.
I'm with you 100% on this. The '60/'62 thing annoys me even more
Yeah. I've often wondered about this as well. I once had a Japanese P bass which purported to be a 62 reissue. However, no tort plate with the sunburst finish. No long stem reverse tuners. No vintage bridge. No strap button on the back of the headstock. To me it was just a Japanese P bass. Nothing wrong with that as it was a serviceable bass. Just don't call it a 62 reissue.

IMO

I'm getting fed up with folk passing sweeping statements and not stating that it is merely their opinion. An early 80s P bass for instance is for sale at the moment. It is made by an excellent maker and is no doubt a superb bass. However, is it really necessary to add that it is better than USA Fenders of the same era. I have two early 80s P basses and they are both fantastic basses. I'm not saying that they are any better or worse than any other P bass of the early 80s but to claim that the 80s bass for sale is far better is ridiculous. It is misleading to say so in the for sale forum without stating that it is the posters opinion. I don't want to clutter the post which is trying to sell the bass by making my point. This is not another Fender verses the rest post. It just happens that the P bass for sale post is the example I'm using. By all manner of means compliment a bass to help the sale but don't say it's better than something else. The next post down may be trying to sell the very bass that is being denigrated. It's not difficult to add IMO! This, of course, is only my opinion. Rant over.
17. The Nomad is now in Glasgow if anyone is interested.
18. I've added my tuppence worth by reporting to ebay that the listing is fraudulent.
19. Sorry about that man. It's possible I could get it down to London about the beginning/middle of October if you sell your amp.
