30 years old and mint as a mint thing Fender....

Good buy Jack. Eventually everyone will twig that the early 80s American basses are real quality instruments. They were the last of the Fullerton factory. And yes, they do sing! -

Yep. That's what happened on my old Walkabout head. I took it back to the shop where I bought it. They couldn't trace the fault and so gave me a newer model with the one input switch.

I should perhaps have said that the bass is not in Australia but with me in the good ol' UK. I know I'm far away in north east Scotland but anyone who wishes to have a noodle on the bass will be made very welcome. There are also another couple of older pics of the bass in the 'Gear Porn' forum under the thread 'Jazz'. Here's the link: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/127704-jazz/page__pid__1978819__st__260#entry1978819 -

Sadly, this bass is now for sale as my son has contacted me to say that he is in need of funds. It is posted in the 'for sale' section with new photos taken today (Feb 15th)

I am selling this gorgeous USA Fender Jazz for my son who is currently in Australia and needs the funds. The bass has an ash body and is finished in sunset orange transparent. The bass began life as a fretted bass with a maple fingerboard. However, the fingerboard was then planed off the original neck and replaced with an ebony lined fretless fingerboard. This work was done by legendary Scottish luthier Jimmy Moon. You can see his logo at the 12th fret. Jimmy also fitted a black pickguard as it was a better complement to the ebony board than the original white pickguard. There is also an S-1 switch which was a standard fitment. This bass has never been gigged and has been played very little. It is in superb condition. The bass comes complete with its original hard shell Fender case. The photos below were taken today (Feb15th). Price: £750 collected. £780 by courier.

Seeing that it's such a beautiful bass I thought I'd help you along by posting up some of your pics:

Great customer service - Sounds Live and Fender
Hutton replied to rushbo's topic in General Discussion
Good to hear about Soundslive dealing with the problem efficiently. Also ,good to hear that Fender responded in such a positive. Too often we hear negative comments about Fender service so it's to hear a positive one for a change. -
The 'Bass Doc' of this parish may be able to help you out. I would send him a pm and see what he says.

I sincerely hope that the seller is ok as it is surely something traumatic that has happened that would prevent him from sending a quick pm to explain things. -
As my son is travelling in Australia and New Zealand at the moment I am the custodian of his gear. Whereas I am a precision fan he is into his Jazzes. There is one of his basses in particular that I have enjoyed noodling about on. It's a 2004 American Series Jazz with S-1 switch which has had an ebony lined fretless board added by legandary Scottish luthier Jimmy Moon. A black pickguard was also added to complement the black of the ebony. I think it definitely looks better than the white original. The finish is sunset orange transparent which just sets the whole thing off.

I bought an SM58 mic from samuel. The transaction and delivery were faultless. However, we obviously disagree on what 'great condition' means. I must ask for pics in future.
I remember when blatant profiteering was frowned upon on this forum, and it wasn't so long ago. Blatant being the operative word. We used to be looking out for each other and flippers would be given short shrift. Are we not doing that anymore? More's the pity. Back OT, I hope this problem gets resolved asap.
Yes, absolutely! -
OK, so I'm in the wrong about flipping, I have a choice not to buy, I'm not going to get an original 53 P for the £150 or whatever it cost in 1953. My bugbear is somebody buying a P on FEEBay for £665 and putting it on here the next day at £1000. His 7th such move in a year. That is tantamount to trading and sorry, I find it a bloody insult. I certainly don't ask for mates rates. If it's just above what I think something is worth, I will offer a little below. If it's what i would be happy to pay, I will pay that. Thank Christ at long last I am almost GAS free (I need to get back to 4 basses before she twigs my world didn't end at three) Mean while, back at how long would you wait?
I'm with you on this. I don't think BC is a place for traders which is what it is if someone passes a bass on in a matter of days for a siginificant profit. -

If that finish is brown burst (which I think it may well be) then there is every possibility that this is a genuine 83 P Bass. The white pup covers are also a clue. However, the butchery that has gone on here diminishes my soul to the extent that I am now going to have a lie down in a darkened room with a cold compress pressed to my brow. -
I never get tired listening to a Jamerson bassline. Thanks for posting.
Metal housing instead of plastic, 200ft range instead of 100ft (Though both of these are underestimated), and 12 channels instead of the 6 that G30 has, and the G50 reciever has a more reliable connector. Liam
Thanks Liam.
As soon as i can afford one, there's a G50 going on my pedalboard.
What does the G50 do that the G30 doesn't do? I'm genuinely interested as I only want to buy once.

You see, what I don't understand is that if you want an appraisal then why have two threads? It looks a nice bass. It sounds like a nice bass. I guess it must be a nice bass. Whatever is going on then I reckon slab66 has got himself a very serviceable p bass that is a bit different.
