Sadly, this bass is now for sale as my son has contacted me to say that he is in need of funds. It is posted in the 'for sale' section with new photos taken today (Feb 15th)

Good to hear about Soundslive dealing with the problem efficiently. Also ,good to hear that Fender responded in such a positive. Too often we hear negative comments about Fender service so it's to hear a positive one for a change.

The 'Bass Doc' of this parish may be able to help you out. I would send him a pm and see what he says.

I sincerely hope that the seller is ok as it is surely something traumatic that has happened that would prevent him from sending a quick pm to explain things.

As my son is travelling in Australia and New Zealand at the moment I am the custodian of his gear. Whereas I am a precision fan he is into his Jazzes. There is one of his basses in particular that I have enjoyed noodling about on. It's a 2004 American Series Jazz with S-1 switch which has had an ebony lined fretless board added by legandary Scottish luthier Jimmy Moon. A black pickguard was also added to complement the black of the ebony. I think it definitely looks better than the white original. The finish is sunset orange transparent which just sets the whole thing off.

I bought an SM58 mic from samuel. The transaction and delivery were faultless. However, we obviously disagree on what 'great condition' means. I must ask for pics in future.

[/quote] I'm with you on this. I don't think BC is a place for traders which is what it is if someone passes a bass on in a matter of days for a siginificant profit.

If that finish is brown burst (which I think it may well be) then there is every possibility that this is a genuine 83 P Bass. The white pup covers are also a clue. However, the butchery that has gone on here diminishes my soul to the extent that I am now going to have a lie down in a darkened room with a cold compress pressed to my brow.

I never get tired listening to a Jamerson bassline. Thanks for posting.

You see, what I don't understand is that if you want an appraisal then why have two threads? It looks a nice bass. It sounds like a nice bass. I guess it must be a nice bass. Whatever is going on then I reckon slab66 has got himself a very serviceable p bass that is a bit different.

That was one of the early walkabout scouts. It has sockets for passive and active as opposed to a switch. I had one of these and had problems with it as did many folk who had early models. Mine was evenutally replaced by a brand new model which has been just hunky-dory ever since. So don't worry about missing this combo, it may have a problem anyway. Feel better?

It is very heavy. However, it is fitted with wheels which makes moving it around a bit easier.

I found this rather nice 2x12 combo lurking in a corner underneath the stage in my church hall. Goodness knows how long it's been there. Nobody seems to know anything about how it got there. So, I have no problem in putting into action that old saying: 'Finders keepers....' It's a product of the Maine Electronics Company of England. It calls itself the Miane 12/60 Bass. I am therefore assuming it is 60 watts.The photos are really self-explanatory. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the footswitch with it. I'm wondering if another typr of footswitch would work with it? The three sockets on the back are: External speaker. Internal Speaker? and Booster?. I've plugged in a precision and it is mighty powerful. As you would expect the controls are a bit crackly which already are begiinning to sound better the more they are used. I have to admit that I like the sound I'm getting from this thing, It's very growly, not best suited perhaps for the Blues. However, that is only after noodling about a bit this afternoon. As time goes on I'll mess around with it to see what sounds I can get. I was wondering if anybody has any experience of these combos. It would be great to hear from you.
