1. Can I ask why you are using a courier that discriminates against parts of the UK?
2. I don't believe one of my heroes is on basschat. What a nice guy he is as well as a great player.
3. Collection only could be your problem. You very much limit potential purchasers by insisting on home collection. It's not difficult to post a bass.
4. Fender USA really produced some nice insruments during the early 80s. Quality had definitely returned. I have two precisions from this era and they are superb. All the best with the sale of a very nice Jazz.
5. This bass is a thing of beauty. I hope that there's not going to be any regrets in a few years time like when you wake up in a cold sweat screaming: "Why did I sell my RD" Seriously, I wish you all the best in selling this gorgeous bass. I just wish I was in funds.
6. Sold a rather nice Rickenbaker 4001 to Rob (Fazziebear). Rob doesn't have many posts on here but the transaction was pleasant, friendly and just the way it should be. Basschatters can have complete confidence in all dealings with Rob.
7.
Sorry for the diversion. In all honesty the date (and location) of manufacture of a particular bass is neither here nor there. If it feels and sounds good to you, then it IS good and if you like it enough then you should buy it. It doesn't matter one jot what "round the campfire" talk exists about certain periods of production. I highly doubt that anyone here has sufficient overview of the entire output of Fender from a certain era and location in order to make overall judgements applicable to the entirety of it.
This is one of the best things I've read in a long time. This just doesn't apply to fender basses but to the whole lot of them!
8. Can someone shed a bit of light on this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Precision-Bass-Guitar-in-Good-Working-Order-with-new-strings-/170910638915?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item27cb116343
9. Whatever else we may be thinking he has sold it for £207. Not bad eh?
10. Does anyone fancy this Gotoh 201 Bridge in Chrome. It comes supplied with fixing screws. It is a direct replacement for a Fender bridge. The bridge was bought for a project but not used. It was screwed on to a precision body briefly but wasn't strung up. A vintage bridge was used instead. The bridge is in 'as new' condition. £30 including posting to the UK.
11.
BTW, I love that colour with the white guard, beautiful. Is it the same colour under the guard, or is it a very aged Oly white?
It does look nice. The colour is ivory and was one of the standard colours at the time.
12.
Already happening, really nice examples of '82 Fullertons (Guitars more than basses, but they will follow), with V00 serials, and all the case candy, in custom colours, are already being marketed at $4000, well over double what they were two years ago even! Thats because the majority can no longer afford the pre-CBS stuff, the same as with 70's stuff, as you said earlier. The added bonus, is that the Fullertons (Earluy ones) are also great guitars, not just collectors pieces. (Not as good as the '82 JV's eh Luke, but still good!) Here's a fine one, $3800 anyone? http://www.gbase.com...-1982-reissue-1
I'm interested to read what Rick says about the '82' Fullertons. I have an 84 precision that would go along with the strat in the picture. I have another precision which is an 83. They are the USA standard offering of the time. I like them for the looks but also for the quality of the instrument. The 82-85 standard series also seemed to me to have their own character as opposed to being a reissue of a former model. It would be nice to think that they will rise in value but I bought them as playing instruments and not as investments. 13. Come on own up. Who's made a bid for it?
14. Nothing is happening here for me my friend. The link doesn't seem to be working. You have also posted this up twice I think.
