1.
p.s. pedant alert - "which strings"
Sorry. Now sorted.
2.
I put a set of TI's on it myself when I first got it, Hutton and they sounded great. Try playing just off the neck pup, too and eq'ing to taste on the pre-amp'.
That's good to know Ian. I think I'm so used to the TI's, and like them a lot, that I want to see what they're like on the Streamer. I reckon I'm just not used to the Elixirs but am more than happy to give them a chance. Thanks also for your advice Chrismuzz. I've often heard that Flats sound great on a MM. Mind you as Davo says perhaps I should keep one with rounds.
3. The subject of string choice has been meandering round my mind so I thought I would commit it to a topic and see what happens. I tend to really like TI flatwounds. I have them on my precisions and have put them on my newly acquired Warwick Corvette Fretless. A Warwick Streamer LX recently came my way with Elixirs on it which I am finding very 'zingy'. Now, is it me just being so used to Flats that makes me want to put them on the Streamer or should I give another type of string a chance? Will a Steamer sound strange with Flats or is it all in the ear of the beholder? I have an EBMM SUB which I think is just fine with Rounds so I'm not a slave to Flats. Mind you, I wonder what the SUB would sound like with Flats. The other thought is with having five basses should I have them all with Flats? So you see it is a bit of mind rambling here but if anyone wants to join in or tell me I'm a silly bugger please do so.
4. Thanks Matt. It's always good to get things confirmed.

This is my 1978 Martin D28. I am the original owner. I bought the guitar at Sudbury Music in Sheffiled and it cost me £525. The guitar has aged along with me and I have to say that the Martin just keeps getting better and better - unlike me!
6.
Here's a chart from the G&L forum listing allen key sizes. http://guitarsbyleo....c.php?f=13&t=43 For Tribute models refer to the metric table. According to this the trussrod is 4mm.
Thanks muchly!
7. Thanks Matt. Much appreciated.
8. Does anyone know the size of allen key which will fit the saddles on a G&L Tribute L2500?
9.
Funny , this bass reminds me that i saw it somewhere ...
Yep. You saw it on the Warwick forum.
10. Thanks for your kind comments Michael. The Streamer and the Fretless are both coming along fine. I just need to put the hours in with them. I'm glad to hear that you're still working at the bass methods and whatever may develop from that. Keep me posted!
11. After obtaining my first Warwick (Corvette Fretless - see above) I really wanted to score another. I did a trade with a fellow chatter for this rather nice Streamer LX4. 12. Conclusion to story - He's bought a G&L Tribute L2500 from Oz eBay. It was practically new and he was able to do a local pickup. All's well that ends well.
13. Thanks for the posts chaps. My son is in Melbourne for a year and is looking for bassplaying work. He is really intending to buy a bass there and then sell it before he comes home. I was just wondering if it would be worth sending him out one of his own basses from here. Buying a bass in Melbourne is probably going to be his best bet.
14. Does anyone have any idea of how much it costs to ship a bass to OZ? Anyone done it?
15.
That sucks. It would indeed seem that Moray (which by rights should be under the Inverness postcode) bizarrely sits bang on the point where 3 postcode zones converge, one of which is our more civilised AB zone. Still given their profession the courier should be going by postcode and AB means Aberdeenshire and not the Highlands.
Moray is definitely not Highlands. And even if it was it is still UK mainland. To be told you are not in the UK mainland is ridiculous. As I stay in Moray and have an AB postcode I have got well fed up with couriers thinking we live in Greenland. FEDEX delivered to me this week no problem so it's only some couriers who have decided that we are too far away. A company in Newcastle decided that we were too far away yet admitted that Cornwall wasn't. The guy just didn't realise that Moray is closer to him than Cornwall. No wonder Alex Salmond is winning his independence argument!
16. This has already been done. Obviously it's not historic or desirable enough. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/168550-norman-watt-roys-bass/
17.
Sell the Badass (which contrary to popular bass folklore, adds next to nothing to the tone) and upgrade your pups with the proceeds.
Agree totally. Never liked the look of that large chunk of metal anyway.
18. Have a look in the 'for sale' forums here. Your fellow basschatters will give the lowdown on the P bass that they are selling. You will also get full value for your money. Apart from this have a look at the Squier Classic Vibe or Vintage Modified P basses. They are superb value for your money.
19. I saw Segovia play when he was 96! He had to have his guitar carried on by someone else. He had to stop a few times as his memory was letting him down. Did I care? No I didn't. I would have paid the ticket money just to see him walk on stage and take a bow. He died not long afterwards. I think we should cut the older guys a bit of slack. They've paid their dues and given great pleasure to thousands of people. Good on them I say.
20. 'The Night Before' is one that is often forgotten but it's a cracker.
21.
Hi Hutton, I have one of these at work and they are brilliant! http://www.csi-produ...city-p-353.html Fold flat for easy transportation with a fair sized base (as in bass not crass http://basschat.co.u...2-bass-or-base/) for your gear. What's not to like
Thanks Andy. I'll check it out.
22. Thanks muchly Mog. That's a good link and not just for the trolley.
23. The auction came to an end yesterday because "the item is no longer available".
24. Thanks for the replies everybody. Very helpful and much appreciated. I think I can now cancel the order for the truss!
25. I've contacted him to ask if he typed the starting price incorrectly.
