Funny , this bass reminds me that i saw it somewhere ...
Yep. You saw it on the Warwick forum.

Thanks for your kind comments Michael. The Streamer and the Fretless are both coming along fine. I just need to put the hours in with them. I'm glad to hear that you're still working at the bass methods and whatever may develop from that. Keep me posted!

After obtaining my first Warwick (Corvette Fretless - see above) I really wanted to score another. I did a trade with a fellow chatter for this rather nice Streamer LX4. Conclusion to story - He's bought a G&L Tribute L2500 from Oz eBay. It was practically new and he was able to do a local pickup. All's well that ends well.

Thanks for the posts chaps. My son is in Melbourne for a year and is looking for bassplaying work. He is really intending to buy a bass there and then sell it before he comes home. I was just wondering if it would be worth sending him out one of his own basses from here. Buying a bass in Melbourne is probably going to be his best bet.

Does anyone have any idea of how much it costs to ship a bass to OZ? Anyone done it?
That sucks. It would indeed seem that Moray (which by rights should be under the Inverness postcode) bizarrely sits bang on the point where 3 postcode zones converge, one of which is our more civilised AB zone. Still given their profession the courier should be going by postcode and AB means Aberdeenshire and not the Highlands.
Moray is definitely not Highlands. And even if it was it is still UK mainland. To be told you are not in the UK mainland is ridiculous. As I stay in Moray and have an AB postcode I have got well fed up with couriers thinking we live in Greenland. FEDEX delivered to me this week no problem so it's only some couriers who have decided that we are too far away. A company in Newcastle decided that we were too far away yet admitted that Cornwall wasn't. The guy just didn't realise that Moray is closer to him than Cornwall. No wonder Alex Salmond is winning his independence argument!

OMG, your own little piece of history for only 9 grand!
Hutton replied to captain black's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
This has already been done. Obviously it's not historic or desirable enough. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/168550-norman-watt-roys-bass/ -
Sell the Badass (which contrary to popular bass folklore, adds next to nothing to the tone) and upgrade your pups with the proceeds.
Agree totally. Never liked the look of that large chunk of metal anyway.

Have a look in the 'for sale' forums here. Your fellow basschatters will give the lowdown on the P bass that they are selling. You will also get full value for your money. Apart from this have a look at the Squier Classic Vibe or Vintage Modified P basses. They are superb value for your money.

So I went to see Jack Bruce & His Big Blues Band Last Night...
Hutton replied to Schnozzalee's topic in General Discussion
I saw Segovia play when he was 96! He had to have his guitar carried on by someone else. He had to stop a few times as his memory was letting him down. Did I care? No I didn't. I would have paid the ticket money just to see him walk on stage and take a bow. He died not long afterwards. I think we should cut the older guys a bit of slack. They've paid their dues and given great pleasure to thousands of people. Good on them I say. -
Best Beatles song to play in a pub band?

'The Night Before' is one that is often forgotten but it's a cracker. -
Hi Hutton, I have one of these at work and they are brilliant! http://www.csi-produ...city-p-353.html Fold flat for easy transportation with a fair sized base (as in bass not crass http://basschat.co.u...2-bass-or-base/) for your gear. What's not to like
Thanks Andy. I'll check it out.

Someone buy this bargain of a mexican p bass
Hutton replied to kevbass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The auction came to an end yesterday because "the item is no longer available". -
Thanks for the replies everybody. Very helpful and much appreciated. I think I can now cancel the order for the truss!

Hutton replied to kevbass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I've contacted him to ask if he typed the starting price incorrectly. -
I've got a new PA which has powered speakers, monitors, and bass bins. All this has to be lugged on gig night along with the usual paraphenalia of amps, cabs etc. Can anyone recommend a decent wheeled trolley for loading gear into venues before this old man kills himself. I've looked at a few online but wondered if anyone had found one that was just the ticket.
Far from it man. There are no shortage of 'rays on the market for us to choose from. It wasn't so long ago that the prices plummeted to a staggering £550 for a perfectly decent bog standard 'ray... a year later average prices had risen to £750. The worst of it is that many other brands in the same price bracket do not depreciate in the same way as 'rays do. Maybe due to the fact that they are so Marmitey - those who love them (myself included) really love them and those that don't really don't... making it a buyers market for 'rays.
I see your point Rich. Why spend £900 on a nearly new Ray when you can get one in as good a condition for a good few hundred quid less even although the bass is practically new. Shame though.
-
OK. I hear what you're saying about the market and I accept that. It is obviously not a good time to buy a new instrument unless you plan to keep it for a long time. If you do buy and then want to sell quickly you have to expect to take a massive hit. I just hope some folk buy new instruments and hold on to them or we won't have any to buy second hand.
-
Well rays normally seem to go for £600-£750 on this forum depending on which shade of ugly they are. So £900 is above market rate.
But this Ray is new. There are probably some sold as new which have been played more in the shop. It's only my opinion but to expect to pay half of the new price on a bass like this is disgusting.
-
This is a bass that is about £1300 new. It's only been played once or twice and it's the colour you want. You've been offered it for £900. I don't understand what price you are going to put on it.

My trusty Fender book shows the three screw bridge as per my pic above as being introduced on Jazzes in 1983. As both Jazzes and Precisions seem always to get the same bridges then I would expect three screw bridges to appear on Precisions of the same time. These machine heads on the ebay bass are also correctas they were introduced on American Standard instruments from 1983 on. The elites had similar mchine heads but can be differentiated by a thicker style of button.
-
Everything looks fine to me. If it didn't have a three screw bridge I would be suspicious. Here's mine:-

I didn't know that you wanted photos as well. Here's my Corvette strung with TI Flats.
