1. When I put together a precision for my son I installed the Fender Original Pickup as I believe it is the same pickup that is in my 62 reissue and that sounds great. The pickup sounded marvellous in the 'bitsa' bass - very old school. Hope it helps Michael.
2. Hi. Welcome to the forum. Your title says that the jazz is for trade and then your next post says it is for sale. If the bass is for sale then forum rules state that you have to name a price. All the best!
3. I recently acquired a Warwick Corvette fretless after quite some time of wondering how on earth you play fretless. Anyway, after some great advice from Linus27 (Michael) I have started to get to grips with the beastie. It's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I'm a happy camper.
4. This is a stunning looking bass. I'm sure it plays just as well as it looks. Unfortunately, I don't have any funds at present but someone who has can trust John implicitly. The man has great feedback so buy in confidence.
5. Who knows? These VMJ Squiers may be commanding large prices in 30 years time. If the logo has been changed it may devalue the bass. The market is a strange thing at the best of times. On the other hand it's your bass so I say do what you like with it. Mind you they do say you should play your Squier with pride. I just don't know. If it was mine I would leave it the way it is. But it's not mine so go ahead and change it with all the blessings of the decal gods. I should get the prize for the most unhelpful post ever!
6. Dusty Hill is great as are ZZ Top. I just don't like this bass and certainly not its price tag. I just don't get the upside down headstock thing!
7. God bless you for getting my day off to a great start!
8.
As Ed_S says, it's very simple. Except if it's the Dunlop flushmounted straplocks. Those would need a bit more woodworking (e.g. a bit of dowel or something to block up the hole, then maybe a very long screw to go through the dowel and actually engage in the body). I've never replaced Dunlop flushmounts, and I wouldn't want to!
Thanks for this. I think that is what we are talking about. When I looked at the basses in question I couldn't see a strap button just a flush mount and my suspicions were aroused. I don't fancy bits of dowel and all that carry on so I'll just give these basses a body swerve.
9. Thanks Ed. I've done that plenty of times in the past with basses and guitars. I just wondered if the hole caused by the Dunlop system was going to be too big to perform that operation. Many thanks for your response.
10. There have been a couple of basses in which I have been interested in the 'for sale' forum. These basses have been fitted with the Dunlop straplock system. Can anyone tell me if the Dunlop arrangement can be removed and the schaller system installed without too much fuss? I'm not criticising the Dunlop system, it's just that everything I've got is schaller and I would want to keep it that way.
11.
Any pics?
You'll find the pics at the start of the thread on page 1. Welcome to the forum!
12. As always my fellow chatters come up trumps. Many thanks!
13. After having just acquired my first fretless bass I was wondering if there are any differences from a fretted bass in setting the action and intonation?
14.
Here are my two Warwicks. Warwick Streamer LX4 2011 Warwick Streamer Jazzman LX Fretless 2006
Let me return the compliment and raise you a WOW!
15. I have just acquired this Corvette Standard Actvice Fretless.
16. Massively sorry to hear about this. What is it about bands that politics always seems to rear its ugly head and really good bands and inidividuals have to suffer. One things is for sure Clarky and that is that you will get another band when you're good and ready to get back into it.
17. Muzz and I have just traded basses and what a pleasant transaction it was. Completely fuss free. Packing was above and beyond the call of duty. Top marks to a thorough gentlemen and all round nice chap. No-one should ever hesitate in dealing with Muzz.
18. Sorry folks this beauty is already spoken for and should be in my eager hands in a couple of days. Muzz will no doubt be along some time soon to close up the thread.
19. Welcome from up here in the North East. I lived in Glasgow for 16 years and there is no other city in the world that I would want to live in. I'm going down to the southside next week for a couple of days and you've just helped me look forward to the trip!
20. I'm just about to take delivery of a Corvette with the Ocean Blue oil finish. Am I correct in saying that beeswax should not be applied to this finish and that normal guitar polish is the way to go?
21. I love my SUB. They are absolutely cracking basses. One of the best bargains around and sure to rise in value. This one looks fantastic and will not disappoint its new owner!
22. After having been over at Osprey Guitars yesterday I know where my money would go if I could afford a custom build! Rich makes a beautiful bass - note the word 'makes' and not 'puts together'!
23. Rich sorted out a problem with my MM SUB. Expertise coupled with the fact that Rich is a nice guy means you can't go wrong if you want a repair or a new bass built from scratch.
24. All is now well with my SUB after calling in on Rich (Ou7shined). Rich really knows his stuff and the suspect jack socket was sorted out in no time. However, it was Rich's bass building operation that really impressed. Rich had a couple of basses in mid-build which look as if they are going to be really tasty. There was also a completed bass in the style of a G&L but with Rich's own take on things the bass looks fantastic and plays beautifully. If I am fortunate enough to be able to afford a custom build in the future I know who's going to build it for me!
