1. Yay! One up to Fender!! Have a free bump for a really nice bass at an excellent price. Good luck with the sale.
2. Here's another bump. The point, I think, is that there is a recognised way to post for sale items. If the bass is for sale and not trade potential buyers like to see pics with a clearly stated price. It's not difficult to fulfil that basic format and it keeps everybody happy and increases the chance of a successfull sale. Good luck with the sale!
3. Welcome to the forum. Nice Jazz at a good price. Good luck with the sale!
4.
Video from our most recent gig, thanks to my wife for taking the camcorder along Probably not obvious from the video but the bass is my Gibson IV through a Hartke HA3500.
Nice playing Matt. Good to see my old Gibson being put to such good use!
5. My oh my oh my! Thanks for finding this Rick. I even get a kick out of just looking at it, can you imagine owning it!
6. I don't understand your need to post another thread for the same bass. Could you not simply bump your original thread? I'll do it for you.
7.
I asked for that.
Peace brother!
8. I like this bass a lot. Have a free bump!
9.
The "Wink" emoticon is used to indicate that the poster using it is being somewhat less than serious. It's a forum, why shouldn't I repeatedly say something? It's no different to the same people repeatedly saying that they don't like "Coffee Table" basses, or Ashdown amps, or multi string basses or blah blah blah. It's just my opinion, and like most other peoples opinions it doesn't really matter. Nobody with any intelligence is ever going to not play a Fender bass if they like them because of some opinion I may hold about them. I don't get hot & bothered, certainly not about something as trivial as a lump of wood with strings on anyway. If my posts bother you then put me on "ignore" - I'm sure I'll learn to live with the rejection. If you'd actually read all my posts about Fenders since I joined the forum you'd see I'm not a total Fender hater - I have constantly sung the praises of the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass as it's a bloody good quality bass, even though I'm not a fan of Jazz basses (a conclusion reached by having played them for 20 years btw). I think Japanese Fenders are consistantly well made & have recommended them time & time again. The Telecaster happens to be one of my favourite guitars. My go-to guitar at home is a Strat. I do genuinely think that Fender USA take the piss with their pricing and the uninspired & cynical (IMO!) rehashes of their classic designs they keep pumping out, but many others seem to feel the same judging by the comments on this thread and others.
I don't think that there's anything wrong with criticism. It would just be nice if you could be a bit more innovative and not keep coming up with the same old sh*te.
10. This looks like a very nice bass but surely not in the price bracket that the seller is expecting. I have a glorious 1984 USA Precision which would struggle to get near the £1000 mark in the current economic climate let alone £1450. Some say that the quality of the JV precision would surpass the USA offering of the same period but I would not in a month of Sundays swap my 84 for a JV. It seems to be so difficult to value instruments at the present time but I suppose something is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
11.
Not enough, obviously.
I am getting the impression that you aren't in the Fender cheerleading squad. I also wonder how many times you can get this point across that you have a problem with the 'F' word. Maybe Fender aren't as innovative as some other manufacturers but they know their market and they know what will sell. There are also one or two of us who are quite happy that they aren't innovative. So, yes it may be boring to someone who doesn't like Fender and their line-up of instruments. But why bother to repeatedly say it. When you see 'Fender' in the title of the thread just ignore it and don't get yourself all hot and bothered.
12. Just ignore me. I see that there were two versions of the Telecaster bass. One from 68-71 which had the single coil and one from 71-79 which had the big humbucker. Mystery solved!
13. Can you just confirm something because I an obviously getting my pickups mixed up here. I understood a 70s Telecaster bass to be a different animal than the 50s precision bass. The Telecaster bass, I thought, had a big chrome covered humbucker type pickup located near the neck. Is this the type of pickup which you have fitted to your bass in place of the original? Or have you fitted a single coil pickup similar to the original but a beefed up version? Sorry to have to ask it's just that I'm not sure as to what title is applied to what pickup.
14. Stunning photography Anndra and not just for the obvious reasons!
15. Let's be kind here and give our new friend a wee bit of time to price this beauty.
16. I hope that the re-introduction of the DJ4 makes the 1st generation DJs more collectable!
17. They are the Daddy. The absolute Daddy!
18. Not an unreasonable price at all but it is the middle of December with Christmas approaching and we are in the middle of a dreadful economic malaise. Maybe these things have got something to do with it. Hopefully someone can shake off the above reasons and grab themselves a nice bass. All the best!
19. Just because you mentioned it I played an American Special and it was very nice. I beleive this is what has taken over from the Highway One.
20. Everyone should also remember that price is not up for discussion or comment. You like the bass, you pay what the seller asks. If you don't have the money you don't buy the bass. But you don't question what the seller is asking unless you send a pm.
