1. Been a Blues and R&B fan for most of my life. I don't get the appreciation of Seasick Steve. I think it's fashionable to like him.
2. If this auction has been reported and is obviously trying to work a flanker then why hasn't ebay pulled it?
3.
Indeed, but that can be a fairly costly type of mistake to make on eBay.
Agreed!
4.
whyohwhyohwhy does he say Lakeland when Lakland is painted on the head?
The seller has maybe got mixed up as Lakland is pronounced Lakeland.
5. Soulive are excellent. See them if you have the chance!
6. I thought pictures were going to follow.
7. I enjoyed that!
8.
I'd always suggest a Hiscox over a full flight case - the case will take a battering, and show it..but the bass will be well protected. Much lighter and generally easier to carry about, especially at airports.
The Hiscox cases are great. I would echo the recommendation to give one a go. Good price, travels well and the guys at Hiscox are superb to deal with.
9.
Its suddenly changed to a fancy black 5 stringer. Looks very nice too but still expensive.
Thank goodness you posted this. As I read the posts I was beginning to think that I was seeing a 5 string Ray that couldn't possibly be there. The seller is either up to something or has made a genuine mistake. I think the 5 string was introduced in 1987.
10.
Just to ease your GAS a little bit... The '5' in the date code doesn't mean the 5th of November - '5' is the model code for a Precision. So that neck code translates as: Precision Bass - made in November of 1964 - C width. Mmmm...Lovely bass! Have a bump!
Whew! Thanks man. Luckily I read this post just before I sold all the furniture!
11. 5th November is my birthday. Why did you have to post this! Now if it had been 5th November 1957 that would have been my date of birth and I would have had to do something drastic to acquire this bass. All the best with the sale.
12. Another country fan here especially anything that Alan Jackson does. His band is excellent btw.
13. Definitely with!
14.
Was that not one of Jaco's basses?
Yep. That's what I remember.
15.
Hi, do you know this originally had the one piece scratchplate/control plate ? That's what all those extra holes were for! (used to have one)!
Not necessarily. From 83 to 85 it was a time of transition. Inventories from previously produced models were used in some new instruments during this time. This Jazz may not have had a one-piece pickguard fitted originally, although the extra holes may suggest that this was the case. Anyway, it's a cracking looking bass and worthy of the asking price.
16. I have an 83 Precision. The quality of this era is just superb. All the best for the sale!
17. I'm just a wee bit confused. If your MIM Jazz is exactly the sound that you want then why bother to mess around with your SUB? Use the Jazz for mid tones and use your SUB for the glorious tones that come out of it!
18. Homage is paid here on a regular basis, and rightly so!
19.
hey! nothing wrong with a mex P bass!! better than the SUBs IMO
Glad you added IMO. I would say the opposite. The MIM P bass ain't even close to a SUB. IMO of course.
20.
I guess if there's one place my '81 Victory Artist deserves to be, it's here: I think enough has been said elsewhere, it's heavy, it's beautiful, it sounds assured and authoritative, it's a winner for me (until my back gives way ) Also I recently acquired Hutton's 1987 IV. I haven't taken any pics of my own yet, so I hope he doesn't mind if I pinch one he took: This is a great bass - a wonderful counterpoint to the Victory - much lighter, passive, simple, yet much more varied in tone than I expected from a passive twin humbucker bass.
The only thing that I mind is the fact you've just reminded me that I don't own this great bass anymore. Also nice to see the Victory Artist. Having had a noodle on it I can safely say that it plays as nice as it looks.
21. Not at the moment. I've only been up in Keith for 9 months and am still settling into my new post and the community. Although my son (guitar player) and I are looking to get something going in the not-too-distant future. All the best with the SUB sale!
22. I've just had to log in again.
23. I have the twin of this bass. I can't believe it's still here at this price. Edit: I've just noticed it's red and not black like mine. Makes no difference to it being a raging bargain.
24. I only use one computer and I'm having to log in every time I access the site.
25. Sold my Gibson IV to Matt last night. Was sorry to see it go but needs must I'm afraid. The car ain't going to sort itself. Anyway, it was great doing the deal with Matt. I'm glad that the Gibson has gone into the ownership of a true and knowledgeable Gibson enthusiast. A thoroughly pleasant chap and a gentleman to boot! It would be great if all transactions were like this. Thanks again my friend!
