1. How about cutting the guy a break and leaving his for sale thread alone. He is trying to sell after all. The other thread has plenty scope for amusement.
2. Bought a drum machine the week before last. I've also bought, sold and traded basses on here. It's the first place to go. Nuff said!
3.
My usual, decorative stands don't come free. They are also moody, prone to changing their minds at the last minute and require constant attention. That's got sod all to do with this glorious Jazz I'm selling, but thought it might cheer you until the next time I can get all the elements together at one time
You just had to show my old gretsch didn't you. I'm now a wee bit sad. Wait a minute. What's wrong with me? That photo warms my innermost being. To hell with the gretsch! I can also testify to Jimmy Moon's work. It is always of the very highest standard. Good luck with the sale Andra.
4. Just bought a drum machine from Golchen (Jon). A nice, friendly straightforward transaction. This is the way it always should be! Thanks Jon.
5. The natural velvet finish is pretty rare. Although I don't think that it will affect the value greatly. I liked the finish. That nice satin feel was just the ticket!
6. I would love this bass as I have a 1983 Precision in the same colour combination. Best of luck with the sale!
7. That's great that the Jazz has gone to a good home. It's just a shame that it wasn't my home! Life is good up in speyside. The air is clear, the lassies are pretty and the whisky is made next door!
8.
Need to know what music you're into, your fave bass players etc.
I'm fairly old school. Blues/Soul/Motown/a bit of funk. Players include Jamerson/Babbitt/Jemmott/Pino Palladino/John Paul Jones.
9. Oh I just remembered - I hope you don't mind me using your fotae for my avatar Andra. Best of luck with the sale, it's a superb bass and would grace any player's collection.
10. Thanks for the replies. I'll definitely keep an eye out for anything in licklibrary especially if you are involved dood!
11. We bow in your presence mighty one! Seriously, well done.
12. I briefly had one of those FMT jazzes. It was a great bass and I really liked it. However, my pro-bass playing son in London also fancied it and it quickly became his main instrument. It is still his main squeeze. Andra is a great guy to deal with so have no worries. I only wish I had money but there again my son may then decide that he needs a backup!
13. I fancy having a go at one of those DVD instructional courses. Has anybody got any experience of them, and if so, can you give a recommendation? Thanks!
14. Many thanks Doddy. That looks like it.
15. This is maybe a long shot but I wondered if anyone can throw some light on an accessory that Bob Babbitt has on his precision close to the bridge. It looks like some kind of muting device. It can be seen on an ad on page 13 of the October issue of 'Bass Player'.
16. Can't stand them.
17. That's a cracking looking bass. If I wasn't already well served in the precision department I would be really tempted. Have a free bump for a nice bass.
18. The Master!
19. Do you know if the stripes are original? Are they painted on? They look as if they may be car stripes added on by a previous owner.
20. This is getting to be like motor manufacturers. One does it so they all follow suit. Fashions come and go. This is just another one.
21. Whoa BigRed! It was just a suggestion. Artisan is used to the Jazz shape. The Gibson IV therefore might have been worth a look. I like the bass. I find it very playable. I can't get on with a T-bird. That's all.
22. If you like the T-bird but want to avoid the neck dive on some models you could always try to source a Gibson IV. It has the same pickups and electrics as the T-bird and feels astonishingly like a Precision to play. Here's mine:-
23. I have a Lakland DJ4. Very well made and sounds just great. I'm very happy to recommend it.
24. Steve is a great guy to deal with. If you are looking for an aerodyne then look no further!
