1. Do you know if the stripes are original? Are they painted on? They look as if they may be car stripes added on by a previous owner.
2. This is getting to be like motor manufacturers. One does it so they all follow suit. Fashions come and go. This is just another one.
3. Whoa BigRed! It was just a suggestion. Artisan is used to the Jazz shape. The Gibson IV therefore might have been worth a look. I like the bass. I find it very playable. I can't get on with a T-bird. That's all.
4. If you like the T-bird but want to avoid the neck dive on some models you could always try to source a Gibson IV. It has the same pickups and electrics as the T-bird and feels astonishingly like a Precision to play. Here's mine:-
5. I have a Lakland DJ4. Very well made and sounds just great. I'm very happy to recommend it.
6. Steve is a great guy to deal with. If you are looking for an aerodyne then look no further!
7. All the hard work has been worth it. It looks fantastic! Well done that man.
8. Keep going. I'm sure you'll sell it. It's a very nice bass. I just wish I had the money!
9. Phil Collins? Oh dear, dear, dear dear, dear.
10. It's been on here a few times in the past but I never tire from seeing it again. Thanks!
11. Is the Jazz the only trade you would consider?
12.
You're an idiot.
Yes, on this occasion I am an idiot and fully apologise for my inappropriate post. Sometimes you just post up without thinking and this was one of those times. I'm glad that this nice bass has been sold.
13.
Well said that man.
Just a post to offer apologies for my earlier nonsense. I got what I deserved and regret my post. All the best with the sale!
14. Honestly, what is the point of posting here with a 'feeler' for a bass of this type and price without any pics. Are you just messing about?
15. Am I missing something here? I don't see a bass. Don't piss about. If you want to sell something get a pic up when you post and put a price on it. Can't be bothered with this.
16. I really am weird. My Precisions are just fine with their original bridges. They don't give me any trouble and the basses sound great. My MM SUB bridge is also absolutely fine. Maybe, just maybe, you get a better sound with a thinner bit of metal.
17.
I would ask them to lend you an amp if you need one in the meantime. Most shops would do that. If not, let it ride for a while longer. The trouble is that most shops have a guy they use who they rely on but, as they have indicated, things happen and delays can occur (it is credible for a repair guy to have gone on holiday in August, after all ). I had an American amp in for repair once (many years ago) and the delay was caused by the repair guy having trouble accessing a circuit diagram from the manufacturer (this was pre-email). It got done in the end and the amp caused me no more trouble. Three weeks is no time, really. Try ordering a sofa!
Good advice bilbo. I had the same experience and went down a courteous and understanding route. I ended up getting a new amp as the shop couldn't find the fault! If it goes on for too long however it is time to start becoming more assertive. All the best!
18. Whatever anybody does it's best to retain the stock pups and not sell them on. Your P bass will eventually be a collectors item and that's when nobody wants retro-fitted pups!
19.
A 62 was on the cards! Thanks. Id need to try one out first, so we shall see.
If you find yourself up my way you are very welcome to come and try. I'm sure you'll be impressed!
20.
Thanks! Sounds great to me. I might check one out. I keep looking at other basses, then coming back to the simple P bass design.
I notice that you already have a couple of current production precisions. Have you thought of trying a 62 reissue? They are great basses and I find mine so much better than the standard offering. However, I also have a Lakland DJ4, and if the Glaub is as good a precision as the DJ4 is a jazz, then it's well worth checking out. All the best in your quest!
21. Sorry to be boring but the Fender USA vintage pups on my 62 reissue are just dandy. Wouldn't dream of changing them.
