1. Am I missing something here? I don't see a bass. Don't piss about. If you want to sell something get a pic up when you post and put a price on it. Can't be bothered with this.
2. I really am weird. My Precisions are just fine with their original bridges. They don't give me any trouble and the basses sound great. My MM SUB bridge is also absolutely fine. Maybe, just maybe, you get a better sound with a thinner bit of metal.
3.
I would ask them to lend you an amp if you need one in the meantime. Most shops would do that. If not, let it ride for a while longer. The trouble is that most shops have a guy they use who they rely on but, as they have indicated, things happen and delays can occur (it is credible for a repair guy to have gone on holiday in August, after all ). I had an American amp in for repair once (many years ago) and the delay was caused by the repair guy having trouble accessing a circuit diagram from the manufacturer (this was pre-email). It got done in the end and the amp caused me no more trouble. Three weeks is no time, really. Try ordering a sofa!
Good advice bilbo. I had the same experience and went down a courteous and understanding route. I ended up getting a new amp as the shop couldn't find the fault! If it goes on for too long however it is time to start becoming more assertive. All the best!
4. Whatever anybody does it's best to retain the stock pups and not sell them on. Your P bass will eventually be a collectors item and that's when nobody wants retro-fitted pups!
5.
A 62 was on the cards! Thanks. Id need to try one out first, so we shall see.
If you find yourself up my way you are very welcome to come and try. I'm sure you'll be impressed!
6.
Thanks! Sounds great to me. I might check one out. I keep looking at other basses, then coming back to the simple P bass design.
I notice that you already have a couple of current production precisions. Have you thought of trying a 62 reissue? They are great basses and I find mine so much better than the standard offering. However, I also have a Lakland DJ4, and if the Glaub is as good a precision as the DJ4 is a jazz, then it's well worth checking out. All the best in your quest!
7. Sorry to be boring but the Fender USA vintage pups on my 62 reissue are just dandy. Wouldn't dream of changing them.

A great loss. Thoughts and prayers to Si's family.
9. I really can't crawl as I got the book out the library. It was a great read. Nostalgia points 10/10. Fantastic to have Guy on the forum. Please stay with us and give us the benefit of your knowledge on other stuff.
10. The advice on here has been excellent. I have actually been to my GP with this problem and was treated with indifference and told that it would probably pass. As I wasn't happy with this response I started this topic and, true to form, my fellow BC'ers have responded with care and knowledge. Armed with this knowledge I'm going to get an appointment with another GP and try and get things sorted out. What a forum!
11. Many, many thanks chaps. I'll certainly take to heart your excellent advice.
12. I have developed a kind of numbness at the tip of the middle finger of my right hand. It's not really numb but it just feels a bit strange, numbness is the best way to describe it. I just wondered if any other players have experienced this and, if you have, have you any advice? Many thanks.
13. Really surprised about the Grovers. I've still got the original set on my Martin D28 and it stays in tune for looooooooooong periods of time. I can take it out of the case after weeks of non-playing and it's still in tune. I've had the guitar from new in 1979 and it's just fantastic. Are the tuners definitely Grovers? Is 'Grover' stamped on them? I've never heard anything bad said about them. However, I've also never seen the subject raised on this forum so who knows!
14. I recently moved house and the removers managed to break the head on one of my Hercules stands. I didn't notice the breakage until after the move and so couldn't make a claim. As the head could be removed I contacted the distributors (Strings & Things) and asked if they could supply me with a head as the rest of the stand was perfectly ok. The nice people at Strings & Things sent me a brand new head free gratis. Too often we hear bad tales of musos getting ripped off so I thought that I would post this up as example of a company who still care about their customers.
15. My twins are the two precisions. I suppose that's a bit obvious!
16. Very nice collection of basses. The only investment you need now is a couple of stands - you know it makes sense!
17. Focus were the first band that I ever saw live. They weren't very well known and played in 'Clouds' disco (it was the 70s) in Glasgow. I was spellbound by the gig and went on to see them several more times, but you know what they say; you never forget your first time!
18. Congrats. Glad you found one!
19. Black nylons on and off 50 times - now there's a thought!
20.
I saw it and found it disappointing. I agree that the tv speaker thing didn't help and whoever mixed it for tv needs a talking to but I found the whole thing steeped in nostalgia and very little else. 6/10
Not that I agree with you Bilbo but when did nostalgia neccessarily become a bad thing?
21. Stevie was fantastic. The band were great. The bass sounded absolutely stupendous - I have my TV hooked up to my Hi-Fi. This man is a legend. To say it was "total sh*t" just shows what immaturity is.
22. I have used a couple of Pete Cornish cables now for years. They still look as good as when I bought them. Yes they are very expensive as far as cables go but how many cheap leads would I have gone through in the same space of time. If the Cornish leads ever fail I promise I'll go to OBBM.
23.
I love the blue Lakland. Did you get yours with the alternative scratchplates? They do an awesome blue/grey tort, which looks stunning on the blue basses.
The DJ4 is a great bass as you obviously appreciate yourself. I got mine from Michael (Linus27) and so it didn't have alternative scratchplates. The blue/grey tort does look great but I've always liked the plainer look to my basses and so stuck with the white original plate.
24.
nice room. Shame about the decor but if you've only just moved in then it's understandable i suppose lolz. Nice set of basses and very beautiful italian amp as well.
Yeah the decor is not pretty. However, it's the basement so will be the last place to be done. I'm just glad to have a sizeable area for the gear and to practice/rehearse in. I agree about the Italian amp. The Mesa walkabout is also great. I still can't believe the volume that comes out of that thing.
25. I've just moved into a house with a large basement which is big enough to set up a reheasal studio for a 4/5 piece band. After moving my gear into the basement I thought I'd take a photo of everything. Thought I'd share it with you. For details see my list below.
