f***ing christians... My girlfriend's a teacher at a faith school, been desperately trying to find a different job for 2 years now. Apparently their school chaplain (who seems quite fond of year 9 girls - guess the religion!) has decided to break the school's historical support for Amnesty International recently because of a position they took in support of an African woman who wanted to have an abortion. So now he's started printing out form letters and giving them to year 7s (11-year-olds) to sign and mail off in support of some more-appropriate "charity" that doesn't waste its time on things he considers immoral in his tiny little religion-addled mind. He doesn't appear to give a f*** that these kids have no idea what they're writing in opposition to, really, so long as there's lots of support. They can leave the understanding and moral judgement to him - after all, he's a minister. f***ing christians...
There are plenty bogus scamming musicians out there but do we have posts saying f****ing musicians. No we don't. That is because we are sensible enough and grown up enough to know that you don't tar everybody with the same brush. To assume that all Christians are like this school chaplain is just ridiculous. I wouldn't regard this chaplain as acting in a Christian manner whatsoever. However, I am getting fed up with the judgemental attitudes towards my chosen beliefs on this forum. Yes there are people who erroneously call themselves Christians and have some very dubious ways of showing it but for goodness sake be adult enough to realise that we're not all bad. For the OP: As regards the BOTB. My son's band was involved in a similar escapade. My advice for what it's worth is to have nothing to do with it. You will be exploited and possibly find yourselves in a situation where you are persuaded to take part in the activities of a dubious pseudo church.

This is a 'friend' who found this case in a skip. It cost him nothing. If he is a friend he should simply give it to you. End of story. Would you not do the same for him?

It's a shame that your wife doesn't appreciate how much your music means to you. Try to explain to her in the most delicate but firm way that gigging is really part of who you are. Hopefully she will come round. If not brother, you've got a big decision to make!

Played a brand new Fender 2009 P Bass tonight...
Older Fender's are so much better than the new ones!
That's what they said in the 90s. -
I'm definitely in agreement with you on this one. What you have to watch is how you put it to someone (in your case the guitarist) that perhaps the soloing practice should have been done at home. The way we say things can be what is resented with the point or content being of secondary importance. It's all about making your point with senstivity so as not too hurt someone or belittle them.

I'm all confused. I didn't think that I really liked jazz. But lo and behold I was listening to Jools Holland last night and who comes on but Jimmy Cobb with his 'So What Band'. Now that was some very nice music. I'm going to have to rethink and consider that I might be getting drawn in!

Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout at 2 ohms????
Hutton replied to EssentialTension's topic in Amps and Cabs
Did it cut out, by any chance...?
Not exactly. The volume would suddenly reduce and then after a period of time would come back again. The distributor thought that it was down to the connectors for the valves or the input jack. They even tried a new driver but couldn't get to the bottom of the problem. Hence the replacement. I've not had any problems since. -
Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout at 2 ohms????
Hutton replied to EssentialTension's topic in Amps and Cabs
I bought my Walkabout 1X12 from GuitarGuitar. It was the original two input model. I had all sorts of problems with it which the distributors (also based in Glasgow) did their best to sort out. After a few attempts they decided to replace it with a new one which was the new one input model. It has been great. I sometimes wonder what happened to my old two input model.......................... -
Why do so many people struggle with the intro to this jaunty tune by the popular beat combo Kings of Leon? It's not hard really
Well slap my arse. We have a virtuoso in our prescence. I bow before your omniscience oh great one!

Just bought a Lakland Skyline DJ4 from Michael. The bass is exactly as Michael described it. Well packaged and delivered when he said it would be. A very pleasant and friendly transaction. Thanks Michael!
It´s def. nitro laquer and it´s a 78 in cherryburst... no 80s. Serial number says April 1978. So the cherry burst 2 years early.
Sorry to be controversial here but - I would rather have an eighties Fender than a late seventies model. The weight issue alone would sort it for me. I also lived through the 70s and nobody liked 70s Fenders because they weren't very well made. Quality control was out the window. OK some made it through and this bass may be one of them but it's laughable how 70 Fenders are worshipped. Late 70s basses and guitars used to be as cheap as chips until some clever folk hyped up the market and made a lot of money. When Bill Schultz became president at Fender in 1981 the first thing he did was abandon the awful three-bolt neck. Quality was an issue once again and things took a big step in 82 when the first reisssues started to be made and a standard line of Jazzes and Precisions were introduced (white pickup models). I am sure this bass is a nice instrument but let's not assume that the 70s were a golden era and the 80s for some reason weren't. In my opinion the 70s was the dark time.

I prefer the seller to state what he or she is looking for. However, if they don't then a bit of homework will usually give you a fair idea of value which you can then PM. The seller either accepts it or not. I would doubt if a seller looking for an inflated price sells their goods especially in the current climate.
haha aren't you funny?
Yep. And I'm also pissed off with the way that Basschat is going.
okay well maybe not B&Q but a computer shop is selling acrylic for case window mods that's exactly the same thickness (3mm) and a bigger surface size for £5.99. Whether it's the same quality or not is unknown but hell if it's the same material and it's see through then that's all that matters!
OK. Let's banish WD Music to everlasting perdition where they can wail and gnash their teeth. Before that we could start a basschat petition to boycott WD music. In fact I think we should all go to their premises and demand a meeting to ask: WHY IS YOUR ACRYLIC SO EXPENSIVE!!!!!! And then when the guitar suppliers go out of business we can go down to B&Q to buy all our accessories.
-
I think that you have to compare like with like. Is the B&Q acrylic; a) available. b)the correct thickness. c) as good a quality. Until these questions are answered then the thread is really a waste of time.
