Nice to see you're back. A welcome return!

I am a minister in the Church of Scotland and would not ever consider being as offensive to any other occupation as some members have been here to my profession. Reasoned debate is one thing offence is another.

I think that music for worship is regarded in the same way as any other form of music. You like some and don't like others. There are those who like traditional hymns. There are those who like the 'throw your arms in the air and sway about' type of music. There are those who like the black gospel choir approach etc. If you want to worship then there is plenty of choose from. One is not more correct than the other. Personally speaking I think that 'I'll take you there' is one of the greatest worship songs I have ever heard. Great bassline and a simple and direct message. Horses for courses as they say.
Alas, someone with whom to share my frustrations!! I know exactly what you mean Mark. Whilst the US Gospel seen pumps out some amazing tunes, I continue to be amazed at why the UK worship scene hasn't moved on from the very rock based Hillsongs type material. Sure, there's some fantastic musicians out there in the UK Christian music scene, but it's such a shame they don't have some of the best arrangements to play. And before anyone else says it, yes, I know it's more about the words / content, but wouldn't it be great to have some funky / souly / even reggae type music to accompany them?
Couldn't say it better myself. Agreeing with you big time!
He is crap at playing with the who. I would be much better and Geddy Lee would be better than me! Goodbye!
Hopefully when you say "Goodbye" at the end of your post it means that you are leaving and not going to post any more sh*te! Go on now, hurry up the nursery bell is ringing.

You can walk on water but can't work out photobucket. Religion just ain't what it used to be!

My older son gets my stuff. He's a bass player already so I know it will be well used. My younger son gets my 78 Martin D28 as he plays guitar.

Do you people not go to your beds at night? Oops, I forgot that I'm old!

Great news that CC Music is operating again under it's own banner. I've been going there since I was a student at Glasgow Uni many moons ago. All the best to Stevie & co.

I have a couple of Pete Cornish cables. They're still as good as the day I got them.

I couldn't agree more with st3_m3. Why are we so worried to name and shame. This is obviously a scam. Let the 'vintage' dealer come after Basschat if he likes. We know we are right here. Why should these unscrupulous people hide behind the fear of litigation. Let's hear who it is and stop messing around.

I acquire a suitably sized box usually from my local music store. Because I am a good customer I never have a bother in getting a box. As your Stingray is in it's own hardcase I wouldn't see the necessity to pack inside the case. The M'man cases are a good fit. I pack the space between the case and the inside of the box with bubble wrap/cardboard/newspaper so that the case cannot move inside the box. I have yet to have a problem. I'm surprised your Stingray is still here at this price. It's a great buy. We must all be short of cash!

Well done Stew. Great post. If I played Everybody Dance it would be so slow as to be unrecognisible! Jamerson and Edwards come at the very top of my list of favourite players as well. You certainly sound as if you are back where you belong. Anyway, sometimes a break does a bit of good. It enables us to return with renewed enthusiasm. All the best!
From whence comes this news, any evidence? I only ask as I must have heard the same thing every 6 mths for the last 3 yrs!
There are already three threads in 'off topic' about this. There is also one thread on this forum about the same thing.

Don't worry Michael. It's always the worst time when you have just sold a bass. I sold a Stingray recently so I know how you feel. Just go and pick up one of those gorgeous precisions and move on!

There was this thread a few months ago. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;hl=gig+photo

I would recommend that, if possible, you try out a semi-acoustic bass before you buy. I am a precision player but recently bought a Gretsch G6072 which has a 34" scale. Although the same as the precision it felt as though I needed an extra inch or two on my left arm. This was all down to playing position. You have to tilt the semi neck up more to achieve the same feeling of length of neck. Once you have made the adjustment everything is fine.

I would also have to speak up for both branches in Glasgow. The lads have always given me good service. My main gripe is that their range of stock just isn't what it used to be. When I am ready to make a purchase I go to see what they have and am usually disappointed. I suspect that they have shifted the emphasis from one type of customer to another. It is some considerable time since I bought anything in Sound Control and I used to buy a lot from them.
Tried a friend of mine's Musicman Sub the other day and woah! Does that thing have some balls. So I thought I'd buy a Musicman, thing is I can't decide which to buy. I'm intrigued by the Bongo and Sterling but wondered if anyone had preferences/thoughts on the matter. Are they all variations on a theme ??
I know I'm probably going to regret saying this but here goes anyway. Why not get a SUB. Although discontinued in 2006 there are still excellent used examples available. And a few new ones if you look hard enough. You are absolutely right - they do have balls and plenty of them. I have had a SUB for four years now and in that time I have had a Stingray that has come and gone. Why? - because I kept playing the SUB and the Stingray stayed in the case. You have tried the SUB and liked it. Only a suggestion but why not?
