1. Afternoon Everyone, A question for all the luthier minded bods out there.... I have a jazz bass with a touch of neck dive and I'm looking at having some hipshot ultralites put on it, it currently has the classic style big fender elephant ear jobbies, 1. Will it make any difference? 2. Are ultralites the way to go or is there a better alternative? 3. The screw holes will be in a different place, I.e. I'll be left with some holes, can these be filled or am I looking at codsing up an expensive bass? Any experiences or info gratefully received. Cheers Chris.
2. If I hadn't already commissioned my own RIM I'd have this, a lot of bass at this price.
3. Hi Tom, apols for the delay in replying, no excuse just me taking my eye off the ball, nut width is 38.5mm, I'll PM you other stuff. cheers Chris.
4. Have a bump, lovely basses and Lawrence is a top bloke to deal with, well worth a punt.
5. Doh, obviously I dont know how to upload a sound clip, anyone have a clue? or pm me and I'll email it!
6. Sound clip as requested, this is DI'd using an M-box into logic set flat, probably slightly over cooked so apols but you get an idea.
7. No love for the RB?! I will take an offer on this one if anyone fancies a punt!
8. Afternoon Everyone, here we have a Rockbass streamer 4 by Warwick, it was my daughters but she spends all her time playing guitar so this has not been out in a year or three! Awesome it is not, just not knackered and probably great for a beginner or for the kind of gig where you don't want to take your pride and joy! Specs: Maple neck and rosewood board Single MEC pickup Maple neck, rosewood board with 24 frets Controls: Vol & tone Condition: Very clean, there is a smidge of light and barely visible buckle rash on the back (pictured), otherwise no issues whatsoever, it plays well. Price: I'm looking for £80 but have a sense of humour so may take an offer! Cheers for looking. Chris.
9. I've just got a Shuker pj, not the jjb model though, it looks, feels and sounds amazing, it did take a fair while to build.
10. Theres a fair bit on the nut, I'm not going to attempt anything myself though, nice bass + nil skills has disaster written all over it!
11.
At the risk of awakening painful memories that are beginning to fade... Jon would do it!
Yup but I think he's real busy at the mo, the two he's made me are sounding mighty good, can't put them down, not everyone fancies the pink one but it sounds the biz, mighty ballsy!
12. Ahhh... This would do the job? If so then it maybe a goer, it's a lovely bass and I don't really want to shaft it!
13. Alan sent me a PM, the rosewood on this one will probably be too soft so it may be a no go, putting a new bard on it would be v costly too.
14. Yep, the gallery do them, it would be round the £100 mark give or take, I'm assuming they did a fantastic job on yours? everything else I've had done there has been top drawer.
15. G'day all, I'm after some advice and I'm hoping a few of you will be able to help. I have a graft ACG harlot which I have up for sale at the mo' but to be honest I fancy keeping it, I'm toying with the idea of having it defretted, anyone know anything about this? is it a disaster waiting to happen? do you know anyone who could do the work (I'll email alan at ACG too) are we talking new board or can slots be filled? All advice gratefully received! Cheers Chris PS Nope, its not something I have the skill to attempt myself.
16. My two!
17. Weekends fine Manraj, let me know which day and i'll stay in. Right... sound.... ideally I need to get some clips up and will do in the next week as soon as I can get access to something to rec on that'll do her justice, its kind of hard to describe, for me its nearer MM, sort of fat and v punchy but it does growl too, cuts through a mix really well.
