He he, that's my single cut
It's a v cool looking bass you have, with the grain on the body I'm getting it should look pretty spectacular.
This has got me thinking! Just need to sell a kidney first!
Im looking forward to it, just something a little different and we all know it will be good, also a v reasonable price, I hadn't really considered the "dirty ash" finish until scrolling through the build progress pages and finding a single cut with it, that one looks seriously nice so I thought what the hell!
Greenking has to take credit for the PB pickup he has asked for one so I had a word with Aaron and it can be fitted into the RFS housing which suits me very well. Alan
Yep, should be interesting, I'm looking forward to it!

G'day all, I recently bought one of Alans "Graft" basses and having totally blown away I'm going for a full spec build on another, this one is a kind of jazz shaped body with a "PJ" config. Specs: 34" scale 5 string, ash body + dirty ash finish, wenge & padauk laminate neck, Mac ebony board, ACG EQ01 preamp, hipshot type A bridge, hipshot ultralite tuners, single coil ACG in the bridge position, split coil "P" type in an RFM housing on the neck. More to follow!
G’day everyone, I thought I’d break the habit of a lifetime and stop lurking in the background and write something useful! I’ve recently purchased on of the ACG “Graft” Basses and have been inspired enough to chuck together a quick review. I hope it’s of use, if anyone has any questions feel free to PM me. Spec: Alder body with a Shedua top, 3 piece Maple neck with a Rosewood board no radius, East 2 band EQ with selectable frequency centres for the bass and treble, ACG FB humbucker, Hipshot Type B Gotoh GB7 tuners. Satin finish. You can look at it here: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Gallery/238/ Build: Top notch craftsmanship, I can't find anything amiss anywhere and I have looked very carefully! The Hardware all top quality stuff, Hipshot bridge, Gotoh tuners, no OEM cheapo's to be found here, the neck is beautifully finished, smooth as silk and fitted into a really tight neck pocket. The fretwork is immaculate and the body has a really nice finish to it. To sum up, the quality is every bit as good as my Nordy's and Sadowsky's, Nuff' said! Playability: the first thing you notice is the weight or lack of it, mine weighs under 8lbs and if like me you have a "hinky" back this is a really boon. When playing, it's easy to get comfortable, balance is very good and it just "hangs well" as it were, no neck dive or weird angles. The asymmetric neck profile takes a few minutes to get used to but is really comfortable and makes perfect sense once you have become accustomed, it is fast and a doddle to play, even for my smallish hands. Upper fret access is good and getting around the thing presents no problems. Sounds: played unplugged it's full, resonant and has plenty of "harmonic content" (apols, can't find a better way of putting it)! it reminds me a bit of my old Alembic Orion. Plugged In and set flat you get a ballsey and throaty kind of sound, really fat and punchy, it is very articulate so if your sloppy or get it wrong your going to hear it but the flip side of this is that it picks up every little musical nuance you put in. Eq is a 2 band Circuit by John East with both cut and boost offering a decent array of sounds, it definitely has its own "sonic signature" and is not a Fender or MM clone but it is versatile, it may not have the filters found in the more expensive ACG's but I was able to get a more than usable sound for pretty much any style I can think of and love the generally beefy tone. Overall: if I'd bought this at over £1k I'd have been more than satisfied, needless to say with a £675 price tag I'm very happy indeed! You won't get a new skyline at this price and you'd also struggle to get a decent second hand Stingray or Fender for this kind of money so a high quality "hand built" instrument has to be worthy of some consideration. The shapes are for some folks a bit of an acquired taste but I'm convinced; sounds, playability, build quality and something that's just a tad different did it for me, I'd definitely buy another, bargain! Further details here: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/
PS sounds to follow.
Just got an email from BKP showing off their new site and it has a dedicated bass section now. Pretty excited. http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/main/p...ps.php?cat=bass
I have a skyline Bob Glaub with a hinky pickup and I'm having one of these fitted, as much out of curiosity as anything! I'll post something when I've road tested it.
Hey Loz, that's a stunner. If my numbers come up on Saturday I shall be on to you quicker than a whippet! For an essentially as new Series 1 that has to be, despite the hefty price tag, one of the bargains on BC. I wish, I wish etc etc
Lovely bass Lawrence, if only I had some cash, never mind, have a new year bump! -
Thank you. It is stunning in every sense of the word Kev. Very different to a Warwick but it just oozes quality and mojo....
Happy new year to you ss well Col! I'm amazed this one hasn't gone yet, hand built custom and as new, a sign of the times I guess.
Great bloke to deal with, honest as the day is long. Sticks to his word and follows through on deals. Hopefully do a deal in the future if something else comes up!
Completely agree with Rich, I've just bought a lakkie DJ4 off Robbie, great deal on a really nice bass and totally straightforward/painless, I can recommend highly and look forward to the next time.
I dont know if it will fit a lakie, I have three and all had to be fettled to fit. The biggest difference is it has 10 screw holes as opposed to the normal 13 on a fender. Most of them line up but you would have to drill some new holes
Cheers guys, sounds too complex for me, I might "get it done" though.

Evening all, Does any kind soul out there know where I can buy a gold anodised pickguard for a P bass? It's for a Lakkie skyline Bob Glaub, I gave no idea whether the fender ones will fit, any ideas anyone? Cheers. Chris.
