Very nice indeed .

I'm really getting into the whole Precision bass "thing" since I got my bass in January (see avatar). Your right the necks on the new US basses are a joy to hold & play, the only upgrade has bee a set of Fender straplocks .
-
The headstock to me is like a modern version of the old Tele style precision, can't tell from the photo's but is the body the same thickness as a P bass? I like it though .

That's nice the necks on the American Standards & Specials are really nice.

Mind blowingly beautiful there is nothing else, that you could do to make it look any better .

I am determined now to be GAS free I spent the best part of last year thinking about it going over all the basses I'd owned, over the past 27 years and the money I'd spent & wasted on some of them & the money I lost when I sold them on . I had spent so much time saving for basses & amps (which you can do for any hobby/interest). Always said that when I reached 50 I would quit buying basses & amps, anyhow 2 years earlier than planned I have managed to do just that . So I read a lot of reviews on basses and amps that I liked the look of, and one of my main criteria was that it was it had to be well made & the weight of the bass & amp had to be manageable (no more Peavey TNT 160's ).For me the new American Fender Precision with the Custom Shop pickups & the improvements, made on the neck and the weight and feel of the bass won me over. All I have added is a set of straplocks & for the first time ever flatwound strings, so that takes care of my bass needs & string changes won't be for a good few years. And amp wise I liked the look and weight again of the Fender Rumble 200 combo. So now I can save my money for other things & sit back and enjoy what I own instead of looking and thinking "What if or I need that".

Thank you for all the advice gentlemen yesterday,I got a set of Fender 9050L flatwound strings & changed them one by one. The neck is fine and after using roundwound strings for the past 27 years, it does feel a bit strange but sounds good through my Fender Rumble 200 .
I bought one the same a few months back, and can't fault it. In fact, I've never played a bad US Standard Fender. Something about a white P and tort. Always wanted one myself, and it doesn't disappoint. Quite tempted by the 1 bass thing - did it for a white until the GAS crept back in.....if your going to mono-bass, I think the P is maybe the one to do it. Or the Jazz. Or the.......
I have been lucky to own various brands including Rickenbacker & Musicman and a host of others. And as my other 2 basses have been put away I can concentrate on the Precision. I really want to go down the one bass only route, 1 bass & 1 amp job done. Plus I'm tired of saving up for basses & being gutted if they have gone before I had chance to get it.
And yet you still come on Basschat? Bad choice my man! Lovely set-up there BTW
Can't give everything up now it's just looking at everyone else's basses.
Y'know, I think you've got the complete set there...
That's what I'm going for now just a one bass & amp setup. I have lost so much money at times flipping basses & chasing different sounds, 5 string, headless, active, fretless etc. Now I just want a passive 4 string bass & you can't really go wrong with a Precision, a decent amp and hopefully after 27 years break my GAS habit. And save my money for other things in life .
Also a great choice!
I think they are a good guitar stand & I like the way the bass hangs in the holder.
-
Yes I'm happy with both the bass is light in weight & sounds good with the CS pickups. And the amp is great & it's small and light & still has a 15" speaker. So now I have no more back breaking amp lifting like I used to do with my old Peavey TNT 160
Quality, but simple set-up there. The Rumble amps are great, really nice rich, warm tone to them and difficult - imo - to beat a US Precision.
That was one of the main reasons I chose both of them, plus the weight of the amp was a deal breaker for me .
Congratulations. Beautiful bass in a beautiful colour.
Thanks I saw a youtube video of a 1966 precision in the same colour, though his had gone more yellowish and I thought that's for me.
Well that's you set for life. No need to even think about acquiring more bass kit, oh no indeed!
Yes it's looking that way now 1 pickup & 1 volume & tone suits me fine.
But what was in the third package?!
A Hercules guitar stand I've always liked the look of these.

Around noon today the UK mail van dropped off my "New" bass & amp at my office. The bass is a 2014 American Standard Precision in Olympic white with a maple neck, and custom shop pickups and a Fender Rumble 200 bass combo. This is my first American Fender & I can't get over how light it is, & the quality & fit is excellent. The Rumble also is a great piece of kit again so light, but sounds good (I have always liked 15" speakers) and I liked the vintage push switch. Only took a couple of pictures with my phone at work, want to get back and carry on playing my new toy . I have one from 1989 in this same colour and scratchplate they are a nice bass.
-
Looking at the Fender flats as the cost is not that bad, plus if I don't like them I can put them on my Squier Precision instead.
-
I have never used flatwound strings only ever used roundwound, from when I started playing bass back in 1987. And some of the videos I've watched the players have left their flatwound strings on for years. Apparently Klaus Voorman has had the same set on for decades.
