I first saw this picture in 1980 my Mum had the Norman Hunter Beatles book, which I still have I didn't know what it was but I loved the look of it anyway. Fast forward 8 yrs I've started to learn the bass guitar back in '87 & luckily in, November '88 I found a 1964 500/1 for £175 it was mine all mine.Fast forward to 2022 it's still my guilty pleasures & my most cherished possession.

I hope Rob gets the best treatment & makes a good recovery.

Just binged watched Pistol over this BH weekend and I was thinking, did Glen Matlock ever get his basses that were stolen back?

This has been with me since 13/11/88 many have come and gone since then.

My 2014 Am.Std Precision is the one that gets played the most, even unplugged it's the one that gets picked up to play on. Considering I bought it new in Jan 2015 unseen & untried I ended up with an amazing bass. The overall feel of the neck is so smooth and those CS pickups & the fact that it, weighs 8lb 4.2 oz. defiantly makes it a keeper & it's strung with Dunlop 45-105 flatwounds.

Absolutely stunning collection you have there, enjoy them all 😎.

How I turned my £30 P Bass Copy into a Pro Instrument
luckman67 replied to greghagger's topic in Bass Guitars
IIRC the Encore E83 was made of ash blocks glued together, like the Sunn Mustang basses were. The E84 was either a 2 or 3 piece body which not only looked good, but the hardware was gold instead of chrome.- 119 replies

How I turned my £30 P Bass Copy into a Pro Instrument
luckman67 replied to greghagger's topic in Bass Guitars
If the bass has a sentimental attachment then wanting to upgrade it, is down to the owner & their wallet. Encore did a E84 model bass which had a natural ash body, a few people bought these and upgraded the neck to a Fender version.- 119 replies

First one I'd go with Aria the second one maybe Greco or Univox.

Loved the 80s & the basses from that era, enjoy your bass 😎.

Really glad the bass was OK, it's a stunner. Hope you have many years playing it 😎

That's in good condition for it's age.

Here is my 1989 S9 MIK Squier Precision with a nice gloss neck and, licensed by Schaller machine heads & a heavy plywood body. It was bought by my Girlfriend twice for me in 1998, & again in 2008 when I was lucky enough to get it back from my friend who I sold it to. It now resides in a padded gig bag in the loft as it doesn't get played much &, I'm not a fan of the thinner Squier bodies.

Beautiful looking bass 😎

Beautiful bass you have there Paul The B-301 was the first bass guitar I ever held or had a go on back in late 1986, The guitar shop were I used to live had a secondhand one in & the owner, let me hold and pluck a few notes on it happy memories I loved the way that bass looked. A few months later I went back and bought a secondhand Marlin Sidewinder, & had a quick go on the Guild again I was so dissapointed in my purchase. Hope it serves you well 👍

Another vote for finding an 80's Peavey USA made bass, I bought this 86 Foundation almost 3 years ago, for £350. An amazing bass for the price 😎.

It does look nice.

That is a lovely looking bass 😎

Mines still all in the case sealed and unused since I got, my Am.Std Precision back in Jan 2015.

Fender was always one of the best for case candy.

American Professional Prices Compared to Player
luckman67 replied to thegummy's topic in Bass Guitars
Another vote for the American made Fenders When I bought my 2014 Am Std new unseen & untried it was a big risk at the time, but now I use it as a bench mark.Everything from the lightweight body, great feeling neck and good quality hardware & pickups, made it worth what I paid at the time which IIRC was around £1171. If I was lucky enough to be able to get another Precision it would be a secondhand USA model. The only things I have added are straplocks and flatwounds. The cases on the new Pro range are very nice I would like to buy one but the, case that my Am.Std isn't that bad and all the case candy is still there unused. -
The colour looks great hope it serves you well.

Sounded good Tim 😎
