  1. The short lived S1 switch tried to emulate that. I binned the one on my precision
  2. This was how it ran best in my originals band. Run through the set once. Anything that wasn't nailed or was new play again Have tea and biscuits. Try something new until it stopped being exciting. I would normally bring in some lyrics and we'd go from there. Discuss the set/songs. Maybe change or retire an older one. Have a quick run through of songs that needed it again. Help the drummer pack up and check the diaries.
  3. Tune. African Dub Chapters 1-4 are amazing. Can't beat a bit of Greensleeves output on a nice sunny day like today .
  4. Probably the rig I've still got I can't see any reason to change. Loud, light and compact.
  5. John Hall was Brentford's right back for a while when we were in the 4th Division/League 2 about 10 years ago. Lovely hair and quite stylish. Couldn't defend for toffee. Looked more a 5 string Jazz player if I'm honest. Doesn't help this thread much I'll admit.
  6. I'm sure there was a Vauxhall Vintera? The Inca Silver 70s Jazz looks nice. Well for a Jazz it does. All a bit meh though.
  7. In the late 70s I used a WEM Westminster 15w Bass combo. Louder than you'd think. I then moved on to an HH 100VS bass head and home brew 1x18 cab. Slightly louder farty woof tone. At the music shop I worked in at the time Acoustic and Ampeg were considered the ones to aspire to.
  8. Drop the J pickup and I'd be tempted.
  9. I used to rate her. But I was appalled when I found out on BC that she's anti-plectrumic.
  10. On the left. I have a habit of twatting cymbals and guitarists with the headstock if I'm on the right. Health and Safety.
  11. I used to really enjoy 30 minute sets. You can go full steam ahead. Cut the chat and hopefully have left people wanting more.
  12. A steal at that price. These RS series are great cabs. I prefer them to the BC fanboys favourite brand
  13. Needs to go to Dent Master for a smart repair.
  14. I managed about 3 minutes. I will need to watch Slade in Flame tonight to cleanse my brain of it.
  15. That's the book I mentioned on another thread. That cover's bought back some memories.Got it with my Avon EB0 from Rose Morris. Plugged into a Radiogram that was butchered to make an amp.Dreadful all around. Youth of today. Never had it so good, etc.
  16. I dunno/ Could well have been knocked up at 6 minutes to 8 last night after a heavy afternoon session.
  17. Maybe a Hayman as I can't see the black Shergold chiseller shield on the headstock.
  18. It was Muskie.
  19. Dr Feelgood - Stupidity (live). Never sounded loose and sweaty enough on the studio LPs.
  20. I've got a Korean Strat from the late 80s that I use for songwriting. It's been well loved/abused. Lovely neck and a nice player. Our guitarist had a '51' that he gigged for a bit. It was miles better than a £130 guitar had a right to be. I tried a nearly new CV Precision recently and it was OK. Nothing really good or bad about it. Perfectly gig worthy.
  21. Open to offers/trades for what have you It's a lovely player and a very rock n roll sounding guitar but I'm not using it.
  22. Indeed. I've just bought a couple of sets of Black Beauties from Amazon at £23 a pop all in and delivered within a week as you said.
  23. As an aside. I do find it funny when a well used instrument is devalued and not seen as desirable because someone put a badass bridge on it or changed a volume pot 35 years ago. They add to the character for me. For instance. That 3 pickup EB0 in the for sale section is so much interesting as a possible purchase than an all original one that I would barely give a second glance.
