I'll be in touch HJ.

As the Trace combo has now developed a horrible vibrating noise when I play an Fsharp it's going back for another repair and then it's getting axed. I was very impressed with Happy Jack's Bass Terror when I had use of it at a gig recently so I'm almost certainly going to go for one . Those matching isotonic or whatever they are cabs have been mentioned elsewhere here as not a great idea. I have maybe another £500'ish for cabs. Would like to keep with the compact theme if possible.

The thing that does my head in is all the hanging around before kick off. I like to set up, sound check and then be somewhere else. A light snack locally (no kebabs or the like!) or even just a walk will help. Then a quick pint at the venue just before hitting the stage. Take something to drink onstage. Water if your sensible or a pint if you're like me. It gets hot up there. If you look like you're having fun the audience will be far more receptive. Move around a bit and smile but not to the detriment of your playing. If someone drops a clanger keep playing. It will happen and it's not the end of the world. Good luck.

I shared a Jacuzzi with Elvis Costello at Lamptons in Westbourne Grove. "Alright Elvis keeping busy?" "Yes thanks" was it. I sent Roger Waters out of my shop to get cash because I couldn't get through on the phone to Access to authorise his card. I was married to Mick Fleetwoods step niece. Dennis Wise cut me up when I was on my bike so I leant over and lifted his wipers to the up position at the next traffic lights. He didn't take it well. I'm on Rat Scabies pub quiz team. I've shared gigs with such stellar figures as Happy Jack and Waynepunkdude. Lots more but I can't spoil you all at once.
I am GASsing for a 4001 at the moment. I'm going to have to borrow a friend's to see if I can relieve myself of this idiocy.
A Warwick to a 4001! Good job. When it doesn't work out get yourself a Precision..... .......with a fish on it
I was in the Chinese takeaway the other night across the road from a local "live bands" venue (the sort of place that puts on half a dozen bands a night) and a bunch of young lads came in with their guitars. They didn't even have cases or gig-bags. I suppose you have to start somewhere!!
A friend of mine was in a working band of 15 year olds in the late 60s. They had converted prams and had to load all their gear in them and push them to gigs as they weren't old enough to drive and couldn't take them on public transport. They walked all over West London for over a year doing this. They got signed to Vertigo when they were 17 so I guess it was worth it.

You could go Keith Richards stylee and leave a string off and tune E A D G. How cool would that be?
Me too, there's nothing like a Warwick.
Yeah. They do look funny.
I like the look of the Sansamp pedals myself. Danelectro pedals look cheap and nasty, usually, and I'm not a fan of EHX big box pedals, particularly the ones with the "electrocute yourself at home in 2 easy steps!" power adaptors. We need more effects like this: http://www.deviever.com/
I don't know what that pedal does but I want it!

Valvey warmth through a solid state amp. Which pedal?
Low End Bee replied to Beedster's topic in Effects
Or the plain old Sansamp does the job. Must try one of these VT jobbies soon for a comparison. -
My 2007 Precision p***es all over the 1969 I owned apart from the 'mojo' looks and the stupid S1 switch which is gone now. Fenders just seem to do the job. That said I wouldn't be averse to a Precision alike from another brand if I wasn't content with the one I've got now.

Personally I'd be delighted someone showed the interest to do it.
Oh, and anyone think it slightly tongue in cheek they had Nigel "Den Dennis" Planer doing the commentary? Maybe it was just me.
Vim Fuego was busy. I enjoyed it. The enthusiasm of the fans and people in the bands for the music came over well I thought. It looked like fun. On reflection the HM fans probably had more fun than a punk psoeur like me at the time. -
HAHA I think I might well buy one of these - http://www.thomann.de/gb/fullers_unilock.htm
Thinks whilst walking stagewards "Ha Ha that sorted them......key...sodding key.......where did I put it....not in here..ahh here it is....NO, NO, NO..... that's the door key....Oh Sh.."

I saw Robbie Shakespeare gig with an old Hofner violin thingy of the sort that HJ likes a good few years ago. It sounded like reggae heaven to my ears. Certainly light weight.

To counteract some of this negativity. I have never had a problem with another band and equipment. I always make sure it's sorted well in advance. I mark my amp settings with a little mark of corrector pen so I can reset them in a jiffy if someone else is using them. If we're not on last I plan the stage set up so I can be off in a couple of minutes. It helps that we seem to share bills with bands who are normally sensible people and just want to get on with it with minimal fuss like us. Apart from Wayne of course. Nightmare.........

Programmable sansamp BDDI through a power amp?
Sorry.....whats the difference? lol Si
Bass players seem to be considerate souls on the whole who know how amps work and which buttons to press, etc. Guitarists on the other hand...................

Did the Grey Horse in Kingston last night. This goes down in the good column. Lovely little room with an in house PA. It's like a mini Half Moon in layout. We had about 60 in and it looked packed! You get to keep all your door money too. Parking is a mare though. Use the local Sainsburys car park.
