1. I'm seriously considering getting one of these, E-C tuning- And since this is my fantasy land, I'll have a second tuned B-G. Noice.
2. Further research revealed these snaps. Hope you don't mind DCooper. That is one stunning looking top. (That Drozd ain't half bad neither)
3. I remember this being built waaay back when I first heard of Nordstrand. I'm pretty sure this is the instrument in question (bit of a teaser )-
4.
THanks for the nice comments......the Thinline has been fretted by a local guy, I just couldn't get on with a fretless board. I have been told by Sandberg its the only one that they know of with frets....very unique as I have also added a coil tap and a BURFORD MID CHOKE. This little box removes all of the Mid frquencies to give a dark sound.
Interesting stuff indeed! I'd love to hear how it sounds. Good luck with the sale on this one. A bargain of a price.
5.
that jp is making me drool
Me too! Thanks for the pics and info. I'll have a wee ponder on this.
6. Thanks for the heads up. The Standing in the Shadows of Motown is a must for pretty much everyone on this forum.
7. A visit to the Sandberg workshop-
8. Fantastic looking bass this. I noticed you have a fretted Thinline too. I can't say I've ever seen a fretted one; custom option from the factory? 'Ave a bump.
9. That JP looks formidable! Dare I ask the scale length and string spacing please? Also, more pics would be nice.
10. Very impressive song indeed. I particularly liked the Indian Carnatic type stuff. I really enjoyed that, thanks for sharing.
11. Reggie doing Paul Jackson proud imo. A little self indulgent at times but still very much in the pocket- But nothing compared to the man himself. Every groove is fun-kay!- And an (almost) lost gem- Jay
12. I had a four string version of this. It was a really great bit of kit but sold it to pay for spiralling uni fees. Bah! Also, before selling it, I strung it with Thomastik acousticore strings which work fantastically well with the piezo. The tension was ridiculously low but the tone was pleasantly warm and organic like an amplified upright yet defined. Great instrument.
13. That would go very nicely with my Original four......oh the G.A.S! A great price too no less. It shouldn't hang around for long.
14. Most definitely my dream bass right down to the spec of the pups and pre. A beautiful work of art indeed.
15. I've been really impressed by Alan's level of luthiery of late. He's producing some fantastic stuff and those impregnated boards really set him apart from the crowd. Congrats Mark! Jay.
16. That was great!
17.
Jay's price isn't a million miles out. They would have been about £800-£1000 new originally, perhaps more with the Graphite neck. Most of the Energy models you see around have the wooden neck with the internal graphite rods, so this one is a rarity. I had an Energy Artist 5 with a retro-fitted graphite neck which I sold for £550 a year ago, so this is pretty reasonable. Plus it's in lovely condition, too. Rich.
Aw Rich, I was so close to buying the S2 classic that you recently got. I spent weeks drooling at the 'in stock' page. My time with this bass has definitely shown just how damn good graphite can be. Next year's GAS attack will be horrendous.
18.
I've agreed to pay the full asking price with Jay. I'm just waiting to hear from him about how he wants to be paid. I can't wait to receive it as it looks superb and will make a change from the Stingrays I normally use. Chris
Sold to Chris indeed. Now where's me bubblewrap.....
19.
+1
Whoops, the most important part- £410 (no price increase from when I was selling it a while ago as a result of currency fluctuations. Basschat (and its previous incarnations) has been to good to me over the years)
20. This bass has been on quite a rollercoaster with me. I've sold it, bought it back, put it up for sale only to keep it etc. but my rig needs a further injection of cash as does my Sei bass which needs new electronics so this is most certainly for sale. For a bass which is 10+ years old, it's in very good condition. There are a few very minor marks on the body mainly on the main contact areas on the back and a slight depression over the neck pup where the previous owner rested his thumb. It plays flawlessly with very little fret wear and the set up is low; very low without any audible buzzes. Exactly what you'd expect from a Status. Electronics are all in working order too. Comes with Elixir Nanoweb strings and a Status padded gig bag and will be shipped in hiscox case which is in good condition. Its an early nineties model with-

Walnut body
Graphite neck
2x Status hyperactive J style pups.
More pics on request. SOLD Cheers guys, Jay
21. I'm in the exact same situation as the OP. I just got my hands on a Sei but I'm left slightly underwhelmed by the tone of the Bart pups and/or pre. I find that they are just too dark sounding and lack any bite or sparkle despite spending quite some time with the controls both on the bass and amp. What I'm really struggling with now is what tone am I actually looking for? I thought, given that I play in a jazz/acoustic climate, that a darker sound would be ideal but it doesn't seem to give me goosebumps like my Larkin bass did. Anyway, rather than spend countless hours staring at my bass from across the room, I'm just going to rip its heart out and get a set of Nordy dual coils and East retro deluxe and hope for the best! I'll keep you posted
22. *grumbles to himself* I step away from my computer for two hours....cracking bass at a ridiculous price.
23. Thank you sir! I've been trying to transcribe the head and solo from 'Freddie Freeloader' but my transcribing abilities are less than stellar i.e. god awful so it's always nice when someone does the hard stuff for you. Also, this chap has some great transcriptions on his website-http://www.arcellussykes.com/ Now where did I put my fretless
24. No worries Mat, it'll be available should you not find what you're looking for. Good luck in the search.
25.
BUMP I'm still unsure about selling but it's not getting played at all. I'd love to keep it but I really need something more useful to me (i.e. a fretted bass). Are there really no trades/part-exchanges out there? Musicman Status Fender G&L ...anything else fretted!
My fretted Status is still available
