1. I am soooo tempted by this and the prospect of a project to rehouse the gubbins into something else...

Ibanez SR500

Lovely basses, the ergonomics are great (very slim fast neck, light well-shaped body) good range of tones from the Barts and active EQ, I like them a lot, but I'm off active basses, I think for good. If you're playing a Thunderbird at the moment (as in your pic) they're pretty much the opposite in every way! As always, worth trying before you buy, especially if you're buying new.

Added lightweight cabs or amps for trade possibilities, too.
4. I had a RH450 with one cab (although it was a Schroeder 2x15) and it was always loud enough. Whatever's said about the TC amps and their technical RMS output, their real-world volume is plenty. I'd say the RS212 under your 210 would sort the volume problems in the simplest and probably cheapest way. They come up s/h on here occasionally, too.

Thanks for the compliments guys, she's definitely a head-turner.
Definitely. C'mon peeps, Muzz is a good guy with great gear mand far too close to me. Get this bought before I do something daft (again!).
Karl, doing daft things is 90% of the fun, mate - I've just bought an 8-string! Balance is great, no issues, the strap button position and Ultralites make all the difference. She weighs 9 1/2 lbs by my kitchen scales.

OK, here's a reluctant one, I do like this bass a lot, but I'm so used to passive basses these days I can't get on with actives at all. It's a Warmoth body and neck, probably Ash topped with Warmoth's two-foot-deep-looking flame maple with a blackburst finish and natural masked binding. Neck is maple and rosewood, P-sized nut and matching flamed headstock. Gold Hipshot Ultralight tuners, EMG HZs with a 3-band 18v active EQ with sweepable mids. Like probably lots of us, I'd spent hours idly flicking through Warmoth's website looking at all the options, but I'd never laid hands on any of their stuff until this one came my way, and I'm knocked out by the quality. The finish is fantastic, the flame's lustrous, and the neck joint is airtight - you really have to separate the body and neck with some effort. It's never been gigged, and has only been together a matter of weeks, so there are no dings of note, just a few very small marks which gloss black always shows up. Anyway, here's the first pics, if you need any more let me know. 7. Sold a rack case to Gilles, easy and simple transaction, he's one of the good guys!
8. I contacted Nordstrand at the same time, and the contrast in reply couldn't have been greater - the guys there were happy to discuss what I was after and suggest alternatives and other options.
9. I've contacted them twice over the last few months with queries about pickups which aren't on the website, and both times I've (eventually) had one-line answers of "We don't/can't do that. Sorry." It's a shame, because I love the Wizards I've used, but they don't seem to be interested, as you say, in selling anything which isn't in stock.
10. Do they all have buckles or other metalwork? The site's a bit unclear. I never go for straps that have any metal on them - it's just a scratch waiting to happen...
11. That RS210's a hefty cab you've got there - my Schroeder 2x15 weighs 38lbs... Sorry, thread hijack - if the Big One is as good as the Super12 I tried recently, it'll be fantastic.
12. Just bought a very nice bass from Michael. Packed a treat and posted even before the full payment had arrived - deal with him in confidence, he's one of the good guys! Thanks Michael. Muzz
13. The one I had was in a rack (with ears, natch) but if you wanted to take it out it was still a size. Odd.
14. Just sold a chorus pedal to George, very simple transaction, deal with him in confidence! Cheers George, Muzz
15. Holy crap! D'you think the family might spot if they don't get presents this year?
16.
Dont forget the SVT 7, that is lightweight (Class D), and should sound like an SVT!
Oh yeah, forgot this one - had one for a few weeks: yep, does sound like an SVT (although the 15db pad input kills the tone - use with passive basses and it's fine) but it's an odd shape and size: 15" wide (nearly rack-width, too big for most gig bags) and 15lbs, even though it's a Class D hybrid. It kinda bugged me that they shoulda either shrunk it down to the Shuttle/LM/Streamliner size, or made it a 19" rackmount and maybe put a couple of extra features in. Very loud, tho.
17. As people have mentioned, if you have a Sansamp and VT, your tone is there in those pedals anyway - your choice of head isn't so critical if you want to use the pedals. If you want the sound without the pedals, you might have to choose a bit more carefully. I was after the sound you're looking for, and used a Sansamp with a LMIII for a while, which sounded good, but I was looking for a pedal-less solution, so I bought a RH450 which was good, and had lots of bells and whistles built-in, but eventually, after going through several other heads (I thought the PF500 was a bit, well, meh, and the OTB is great if you like its sound, but a bit bigger), I've settled on a Streamliner 900. Valvey, light and loud, and worth considering. Oh, and the Super 12 is a great cab.
18.
I don't think you should ever settle for less than that.
Ba-zing! Reply of the day...
19. Oh yeah, forgot to add this - we made the final arrangements via off-EBay email.
20. I had exactly this last week, just ended the auction early, he paid cash on collection, we both saved some money. Job done.
21. I play it as G G# C D F G# G F D F. Most of the time...
22. Always happy with This Uneven Sky - the four of us have known each other for 30 years, and it just works on all levels. The covers/function work I do is as part of a dep collective around the main man, and the standard of players has stepped right up recently with some new additions, which has meant me upping my game considerably - always a good thing, and very enjoyable in a completely different way.
