1. That looks like an interesting bass!! Would love to have a blast on it
2.
This is miles better than actually doing work whilst I'm at work, which is the alternative...
We work in similar ways
3. It's been a relatively short wait for a custom instrument, but you're right, can't wait to get my hands on it now!
4.
I have been through several micro amps over as many years. Got tired lifting heavy gear and my aching limbs were happy to sacrifice grid iron heft in favour of portability, small foot print and sheer convenience of small, light gear. Well over a year ago I pulled the trigger on the cheap as chips Kustom KXB500 class D bass amp (377 Euro). I intended to have it as a back up, but to my surprise the little thing kicked every micro I had tried right out of the ball park. It knocks out a thick, syrupy, fat tone with ease. Real heft in every note. My amp GAS in non existence since I started using this thing (other than wanting to purchase a second one). However sadly it is now out of production and therefore unavailable. Guess Kustom did not know what they had on their hands with this baby.
I have one too. I'm no longer looking for any new amp, but if anyone has a Kustom KXB, i'll take it off their hands
5.
Who else wants to know what bass it is ?
meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
6. I loved them. Found them vey useful
7.
Although the concept of tasting drinks as a pulling technique is baffling me
Yup, that's me and you in agreement then The whole situation is pretty bizarre though eh
8. Best bass sound i've ever had was a SWR Marcus Miller Pre amp, into a Peavey IPR1600. Played through Bergantino HD210s. It was brilliant. Ridiculously versatile too. It was too much for what i wanted really. Weight wise and option wise ( i prefer a relatively simple plug n play type set up), but for sheer quality of tone, and tone options, i havent played through anything better. Dont have much experience on other pre amps or power amps, but this particular set up sounded amazing
9.
The OP is amazing, I can't see anyone topping that.
Agreed, but i'm following this just in case someone does. The masking tape badge to "attract" the girls is genius
10. Great cabs. Im sure you'll love them. Look great in Blue
11. Amazing project! Wish i had the skills to be able to do something similar. Just goes to show all the stuff that would otherwise be thrown out, can be put to something useful
12.
Strung up with flats it's great for that dead, thumpy sound, but I still miss having the sheen of rounds for pick playing and slapping ..
Havent you just done that???
13.
practice won't increase your stamina.
Depends what kind of stamina you mean IMO. If it's the kind of stamina where you can play 16th notes, but after a period of time, your stamina goes and the technique falls apart, then practice will definitely help. I used to find it hard to play the octave patterns in ABBAs Gimme Gimme Gimme. Few sessions practicing, and that was remedied. If you mean the stamina to just be able to gig for 2.5 hours, then yeh, gigging is definitely your best bet.
14. I'd agree with the bass collection opinion. Only played one, so i dont have vast experience, but the one i played was great! £150!?!? Cant go wrong! If you dont mind a bit of weight, which im guessing you wont as its for home recording, i'd go for this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/275470-ibanez-mc924-musician-bass-bargain-at-only-l35000/ I have no affiliation with the owner.
15. Isnt the point in changing from pick to fingers that you actually want a different sound? Otherwise there isnt much point in changing anyway is there? I play mostly with fingers, and play one or two with a pick. Only changes i make is i add a liittle more treble when i play with a pick. But that's only because i take treble off to get "my sound" when usually playing with my fingers.
16. I'm shocked they had NO contacts for you. I'll speak to our player see if he knows anyone for you mate
17.
I have a Limelight Precision with jazz bass sadle widht in fiesta red. Amazing sounding and playing bass.
Glad you are still enjoying
18. The Tech 21 doesn't have a DI though does it? Rhys, I played through my dads Roland cube, and that sounded great. Would be ideal, but I'd prefer not to mic
