1. Nice. If it does the job, it's a winner
2.
There was also a hint of a Barefaced amp lurking in the shadows. I'm very interested in that as well.
Really?!!? I look forward to that
3.
Yes, it was you. Definitely you.
Probably was to be fair
4.
I'll play some fingerstyle stuff and some slap stuff to see if the engineer can get a good level even if there's a big level difference between the two.
Same here.
5. Ive been watching in the shadows waiting to see if someone else was going to say the GB Streamliner. Must agree. Might have been me but i didn't get on with it at all.
6.
Im still sceptical about the gig volume as its quite a bit smaller than my 1212L
Wish i could see your face when you turn it on and crank up your amp If you can, get someone else to play whilst you walk around too. That was the most impressive thing to me
7.
It definitely would!
Ok, i'll try again this weekend. Need to take some good photos of it first, then i'll get to work
8. Yeh i use it with a bass with a P&J pickup config, playing motown/funk/soul and it works great for me. You should do a review when it arrives. I was going to, and got half way through. But i'm terrible at putting what i hear into words. Felt it wouldnt be useful to anyone.
9. No pressure then Hahaha. I'm not concrened. It's brilliant. Will you be running it with the F1? Im guessing you may have to EQ it a little differently to when being paired with your Schroeder. But i think you will be impressed. Are you getting a 4 Ohm cab?
10. Let's get some pictures of both when you have a chance. Might be worth you putting a topic in build diaries?
11. Ok thanks for your responses gents, I get where you are coming from. We have two singers. One uses the SM58 and the other has an AKG. I'll pay attention next time to see who is feeding back in the soundcheck! Haha
12. We do try to make the vocals a priority. Might i ask, what is the issue with the SM58? Im not a singer, so have never had one, but i assumed they were highly thought of?
13.
Thanks for the reply. Do you have PA support?
Nope. Never needed it. I dont know what the technical term for it would be (possibly dispersion?), but when i first got the cab i tested it with a friend playing my bass through my set up. I was amazed how clearly i could hear it, and so equally ( as in it sounded the same at every position in the room to my ears). The volume is not an issue either, but that might be down to the amp used? I use a EBS TD650 and its never gone above 11 oclock on volume and 9 oclock on drive and gain. If you ever come down my way your most welcome to come and have a go.
14. Ive no experience with Peavey but wouldnt 3 band EQ suggest bass/middle/treble ? Are any of the knobs stacked? Or is there a push/pull option with any of them?
15. Not a 6 string man myself, but that looks immense. Love it
16. Yeh don't get me wrong, im sure the differences are blatantly obvious to other muso's. But thats not the majority of who we play to at least
17.
Fair enough, I meant no offence, you pitched it very differently in your previous post, e.g "not listening to any of the points i am concerned about", "it will be left to me to set up when we do get it" etc - that didn't sound like your opinion (as the one who would be left to set it up e.g the actual user of the kit) was being respected at all, hence my suggestion that you just get whatever you're comfortable with and use that. Good luck
No offence taken at all. Sorry if it sounded like that. I explained it poorly previously. My fault. JTUK- i agree. I think in going the route we are, we are making sacrifices. But again, they're all putting their trust in the engineer. Which is fair enough really. He has 10 years experience of it being his only job. I cant really blame them. Hopefully it'll all work out and i'll be able to get to grips with it relatively quick. A good sound is obviously important, but how important it is to "Joe Public" Do they notice the intricacies, or do they just enjoy the songs aslong as they can hear the singing? I do wonder.....
18. I dont know anything about Jazz as a genre, but i was impressed by all 4 of them. Same goes with the acoustic players.
19.
Respectfully, that doesn't sound like a particularly long-lasting band dynamic.
Must disagree with this. We aren't strangers who have formed a band. We are all friends, some who studied music together, who thought we would form a band because we have jammed together for years, whilst playing in seperate bands. We found ourselves all to be free to form our own band, so went ahead with it. Surely the fact its a "democracy" rather than a "dictatorship" is a good thing. I might not agree with them, but i respect their decision. Im not necessarily right, and can't assume to be. May not have been completely clear, and thats my fault. Everyone helps with the setup. As in bringing things in, running cables, stacking cabs etc. But i will be left to set the mix. The singers have a working knowledge of the basics (of the mixer we have now) so will probably look to gleen the same level of competancy. Dan Dare, i agree, and that was my point to the other members. It might be a brilliant mixer, but that might only stand true to someone who has a better knowledge of it than i do. In all fairness though, our sound engineer friend has offered to give me tuition on the mixer. He said i can go to some gigs where he works and watch how he sets up, and hes offered to come and set up for us until i think i have the hang of it. For no money. Cant say fairer than that, i just worry it may take me a while. On the whole, im a relatively quick learner, so i hope it wont.
20. Thats a fair point, i just think there are . . . better suited people?
21.
From our range it sounds like you might be best served with a Retro Two10. It'll certainly be loud enough!
I can vouch for this. It is unbelievable! Volume is not an issue and i play in a 6 piece band where the guitarist uses a 400W valve Peavey head, linked to a 4 X 12 cab
22. IMO the 13 year old shouldnt of even got through the first round, as people have previoulsy said. Have to agree with the Huey Morgan comment too!! The other judges showreel highlighted some nice playing, on his showreel he is standing in the middle of the stage playing barre chords
23. Yeh i agree with you Douglas. I have made my point known, but what can i do? The desk they are opting for is the X18. Flight cases have been agreed on so at least that is one thing. Wont be getting it until next month, but yes ill let you know how it all goes.
