1. Thats a good review. Now, i just have to wait for one to come up!!!
2. I'd say both. But a way to test if it is in the fingers is by having a group of 5 or 6 bassists learn the same song, and then have a rig and bass set up that will remain the same for all of them whilst they play, and ask them to play the song. If it is ALL in the fingers, each of them should still sound different. Next bass bash maybe?
3. Looks good. I hadn't heard of that finish before this. Congrats on finding "the one"!
4. Looks great. Reaaaalllllyyyy great
5. Mmmmmmm There may be a tone hammer in the for sale section very soon
6. Cheers I don't think I'll be able to get the money before the auction ends. I will look into it!!
7. I've been scouting all the big name hitters in the "valve world", and I think if money was no object I like the look of the matamp stuff. Discreet, is it this the Burman you mean? : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Burman-SL100-slave-power-amplifier-and-MPA-PA-pre-amp-with-added-guitar-channel-/201351375464?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ee17a2a68 I'm in south Wales so I could potentially visit this gent and have a play I didn't know sadowsky did valve amps. Bet they're a bit rare!
8. Yeh I'm happy to buy second hand, I know I'll get more for my money that way. I hopefully will find something I can try out before buying, but that's not a necessity (?) Never even seen a Burman other than on here, but I'd take a look for sure! Yeh I did think about the Ashdowns. Any other Barefaced with valve users out there?
9. Playing through my retro 210 in a recording session with my Aguilar TH as normal. Sound is great. Really really happy with it. It's our friends studio and he hadn't heard a barefaced before and he loved it, but suggested I tried one of his amps, just to see how it sounded. It was a Trace Elliot valve amp of some kind. I think it was the hexavalve. The sound was something else. Incredible. Now I won't have enough to buy one of these. I think he said he paid £800 second hand. But what options are there for around £500? Are there any?? Anyone here play their barefaced with a valve amp?
10. If you aren't ever likely to be outside the house playing, I'm guessing the weight isn't an object for you? If thats the case you could get some older Trace Elliot kit. If I wanted a setup that I wasn't planning on moving much, that's what I'd do
11. Hot stuff was pretty tricky for me when we first started playing it. Ok with it now, but took a while to get up to speed with it
12. Ben just sold me his ACG Really easy transaction. Comms were great and the packaging of the bass was top class. Have no hesitation in making a deal with Ben. Cheers mate
13. Well i keep my basses in the garage loft. So i end up learning new songs on my 6 string acoustic guitar! Just because that is what is closest to hand. Ive been waiting for a cheapish acoustic bass to pop up too though. Ideal for the house
14. I think its more about offending the Musicman Forum for modding a Stingray... I may be wrong!
15. Dont fall for it. Its a trick!!!
16. Looks great!! Love the Purpleheart detailing
17. Such a good bass. I'll not be letting go of mine
18. I've had this kind of thing happen to me. Not with the whole having to go abroad to meet them. But i've had someone contact me and tell me they wanted me in their band because their friend had "seen" a vision of his band playing an American tour, and i was in it. So crazy as it sounds to some of us, there are definitely people who 100% believe in these things.
19. Does seem odd. But yeh, why not play along? As soon as they ask for any bank details or passport details, thats when to walk away. Or you could ask to be paid through paypal, see what they say to that! haha
20. Lovely bass, but a bit out of my price range. Have a bump on me though!
21.
Oh man, somebody buy this before i spend all ive saved on it.
Spend it, spend it, spend it
22. Nirvava - Nevermind. The first album that ever got me into music and playing music myself. Before this, i hadn't even considered picking up an instrument Blink 182 - Carousel - At the time, i thought the bass intro was the greatest bass line ever written, and once i'd conquered it, i will have made it Jamiroquai - Travelling without moving - Blew my mind. Loved everything about the album. Still do. I'd always been so against everything "pop" up until this point. Really opened my mind to what a dick i'd been Tony Rich Project - Nobody Knows - No idea why, but i absolutely love this song! Listened to it over and over and over. Jaco - Teen Town - This was the first Jaco song i heard. Not really my thing, but it changed the way i thought about what was possible on a bass
23. Cracking job Andy Turned out superb!!
