1. Always good to hear about things like this. Happy days
2. I try not to. I practice playing without looking too. All the hard parts and the easier parts. In the house, its not a problem, i manage it quite easily. But when gig time comes, i do end up looking at it for some parts. I'm ok with that too, as i'd prefer to play the parts correct and have to look down every now and again.
3. Cheers Marc, yes all planned for Friday. Fingers crossed for a smooth moving day!
4. Yeh, i'm with you. Great band name by the way!
5.
That is lovely. I've never seen that finish before. I'm surprised that nobody has asked the annoying question of "how much does it weigh?" Glwts
Thank you Im quite surprised too! It doesn't feel too heavy, but it is well balanced. I'll weigh it tonight and post my results
6. Glad it seems to be sorted for you, every bassist deserves his dream tone
7.
I wish someone would buy my American Special!
Me too, some people are just so selfish aren't they??
8.
Alan's also experimented with chambering basses to lighten them. The only advice I can give on that front is to go through the ACG gallery and look at the finishes there. I personally like the acrylic impregnated finish such as but my taste is very likely wildly different from yours.
That is unbelievable! I love it!!! Oh crap, how much are ACGs?
9. Looking great so far Andy! Its gonna be a beast
10. In situations like that, you wonder why they book the band in the first place right?
11. Hold On I'm Coming by Sam and Dave Love the horn part, and its a cool song to play

J dilemma
mmmm.... DiMarzio Model J's: £100 Fender Flatwounds: £20 ....worth a punt, surely?
You can lead a horse to water......
13. Hahaha yeh we only have the one guitarist, but he can talk cack with the best of em. Always have the desk next to me too. The frustrating thing is when we are having issues (feedback), i'll tell them why we are getting it and they dont listen. Guitarist will usually suggest "turn it all up so you can't hear the feedback"....... What a pearler
14. Can't believe how cheap quality Thumbs are going for!

J dilemma

Any reason why you want to stick with the rotosounds? Because my suggestion was going to be flats.
16. One bass. PJ pickup configuration with active electronics gives me all the tonal options i need. We play a bit of everything too.
17. Yeh good shout Lozz, I'd agree with that
18. I've not tried an F1 so cant comment. My LM2 through my MarkBass rig was great though.
19. I found MarkBass to be very clean sounding. Have you tried much of their kit?
20. https://www.youtube.com/user/infusion26 I generally look at this gents covers. He has covered a lot of songs we play. The bass is always clear to pick out, and usually pretty close to the original as far as i can tell.
21. Well you aren't faking it if you've learnt it are you? Sure, you might be considered better at working out by ear a bass line, if that's what you do. Doesn't mean you're a faker if you don't do it like this IMO. A bass player in a band is only ever required to learn a song. Whether that be by charts, tabs, videos or ear makes very little difference, as long as you can play it!
22. Im with you. No need to get butt hurt over it. Dont want to accept? Say no. Move on.
