I think it does depend on if you want to play covers or orignals too. IME anytime ive tried to go the originals route, its always been harder to get anything going. Whether thats just down to the mentality of people wanting to pay purely originals, i dont know. The two most successful, and by sucessful i just mean gigging 2 or 3 times a week, bands ive been in were always made up of people i know. The definite bonus of this is if someone isnt pulling their weight, theres no tip toeing around the subject. You can tell your mate exactly the situation. "Stop being a dick and learn the songs". etc I would say try and get people involved that you know, or know of. But i'm aware it isnt always that straight forward. The current band im in is all made up of people i knew. But of the 5 of us, i didnt know 3 of them played instruments before i started asking around. So ask around. Be proactive and get the word out there that your een to get something going. Cant do no harm!

Loud cabs to match Genz Benz Streamliner 900
FuNkShUi replied to MonkeyTrick's topic in Amps and Cabs
The big twin t in the wanted section is mine. Can confirm it would crush the rest of the band. I've used a Carvin bx with it, a little Mark II and I'm currently using a Marcus miller pre with a peavey 1600w power amp and the volume has never needed to go halfway in any situation. It's usually between 2&3 with MM I've been using. -

Thanks gents Looks like LEDs are the wy forward. We wont concern ourselves with outdoor gigs as we probably only do 2 maybe 3 a year. Cheers

Very useful info. HJ think i will probably go with your suggestion. Two of those will hopefully suffice. If we want/need to add more, we can always do so later on down the line. Thanks gents

So we are looking to get a little bit of lighting sorted for the band. Problem being, none of us hve any experience whatsoever with lighting! This just came up on Gumtree, and as its reatively local thought it could be a good solution for us: http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/stage-and-band-lighting-equipment-bargain/1076747770 Does this seem like a good deal? I think its pretty much what we need. Cheers

Firstly, this is the bass: I can take more on request, these are just what i had on my desktop already. The bass is in excellent condition, with very few marks. One feature i love is it has dual single coil pickups in the bridge position with switchable wiring which opens up the tonal possibilities even further (with the 3-band EQ, it can do almost anything). Heres some official Spec straight from Clovers website: BODY wood: two piece american red alder body straplocks: lockable standard style straplocks bridge: chrome plated brass bridge finish: selected glossy polyester finish NECK scale: 864 mm (34") wood: bolt on canadian hard rock maple neck fingerboard: maple fingerboard / mother of pearl dots fingerboard radius: 457 mm (18") frets: 24 medium sized frets trussrod: double dual action trussrod machine heads: chrome, capsuled machine heads finish: handpolished silk matte polyurethane finish Controls [1] Push/Pull Volume Control By pulling the volume knob, the active preamp will be bypasssed (true hardware-bypass), which deactivates the tone controls. The bass works without power supply (if required). In case that all tone controls are at the center position, your hear no tonal difference between the active and the passive mode. [2] Pickup Pan Control Tone Controls: [3] Treble · [4] Mid · [5] Bass The center position (at 12:00) is flat, rotating the control clockwise will boost and rotating the control counterclockwise will cut the tone. [6] pickup preselector The pickup preselector mixes the bridge pickup and the middle pickup together. In towards the neck position, the middle pickup is activated, in towards the bridge position, the bridge pickup is activated. In middle position the bridge pickup and the middle pickup are routed in parallel. [7] booster mode switch The Avenger booster circuit adds an extra amount of ultra low end and aggressive mid punch (bridge- and middle pickup are routed in series). It is activated in towards the bridge position switch setting and overwrites all settings done by the pickup preselector [6]. The booster circuit works strictly analogue without electronical boosts and is also available in passive playing modes. Tech note: All pickup settings are humfree. PICKUPS neck position: DELANO JSBC-HE custom pickup (twin coil in-line humcanceller pickup) bridge position: 2x DELANO JSBC-HE custom pickup (twin coil in-line humcanceller pickup) switchable to single coil rear, single coil front, parallel- & serial mode ELECTRONICS DELANO custom three-band active electronics with ultra low noise circuit bypassable to full passive operation CONTROLS 1x volume (push-pull), 1x balance, 1x bass, 1x mid, 1x treble 1x coilsplitting mini-switch, 1x power mode switch DIMENSIONS string spacing @ bridge: 20 mm (0,79") +- 0,5 mm string spacing @ nut: 11 mm (0,43") neck width @ nut: 43 mm (1,69") neck width @ 24th fret: 63 mm (2,48") body length: 502 mm (19,76") overall length: 1115 mm (43,90") This bass also has a 3D bridge, which means it can be adjusted in height aswell as spacing to be a flexible as possible. Plenty of information about them on that website too. I will of course accept a cash sale, but im looking for a trade ideally. Only thing im adamant on is that it has to be 4 string. I never get any use out of 5s. Warwicks are top of my wish list. As always, trial of the bass is welcomed, as are any questions. Cheers

Over thinking when playing - is it just me?
FuNkShUi replied to Osiris's topic in General Discussion
I always get the intro to Budapest wrong. Its probably the easiest thing i play in the whole set. But because i could never remember the rhythm of it at the start,i keep doubting what im about to play is correct. Its the same note, played three times!! Im curretly sitting in work without my bass, and i can remember how it goes, but i know as soon as i go to play it.. . . . Brain fart. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAnd its gone -
*HUGE PRICE DROP* Now £750* Ive recently acquired this off Paul (HotelEcho) Its an amp ive wanted for a long time. Ive always been in bands that played our own music, and this would have been perfect for that. Ive had two full voume band practices with it and it is a beast. Its full of warm valvey goodness. Realy growls. PLENTY of bite. I play in a mosty motown/soul covers band now and this isnt suited, as much as i hoped it would be But as i say, its something i always wanted to own, and thought that i should take the opportunity to own one while i could, to at least have a go. It is in the exact same condition as when i bought it from Paul. That advert is here: http://basschat.co.u...remier-edition/ Its paired with my Barefaced Big Twin T at the minute and sounds huge if anyone would like to come down and have a trial first. All trade offers are welcome.A cash adjusment, either way, is also fne by me.... as is cash sale I can take more pictures on request, and im happy to try to answer any questions you may have. Cheers Kert
