2. Yeh it is a shame. This in 4 strings would be my pefect bass. Love the look of it, but it isnt to be. Thanks for the correction, i wasnt aware of that!
3. Wont be on again till sunday type bump Has to be a trade for a 4 string please. Thats the only reason im trading Thanks
4.
Squire!? I was thinking a Westfield :-) What sort of stuff do you have in mind 4 string wise? Any particular stuff take your fancy, any certain makes etc?
Westfield?!?! you sold me Genuinely though, i have nothing specific in mind. I would prefer it to be active, but thats by no means a necessity. Would prefer a J style setup, but again, i will consider anything. Im waiting for something to catch my eye and take my fancy. Sorry i couldnt be more specific, but i really havent got my mind set on anything in particular
5. Haha, yeh could really be interested in a squier as a swap (not really!!) I didnt post a price as i didnt think to as im not interested in selling. I would say its worth between £800 and £900. But like i said, just try me. Ive had a couple of offers, but unfortunately they have been for other 5 strings. The reason this is going is because the 5 strings are giving me a problem with my fretting wrist. So 4 strings only please. Thank you
6. I bought this not long ago. My problem is that its 5 strings and is causing serious problems with my wrist. So im looking to go back to four strings. This bass is huge sounding and can sound like ..... anything you want it to really. The Aguilar pre amp is one of the best ive tried. Here it is: The pics and specs can be found here: http://www.mygear.com/items/view/14465 Only change to that spec sheet is that i am not the first owner, and it was made in Chile, not USA. Everything else is accurate. More pictures can be found here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...=alfonso+iturra These pics and information are from a previous owner on here, so i hope he doesnt mind. So if youve got anything of similar value, that you think i might be interested in trading, send me a message. Worst i can say is no! I am not interested in a sale. Thanks
7.
http://marshallamps.com/product.asp?productCode=MB4210 Obtainable new £300, even cheaper second hand. Absolutely kicks ass.
I have the MB4410. Like Nick said, great combo! Little too heavy for me though, Thats the only reason im selling mine. If your back can handle it, youll love it. Served me brilliantly over the last year for all my gigs
8.
BISCUIT FACT The industry standard test to ascertain the difference between a biscuit and a cake is thus. Left in the open atmosphere of standard temperature and pressure, A biscuit will become softer. A cake however will become harder. This was used in the Jaffa cake affair to persuade the powers that be that their product was in fact a cake and not a biscuit, saving themselves a fair old whack in tax. Apparently, There is no VAT on cakes, but a chocolate covered biscuit attracts VAT as a luxury item.
Someone watches Qi!! Cool pedals by the way!!
9. Loved the drummer. Liked how into it he was aswell! I thought the guys playing bass were good. Yeh, i understand its not everyones thing, and thats fine. But what a few maybe arent realising is, he didnt play that gig worrying about what the people of youtube were going to think. So maybe after the reaction he was getting to the slap bits he played, he thought hed turn it up a notch to give the crowd what theyd seemed to want. Just an idea, not saying im right! But yeh, drummer rocked it
10.
My band does a lot of weddings and functions etc, and ALL of them are word of mouth and people seeing us at both public shows and the functions....it's a domino effect! I know that doesn't help much, but the trick is to play plenty of public shows, we're out usually 2 times a week as a band, not including the guitarist and singer going out as a duo, the sheer amount of gigs means that people are gonna see us and want to book us at some point. 2 Years ago, we had very little function work, 80% public work probably. The last two years have seen it go to maybe 60/40 public to functions, possibly even 50/50, it's that domino effect at work. We don't have any 'press packs' or demo CD's, never done wedding fairs etc. We have some videos on youtube, but most people who book us have either already seen us, or we do enough shows to be able to invite them to see us! Si
This is what happened with our band. Never intended to play any weddings really. After playing one as a kind of favour, it all took off. We probably play one wedding a month, which is plenty for me. Only so much of "wonderful tonight" i can play!! So yeh, go out, play some shows and get your singer to make it known to whoever may be watching that you play functions/weddings etc. And, as everyone has said, a good bit of online marketing is sure to help! Just a quick side question. What seems to be the most popular choices of 'first songs' other wedding bands play? I'd say ours was definitly Wonderful Tonight. Although "Im Yours" is definitly getting to be a popular choice.
11. This is back up for sale now. See if theres any firm interest in it this time. Cash only now though as i dont need another bass right now. Make me an offer. Im willing to throw a hard case in with it, but thats only if a collection is possible, otherwise itll be posted in a padded box at the buyers expense. Cheers!
12. Im sure we could do it. Whether theyd want us too......dunno. Our sound is a little different so really up to you/them. Can hear our music at www.myspace.com/theomegablend Do covers ranging from Marvin Gaye to The Stones to BonJovi, through to more modern numbers. Can fill a set with our own songs too. If we are of any use, give me a shout

14. cheers for all the suggestions gents. Ive actually been trying to get hold of Dave Dearnley as he had been suggested to me before. Hard man to get hold of though!! So ill go with one of the other suggestions i think. Ill let you know how it turns out. Thanks again! kert
15. Just acquired a new bass, absolutely love it. Unfortunately one of the tuning pegs were damaged in transit. I need to get this repaired, and also i thought id may aswell give it a good set up at the same time. Anyone any thoughts?? Cheers Kert
16.
Now waiting for the photos....
Me too! Great story though, but the pictures would be the icing on the cake!! maybe a recording too.... or am i asking too much
17. cool stuff. Having a drummer that grooves is a huge bonus eh?!?! Like it all though, nice tone on your bass. Seem real tight with the drummer, and like your singers voice. On all the songs. Think my favourite is Scarlet Blue for what its worth. Very cool!!
18. New song we added that people seem to love is "sweet disposition" by Temper track. I think its because people dont expect bands to cover it. We have no keyboard player, but our guitard plays with decay and to be fair to him, sounds pretty good. Always see peoples faces light up when they realise what it is. Stupidly easy on bass too
19. In respect of all these threads, just wanted to say cheers for putting the time in. Theyve all helped me a load and im sure others are in the same boat! Thanks again
