    Chorus Pedal

    Ive got the Boss Ce-2b. Its ok. When i got it i didnt really know what to expect, but i was underwhelmed to be honest. There just didnt seem to be a massive difference when the pedal was on, to when it was off IMO. I still use it, but i would like to have something a little more noticeable, so may be loking to change it soon.

My tutors reply was "how do you want to set up your bass" i think what he was trying to get at is you set it up how it feels comfortable for you. There is no right or wrong way. Have a play about, try different things. Personally i dont like roundwounds for slap. Takes away some of the "zing" IMO. I have a relatively low action and use D'addario. 45-105 gauge i think. Thats what i had for the EP i recorded (website below) and it works for me. The song called Funk Shui has a slap line

  7. I had the Boss loop pedal bought for me off flea bay. My partner didnt realise it said on the advertisement that the pedal isnt working! I contacted the seller just to ask if he knew what the problem was. He said it was working, and he put it in a drawer and forgot about it for 3 years. Got it out, and then it wasnt working. *MAGIC* Was just wondering if there any common faults i could possibly look for myself? Its the Japanese version of the pedal. I dont know if that makes a difference
  8. cheers again for all the advice, and thanks! i spoke to the warehouse they are being distributed to, and ive been told Lakland have sent a couple over. So when they come in ill get a phone call, and ill be able to go up and try whatever is there. There'll definitly be a DD, but the rest is just chance. Im hopin they put a few US series in the shipment by mistake

  10. Yeh im going to get the Skyline model, just because i didnt think i could justify spending that much extra when the advantages arent that obvious i guess. I know some people will say its worth it, but IMO, i didnt think i could justify it. I have got the option of trying a few out. The UK distributor for Lakland is Headline Music store, so i can travel up there to have a go of a few of them. I liked the DD when i played it, but i like what ive heard of the JO too. So yeh, definitly worth a try i reckon!

  12. Ive been very lucky to pick up an endorsement deal with Lakland and was looking for advice/opinions on the different availible models. I have played the Duck Dunn, and loved it. So for this reason, this is the model im leaning towards getting. Unless someone on here can persuade me otherwise. Basically i havent played any other Lakland, so was looking for advice and recommendations off people who have. I play in a couple of bands. One does covers, and one does originals. So it needs does need to be quite versatile. Ta very much

Ive started practisin a few of the suggestions by Rob, but with varied levels of success!! whilst wishing the hours away in work this week, ive decided to take the "basslines" book i have into work, and im going to try and go through the whole book, just writing out what each and every note is. Hopefully this will make me more familiar with each of them, and will mean when im playing i wont have to think about what each of them are when reading. Will just seem like reading (thats the hope) Ill let you know how it goes. i have started writing the notes out, and stumbled upon an arrangement by Jaco. "chromatic fantasy". I hadnt heard it before. Quite tricky to say the least!

But thank you, i know your right, because without a teacher, any bad habits i could develop would go unoticed, and would be a lot harder to lose!

Certainly opened my eyes and gave me a lot of motivation again!! I was in your position not so long ago, and after a bit bit of persuading, i booked a lesson....best decision i could of made!! im enjoying again, and fully motivated!
  16. Recording at the studio run by the son of Phil Campbell from Motorhead. Its built as a part of his house, and the bathroom is indoors. Inside the bathroom the walls are filled, and i mean completely covered with photos of Phil and Lemmie meeting all sorts of famous celebs from around the world. This was quite a surreal site to be surrounded by whilst. . . doing your business!! Never thought id have the queen watching me on the toilet

Been going wrong on bits i know i can play, but finding it hard to see whats coming (notes-wise) and play at the same time. Kind of like the "bottleneck" effect when your learning to drive a car im guessin!! ill persevere

  22. 2 years ago when i started playing i wanted to understand how musical notation worked. So i kinda taught myself as best i could. Could never say i could read it, but i could understand it, and given 15 mins with music, i could work it out. 2 years later and ive decided to pick it up again. I have lessons with a great teacher, and he has leant me a book to work from. Only problem being the songs in the book are by Stanley Clarke,Marcus Miller and Jaco. Great book, and great songs and usually love to play. But I could do with working on some less complicated pieces of music for the time being, to ensure im actually reading it, not just playing it how i know it sounds ( i try my best not to do this, but just cant help it sometimes ) So, does anyone have any recommendations they found useful when learning?
  23. Ive got a PBass deluxe MiM. Nice bass for the money!! i agree the bridge pickup is a bit too quiet, but i dont use that much, so not really a problem for me. And its got a Leo Quann Badass 2 on it, so as for the stock bridge, i cant comment. Its my stand in bass at the moment, but i wouldnt hesitate to recommend them. For the money they're a bargain IMHO
