1.
Haha. They really are pretty good. I gigged mine extensively for a year there, including sone pretty big stages, and it never let me down. If it's run through decent cone area then 250 watts will be more than enough for the majority of situations. Perhaps a bit bland sounding, but I think that's just a markbass thing.
Is it 250 watts at 8 or 4 ohm?
2. I used to use a LM2, and was extremely happy with it, but obviously want a reasonable cab to go with it, and if I got a LM2 for £250, that doesn't leave much change for a cab :/
3. Not fussed about weight (still the sunnie4 side of 30!). Seen the fender TV combos - they look and sound nice!
4. I've played a couple of ashdown rigs (mag and abm rigs) and couldn't get on with them :/ what else you got?
5. Right guys need some ideas... My band went on hiatus back in December as both me and the drummer needed a break (me as I had a young family and drummer had a new business). Since then I had to sell my entire rig to fund a new clutch and gearbox for my Vdub Van (which I have since swapped for a Audi). I have since replaced my Lakland with a Squier VM P 5 (which is nicer than I thought for the money!). I am now on the lookout for a reasonable gig rig for the cheap (£300-£400 max). At present got a couple of gigs booked for back end of summer, so needs to be able to compete with my old rig (markbass LM2 & 104hf). I know I can't get as good a rig as before but seeing at tech is getting better and better by the day, I need some ideas! The band is a 4 piece (2 guitars/ 1 & keys) so need to be able to sit nicely at the bottom but cut through when solo kicks in! Cheers! Joe
6. Bought a VM Precision V from Andy, awesome quality, quick delivery - top bloke!
7. An aggy 4x10 at £300 and its still here??? God people must be skint!
8. Where abouts in east yorkshire are you?
9. Had 2 55-01's and can say these are great gigging basses - used mine for a variety of gigs over 3 years, never skipped a beat. Shame I had to sell my last one for car repairs GLWTS bud
10. Stupid price for this amp! If I didnt need to get a bass at the end of the month, this would of been on my list! GLWTS
11. If the bass plays and feels nice, its always worth upgrading the electronics, whether its a £100 bass or a £5000 bass....just my 2 cents
12. Why hasn't this gone???? Thank god my van hasn't sold yet, otherwise this would be on the way to me! GLWTS
13. Yup! Devastated that its out of the door tomorrow....even more devastated handing a grand over to the garage
14. Cab now sold - head still available
15. Volume and tone for each, a blend knob, and the switch flicks between series and parallel....pretty much every passive adjustment possible!
16.
Thought the 5501 had bartolini pups

Seems like a bit of a bargain for someone. The pickups have been replaced I think jassbass.

The Nordstrand pick ups are a definite upgrade on the Bartolinis, that's for sure. This is a lot of bass for the money, as the saying goes. GLWTS
The Nordys alone are retailing at Bass direct for £220.
17. No, Passive - cant remember but someone on the forum set it up. I had this and a standard 5501 and this one quickly became my go-to. Honestly if I didnt need to sell, I wouldnt, but with a grand car bill, I need to release some equity
