No one a MTD player?

Just to let people know, I play in a 4 piece rock covers band (2guitars, 1 alternating with keys), as well as a glam rock band with the same setup!

Currently selling my Ray35 as the stingray sound just isn't cutting it for the band im currently in, so looking for alternatives to backup my Lakland (which I love!) Whats peoples thoughts on the MTD Kingston Z5? Looks and sounds pretty impressive on youtube, just wanna know other peoples opinions before I start searching for one!

I use a tc bh500 into a markbass 410, with plenty of spare volume. I used to use a genz benz shuttle 6 into a barefaced compact and that was loud enough for most pub gigs. It obviously depends on the music u play, how big the room is, and how loud ur drummer is! Would recommend the genz benz stuff tho, and its on offer at gak at the moment

If that's true, why would it work in passive mode? surely if the contact was shagged it wouldn't work in either mode?

A odd thing happened at my gig on Friday night. Was setting up and sound checking, just using a vocal PA (small venue), and my Preamp on my Lakland seem to just lose 'umph' as to say. The volume between the preamp and in passive was massively in favour of passive. After inspecting the preamp for any loose/damaged wires or solders (and changing for a fresh battery), I 'gave up' and thought I'd just have to run the gig passive. About 15 mins before playing, it seemed to resolve itself and the preamp was fine again. The same thing happened about 6 months ago during a practice. I had it taken to 2 different technicians, who both couldn't find anything wrong with it. Both said the components were good, all connections were fine. Has anyone else had the same issue with their Lakky? Its the mk1 bartolini preamp to clarify. Would rather get it sorted than have the preamp die on my suddenly mid gig! Cheers Joe

Fingers crossed Been considering just going all TC with a matching pair of BC212 cabs - but we'll see how the genz benz sounds!

After switching to a 4ohm 212 cab from my Compact. Nowt wrong with the compact - great cab! But not getting enough out of it being 8ohm, and I cant justify owning 2 (can't justify to the missus!) So has anyone in the Hull/York area have a Genz Benz NX2 212T cab I could try out at a gig? I wanna see how well it performs in a gigging situation before taking the plunge. PM if you are willing to lend me one - theres a couple of free complementary beers for u Cheers Joe

I love how my Ray plays- tis so comfortable - but I cant seem to get used to the sound of a single pickup. So instead of getting rid, id like to do a bit of modification! So a few questions:- 1. Pickup wise, do I need to get a pickup voiced the same or do is there one specifically for the neck position? 2. What price am I looking at for fitting for routing out and fitting a humbucker by a reliable luthier? 3. Can anyone recommend a good luthier Hull/ York way? Cheers Joe
