I bought this recently from another basschatter as a backup bass but it doesn't get much action as I seem to play my other RV4 Sadowsky the whole time. As a result I am putting this one back up for sale for what I paid for it just before Christmas - £1250. In great condition with just a couple of very minor dings on the body. Sounds fabulous (it's a Sadowsky after all) with a great 70's look. Black blocks and binding and the full size J body rather than the downsized body of some Sadowsky models. I have only had the bass for a few months but from the serial number it appears to be less than a couple of years old at the most. Just wanted to add to this thread as I just got back from New York this weekend and managed to get to the Sadowsky workshop for an hour last week whilst I was over there. All that you may have read about the place before I am happy to confirm is true. I got a warm welcome from Alex and there was plenty of new NYC basses to try out at my leisure in the showroom. Roger Sadowsky was such a good guy and so happy to see us even though we weren't there with $3k to spend. (I did come away with some strings but that was it!) I am a Sadowsky fan so I have to admit to being a little biased, but my impressions of the Sadowsky setup have only been confirmed. The people there genuinely care about their craft and have an obvious pride in the company. It is nice when your expectations are exceeded.
once again: overseas ok?
Sorry for delay in getting back to messages - the response to this ad has been pretty impressive! I may ship overseas if the local interest comes to nothing but I would prefer to do a deal with someone without the hassle of shipping etc. Regards Neil.

From Sadowsky website : 'Sadowsky Metros are not "mass-produced factory basses" so they afford the player who does not require premium woods or custom options the opportunity to play a Sadowsky at a more attractive price point.' Even better if you can pick one up 2nd hand! I bought this one new direct from Sadowsky in April 2007. This is a great bass but I have just made a couple of purchases that mean that I need to move this one on. In really good condition. Lightweight Sadowsky case included in the sale. Controls are - Volume / Blend / VTC (vintage tone control) with push pull active passive / bass & treble boost stack knob Looking for cash sale rather than a trade thanks. Price - £980
Bugger... one of the heaviest basses I've ever owned! Didn't really notice it tooo much til I put it int he gig bag and carried it... WOW! Feels like it weighs twice as much as the Lakland JO. Still, it'll do 'til I get a nice light Sadowsky...
I think I'd maybe go for a tort or a black scratchguard on that one Steve.
What exactly is the reason you like vintage gear..would like to know the exact reasons for this preference to older gear....is it the sound of an old valve amp, the (i hate this word) Mojo of an early bass...i believe as a musician (apart from the asthetic qualities) you should buy the gear that suites you most in every aspect of your playing... i would like to try out an early 60's jazz but personaly find it a bit daunting..seems its a little bit of a mine field, especially with the sort of cash they go for...ive had a few basses, but in the end ive come down to two basses that i cant really fault, and give me the sound, feel and playability that i want.. alot of 'modern gear' is very hard to beat, i defy any vintage bass, to match a Sei jazz for performance..0r any othr high end instrument,.. unless you find something old, thats very special...The evolution of design is inevitably going to make things erm...better.(not always i know) My own views are that bass and amp building are better than they were 20/30 years ago, no doubt about it...for me wanting vintage gear is more about a certain sound, nostalgia, or an investment...im a jazz bass nut so i love the thought of a 62 jazz, but the reality is, i would rather spend 3-4 grand on an Alleva or Celinder than a 62 jazz...unless the jazz was amazing!! the bottom line is there is room for both..an old bass through a modern valve amp, a modern bass through a vintage amp.and mix it up..pays your money, take choice...there is so much choice you can get lost..for me a CS jazz or Sei through an Aguilar is enough...still like to funk a 62 jazz through a valve Ampeg though. i certainly wouldnt just stick to vintage gear though,, the modern world of bass has so much to offer...
+1 to pretty much all of the above. I am playing a Nordy VJ5 bass that has to be nicer than any old Jazz, certainly that I've come across up to now. And my Aguilar, Bergantino rig is half as heavy as vintage stuff usually is with no loss of quality in terms of sound. (It's probably better actually.) I will qualify that with the fact that I would still love to own a nice old P Bass, just because they do have a certain something if you find the right one. Neil.

No-one interested? It seems a shame that this could be wasted. Neil.

I have a ticket for this gig on 22 November at the Barbican in London and may not be able to make it. Just wondered if anyone might want to have my ticket - for a small fee(!) I would imagine that this will be a great gig having seen Marcus Miller before. PM me if you're interested. Regards Neil.

Hi Clarky, You've put some nice gear together there for sure. Your jazz is a classic look that fits in anywhere. All the best Neil (The Epi 3x10 you sold me is still going well by the way.)
