1. Hi Zenitram I think they were for a bridge cover - like I said in the OP, fellow BCer Talon got the bass from ebay, or perhaps I should say rescued it from ebay - I think it had suffered some abuse poor thing. However, it plays proper good and the neck is true and clean.
2. No, no battery box - they're passive.
3.
Whats the width and depth of the neck at the nut, please?
Hi Sambrook The width at the nut is 45mm - I'm not sure how to measure the depth, suffice to say the neck profile is very thin at the nut and not at all P like as the 45 mm might suggest.
4. Take a listen to Zadok btw, brightened my evening last night
5. Hi As it says on the tin really - I dug out an old post in my content history that I created on 28th Feb this year for a Columbus jazz bass with the intention of putting it back up for sale after I'd withdrawn - but it is marked in red and won't let me get hold of it. Can you help me re-activate it? Cheers Chris
6. The Yamaha BBN5 is a great budget bass, and starter bass for moving onto five strings, with the added spice of this one having been fitted with EMG pick ups which offer great depth of sound and punchy punch. It's in fair nick, with only a few body scuffs - the neck is straight, the frets are in very good shape and all electronics work as they should. Vol/Vol/Tone controls and all passive ** For the observant, I've split this from its previous sale which was alongside a Yamaha fretless. They are now two seperate ads
7. With Ibanez Musician two weeks back - heavy beast, great tone, concentrating face
8. i think there were a few vintage, but fender, italia, musicman, sterling, squire, and I'm sure others - I got playing a Fender Jag so didn't pay that much attention to other stuff
9. I don't know if someone's remarked on this already, but if they did, I missed it... I was down said London street last week, killing time before a train, so I thought what the hell, I'll go to that irreputable bass place where the staff are aloof and couldn't give a monkeys etc, as has been well documented on here - BUT...what is this? It's no longer there because Wunjo Guitars, on the same street, have no basses in their regular shop because they've moved them two/three doors up to where that nasty lil old bass guitar shop used to be. Was it the Bass Cellar? Well they're gone, and there's now essentially Wunjo Basses - acting as a shop all of its own. And it was a pleasure. Friendly, not terribly pushy service, chatty, in no way surly or aloof and the set up of the shop was brighter, all those amps that used to stacked in the middle all gone, and now you can see the stock clearly. Admittedly, the stock wasn't terribly out there, not sure it competes with the Bass Gallery, but I think it's worth noting as a revision; esp for when people next ask on here, "I'm visiting London, what is there in Denmark Street, is it worth going there?" I think it's improved its offer a whole lot with Wunjo doing what they've done. ** Saying all that I wasn't taking a lot of notice of prices, I had no intention to buy, but there was a new Sterling Sub for around £450 ish (??) and a Fender Jaguar for £850 ish?? Average prices??
10. yeah I'm not sure tbh - I have always played with nothing, but gigged with a band last week and the guy got some great sounds out of his jazz - he was only using a compressor and EQ no effects as such - but his sound was tight and solid - got me wondering - but that's sort of my question, cos if the sound guy for example adds compression anyway, what is anyone out front really hearing of what the one on stage is doing?
11. Perfect. Always good to hear the other side of the argument
12.
Looks like Bart to me.
Can't understand why the Barts apparently are unfavoured - if you believed some reviews on t'net it's like Modulus went to the pound shop for the Funk's pick ups Bump for a lovely thing
13. Hi all I'm considering a compression pedal, but can anyone advise how effective they are on one's sound once the bass is fed through a band PA set up. Almost all the gigs I play are through said band PA with house sound engineer tweaking sound etc.. So there'll be a degree of compression added to my sound by the sound engineer right? as he feeds through the PA? My question is how noticeable would the settings I use on my compresor pedal still be to the out front sound? Cheers
14. cheers - yes must get it the right way up
15. how do i get the picture straight!!? aargh!!
16. This is a lovely bass, plays so well - guessing people have read about the build quality on these (TRB BOY is a particular expert on BC if ever need more info)... What can I say, it's not quite my sound, yet I really rate this very highly. Made about 2010 I believe. Hand made German construction which is flawless. Has a few scratches in the body, but only basic play wear. Two of the signature dots came off. BUT....the necks on these are amazing. Active/passive 3 band eq in active mode Glockenklang preamp Comes also with a white pearl pickguard One tiny issue only, the jack plug seems to take a straight jack cable better than the right angle headed input jacks - don't know why, but the right angle ones don't sit so well in the socket. I think the jack is slightly recessed - yet it's very solidly attached. 17. best of luck Stef - write back
18. If there were pics I'd believe in this a whole lot more
