7. Totally out of the loop as have been happy as larry with my TC Electronic but perhaps fancying a change for a bit more of an old school sound, (as much as poss with sold state) anyone have any opinions on the current affordable ss Ampeg range?
8. ah, some experts online! I know it's pretty self explanatory, but occurs to me that in passive the Basic has no eq - does any of the knobs do tone control?
9. Sounds like cramp But interesting question, being self taught, never had any taught input into how best to hold/play bass - you see some players with it up around their neck, some slung low, anyone with thoughts on advised alignment of arms, wrists etc?
10. Hey it's a pearloid one - rehearsed with it tonight and such a great growl and perfect in the mix.
11. Hi Ghost Bass - some people say that Thomann are probs best for Bergs price wise: http://www.thomann.de/gb/index.html also Guitar Guitar in the UK stock http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/ as do PMT http://www.pmtonline.co.uk/ and of course look out on here for some great bargains!
12. I owned a JM4 two years back and sold it - regretted it because the playability of Sandberg basses is amazing. I think that zero fret makes so much difference. So now have a Basic - off e-bay, £450 - bargain - my only thing, I'm not a big fan of their looks, ie. the four dot graphic, but the sound and feel is Sooooooo right. Pick guard is white, as don't care much for the weirdy triangle/heart shape thing the Basic's have. So that's off!! (#fussybugger) Glad to be back in the club
13. Just got myself one of these - I would have had this but found one a little closer to home - great basses. Really articulate and punchy, lightweight, amazing neck. Sandberg = quality. Come on someone!
14. Really enjoyed that Clarky, and an almost victorious pose from yourself at the end - yes they only featured the bass player's mug twice, but the second time was the closing shot!! Yey!
15. Great mojo comes with this bass - I bought it off the forum here. Unsure of its absolute history, but well played for certain! I think the pick ups on these sound like nothing else - great bottom end and a perfect jazz type scoop going on that gets gutsy and growly. I have another Roadster, so this has to go for other funds. You can see it's had a pick up attached to it at some point, but it doesn't affect the playability or sound one bit. Adds to the undoubted battered appeal of the thing. The fretboard edges are a litte worn in parts, but the frets have good life in them. I will consider sensible offers around the asking price. Also willing to drive a sensible distance to meet buyer, or will post in UK, (reluctantly), at buyer's cost. Made in 79, this is well and truly in the the vintage market, and affordable!!
