Gigged mine last through the BC410 - great on stage sound and from what I heard of the other bands using it, great presence out front -
Total thumbs up from me. Gigging with one for past 6 months now (plus BC410) and cuts through anything no problem. Run it flat, no EQ, perfect (and lightweight).
Yep I have one - run it flat, plenty of power, and grit if you want with tube simulator

-
My band has a gig offer at the Night & Day in Manchester (on a Tuesday night ) - anyone local to the area got any comments on the vibe of the place? Good gig?

Valves for Fender Bassman - with less high gain??
Jigster replied to Jigster's topic in Amps and Cabs
no I know, but I'm enquiring more about the signal of the valve once at a high volume - how valves differ and which might be of a less high gain nature?? I think the prob lies largely in the input gain tho, as Thinman posted -
Valves for Fender Bassman - with less high gain??
Jigster replied to Jigster's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yep you're right - I think I have been overdriving it - BUT, still feels a little fizzy -
I'm currently using two EHX 12AX7's and a 12AT7 as my pre-amp valves. They drive the amp fine, but I wondered if there were any I can use that are compatible to the Bassman, that will allow less break up at high volume and offer a cleaner sound. Paired with the two basses I use which both have quite hot pick ups, the valves can get a bit fizzy. I realise these things are probably marginal at the high volume stage, but this current combination tends to break up a little too much for my liking. Any suggestions/thoughts welcome and pricing would be an issue so nothing too tope end please.
I spread my love between Blazers and Roadstars equally! I'm still hurting over missing out on Psycoandy's lovely white PJ Roadstar; everytime I think of it I get a lump in my throat Anyway, bump for this! Truckstop
Played my '79 Roadster through my 1980 Fender Bassman last night in rehearsal. Perfect. (Not my playing - the combination) Bump for the Blazer.

Hi Classrock, from Chapelfields
Ah, Coundon. I went to Coundon Court School. I was born in Styvechale but grew up in Allesley. I left Cov 30 years ago, I only went back twice, very shortly afterward. I never want to see the place again after what friends tell me it's like now I hope it's not as soulless as they say.
Nigel - your friends sound like so many typical Coventry detractors who need to get out (in Coventry and open their eyes) more!!! You could never describe a city as inventive and creative as Coventry, pop. currently 350,000 (inventing the bike/being centre of watch and weaving industry/centre of car industry/host to a diverse arts industry/host to a multi-nation and multi-faith population, with over 200 different languages currently spoken in city schools, AND the best goal ever scored in an FA Cup Final, 1987!!) as soulless. It's the usual thing of beauracrats, architects and politicans making decisions about the city to create what is, yes, a hobgoblin of styles and quite a lot of concrete, but there's no chance the city is soulless. Sounds like you're due a trip back - you might be surprised what you've been missing out on!! This has been a public service announcement for the COVENTRY Liberation Party

Does this have an ebony board? I have a Musician that's from the the Re-issue models from early 90's - it has a very slim neck, sometimes feels a little too slim - how's the neck profile on this one? Strangely the pups on yours are not replicated on my RI - ie. no visible pole pieces, I think they're just diff pick ups altogether -
