4. Got this beauty, it's a bit beat up and has LOADS of mojo, but we don't really get on. I don't know why - For P Bass love I always go to my Ibanez Blazer - and so I think if there's someone wants to trade, then I'd be up for it. Matching headstock, custom metallic color and natural relic appearance and tone make this a proper bargain. The P-Bass special was one of the first active electronic basses. They didn't make huge amounts of these - so they're not common. Like I said, it's an active bass with passive option. Treble, vol and bass in active mode, and tone and volume in passive. Maple neck, great CAR finish and a gold pickguard that previous owner(s) put on. Has a thumb rest to go back on also. To my knowledge, all parts are original - bought from Andy Baxter bass. The active sound is massive, with truckloads of p bass thump. Frets have a good life span. Neck is straight. It has no case, but I can include a gig bag. I would say that it's reasonably heavy, so no poorly backs should apply. I am interested in Warwicks, or Jazzers, or MM...with possible cash my way where relevant.. Pics below....Thanks for reading...More pics below... 11. cheers guys - also can anyone advise me what this wire does ? It's the remaining wire from when the body was stripped of all pots and pups etc. It goes back towards the bridge - what role will it play when the new pots/jack get installed? cheers
12. five at the mo - had more than five but culled some - that's something i love seeing on this forum btw, the way BCers say "got six, seven, eight, nine, ten etc..BUT I'm trimming it down guvnor, honest" - like, what IS this guilt?
13. cheers outshined should i use it even with a humbucker? as i guess hb's are strictly hum cancelling??
14. Can anyone advise me on what's best for shielding and where to buy - I'll be putting pups into an empty body, so starting with nothing essentially cheers
15.
Someone was looking at EBMM forum about the new snake oil coated roasted necks and came across Big Poppa who is actually Mr Sterling Ball and comes across as a total knobcheese and having a go at his own customers. Some people think thats OK others decided to go and poke him with a big stick (Tino!) who got banned and all traces removed from the pages, everyone else carried on slagging BP off until swanbrook dropped in on our site and wasnt happy, some ate their words while others retreived the used stick from a few days earlier (Tino!) and started wafting it about again! Others since (me included) have filled swanbrook in on Tino's antics and he has started to accept that not all of us are as bad as it might look. I think thats about it really?
Eastenders?
16. what is this thread ABOUT? I don't get it..ie. there's TOO many pages to page through - anyone up for a summary?
17. yeah bound to be a line check - we played one last month locally and bass rig was shared - to keep it to time they'll unlikely want people hauling their own rig on each time
18. cheers gareth - yeah the bottom end is amazing but there's so much clarity with it - really understood today about how instruments and cabs and amps all collide and make sound - the feel of the cab today doing it's thing at volume compared to half using it in the back room was so marked
19. links the two channels - more drive
20. Spent the day recording today - got time for a quick snap of the Bassman astride my Bergantino - grrreat sound, warm, full and punchy through a RW jazz
21.
No 21st on my 1989 L-1000 either! I shall be putting this up for sale shortly, if anyone's interested...
got any price in mind?
22. can i extend this idea of the stock pups a little, cos I often think what would be the best p bass pick up to achieve Stranglers sounds a la JJ - but I'm guessing when he first made that sound back in 77 etc he would have been using stick fender pups - so by that logic, is it about eq both on amp and bass to get that driven raw sound and working with the original stock gear..?
23. yep not sure how it acquired the gold pickguard - came that way, must add to the weight cos it's metal!!
