really frustrated tonight - just gigged at a pub venue, proper venue as in has had bands on for years - full band and vocal pa and sound guy all in etc - (but only one monitor which ain't good!!) but in spite of the scarcity of fold back we did a great sound check, cud hear drums, guitar, bass all as one - but, and this has been the case every time we've played there, the actual gig sound never matches the soundcheck, ie. the nuances evaporate, suddenly the drums are a pale thud and all i can hear is bass and no guitar - so we're up there, first song, and i can't hear anything apart from me singing and this rich lush bass sound from my Berg cab and LM head, which is great, but suddenly it's like i'm playing in a bubble: where has the guitar gone, why can't i feel the drums, why do i feel like the last man alive!!? and there's no point asking the sound guy to give me more of this or that in the monitors cos there's only one!!! and it's bang centre of the stage it was busy in there, but not heaving, so altho a sound check in an empty room will differ to a room filled with punters two hours later, i'm still mystified at how it can sound so good and then be NOTHING like it when it comes to the gig anyways up, anyone else, get that?

I do know that Tone is sometimes my best mate, and other times I hate him and will only refer to him as Anthony -

I took a look at that forum he started mouthing off on - personal hate of mine that music forums are used to destroy someone's character cos the OP can ALWAYS have the last say, and always plays it large like they're the big man -behind the safety of a keyboard and relative anonymity!! Proper men do it face to face - but BC already knows that. Power to you Gareth. -
The Yamaha BB and BBn range is pretty exhaustive as seen often on the forum - loads of BB models out there. This is a workaday unflashy budget model. Nice natural finish and sweet rosewood neck. The tuners are excellent - listen, it's a Yamaha they don't make s***!! The BBN5 is a good start up for 5 strings, it's why I got it, and it plays nice. Good neck, straight and loads of wear in the frets. I think it's about 10 years old - diff to date Yamahas - the pick ups do a job but an upgrade will bring out its natural tone which acoustically is actually pretty sweet - alder body, passive, some scuff marks. Good balance on strap. The jack plug is just a little recessed, but the lead goes in fine and solid. Needs a restring. Can post at buyer's cost or meet within reasonable distance and petrol money PICS ON THE LINK BELOW http://s1009.photobucket.com/home/Jigster2010
From a strictly economic point of view, eighties Fenders are the way to go now to make some profit out of your money
This is kind of my thinking also - cheers for all responses

Help!!! have taken pics on a reg digital canon, and exported from iphoto as smallest jpeg quality and smallest pic size and the uploader keeps saying the file is too big, ie. Attachment space used 100MB of 100MB and a red cross. Really stuck as I have used the uploader loads of times and it's been fine with how I've done my photos - is there a fault running right now per chance? Ta
I think that "outtoplayjazz" is right. I think that Classic and Cool prices of the late 70's bass guitars are on the high side , but I think that the 80's instruments are closer to current prices. I have met Mark from C&C and he is a great , Honest guy, I think that his instrument descriptions are " true " to the instruments he sells. I have played the 1977 P bass in question ( among others ) as I was interested in buying it ( always fancied white ) when I picked it up I was excited as it is a super light p bass, but when I played it accoustically there was no body resonance at all, very thin sounding. Plugged in it was the same story, all very trebbily sounding with no bottom end. In my opion that bass is very over priced, Mark does have some great bass guitars but you do need to try them before you buy. But I'm sure someone will buy it in the end. Yes the white 1977 white p is in fantastic condition in a desirable custom colour but when you play the bass it is not a £2K Bass. But Mark has done all the leg work of importing most of his instruments and
that's a really good insight Chris, the acoustic temperament of a guitar is always important

there's an 83 sienna burst on there that's 1,195, what do people feel re. the price of that? this is what got me thinking about this thread, i have a special from 1980 and the build quality is great and the neck so true - there must be some gems out there
