There is no best make of strings, just the ones you're happiest with.
I'd echo this. I personally love Fender flatwounds, though i've read that of people wouldn't touch them with a bargepole, so horses for courses i guess.

Squier Vintage/Modified Jaguar Is Here
silentbob replied to Circle_of_Fifths's topic in Bass Guitars
Finally picked up my replacement bass yesterday and............it's a belter. The string problem is non-existant on this one, they run down the fretboard equally and sit across the pick up poles perfectly. The strings themselves seem to be different to the last set, not silked, and don't feel as rough to the touch. Both the control knobs work fine, with no accidental movement of the volume when the tone is moved, and to boot it was beautifully set up straight out of the box, with perfect string height and intonation. I guess the lesson here is, no matter how good a reputaion some products have, the odd one is always going to slip through QC. Anyhow, i'm just glad it's all sorted now. -
So, the Mrs has got the hump with you for having too many basses and you're willing to PX for another bass. Love your style. Best of luck. (with and sale AND the explaining to your Mrs)
Ahhhh, the Encore's for a project, so will be in bits for quite a while, keeping me quiet and out of her way, though i will be expected to shift something else when it's finish to make room for it.

Moving this on as the Mrs is getting a bit arsey about the amount of basses hanging around the place. It's in good condition and is a good player IMHO. I've fitted Warwick straplocks, but will include the originals and will also include a basic, but functional, Stagg padded gigbag. Here's a link to the features of the bass. http://www.gak.co.uk/en/vintage-v900-active-bass/7258 Looking for £60 (collection/meet up only at this point) or may consider trades or p/x on an Encore P Bass or an EHX Neo Clone or Soul Preacher pedal.
I have to confess that though he may not appear the most technical or chop-driven bassist; if I had to, I'd sooner spend an extended period listening to MM (Mike Mills) than the other MM... or many of the other 'clever' bassists!
Agreed. Also, love his voice on this track, although he doesn't sound like i thought he would sound, if that makes sense.

This is the body i'm looking at buying. Seems a good price, just a bit of a pain buying from the U.S. if there's anything wrong with it. The guy has good feedback so i may just go for it and hope for the best. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=121261

Does anybody have any experience of these bodies? Just wondeering what the quality is like.

Bought a P body off Wayne, great guy to deal with, and somebody who cares about the people he deals with.

Bought a Big Bass Muff from CJPJ. Arrived in superquick time and was in mint condition as discribed.
I'm selling my EHX BBM after six months as I really have no need for it with my Orange Terror Bass. Perfect working order - I've used it around 10 times in total and it is complete with all packaging and pretty much looks like new. Based in KT12 Walton on Thames if you want to pick up. Cheers Christian.
PM sent

Squier Vintage/Modified Jaguar Is Here
silentbob replied to Circle_of_Fifths's topic in Bass Guitars
After returning my bass to the shop, and not hearing anything from them for two months (i know, but what with xmas, and being in and out of hospital i just didn't get round to calling them), i finally got in touch with them to see what is happening with my bass. The response is sort of good and bad, "The Fender rep has had a look at it, and is of the same view as us (this is the quality that is to be expected from a bass in this price range), but he is willing to exchange it for you, although he has said that the replacement might not be any better." I can't get over this comment, and will definatly be writing to Fender UK to see what their view is on this. Also, they annoyingly can't get hold of a replacement until February. -
Hi, having a bit of a clear out. first up is a left-handed, black Encore precision body. OK condition, with a few knocks and scrapes, and appears to have had a strap button fitted to the lower horn at some point. Not sure what the body wood is, but it seems to be solid, not ply. I haven't been able to get the tone and vol knobs off, so it's possible they may have been glued on. £15 Next up is an almost full (no neckplate) set of well worn gold hardware from a right handed Encore Precision. Includes, 4 x tuners & bushings, 1 x rectangular string tree, 2 x strap buttons, 2 x tone/volume knobs, 1 x bridge and as many of the original screws as i can find. This lot would be ideal for a cheap relic project. £10 Lastly, a Stagg padded gigbag, basic but functional, with one front zipped pocket. Looks a bit eighties, but in excellent condition. £5 All items are priced for collection, but i will post at buyers expense. Paypal accepted if fees paid. Thanks for looking Rob

Dunlop Nylon 88's are my standard pick, but i do go up to a 1mm from time to time. I've tried to like the Tortex types, but the lack of flex makes me feel like i have less control when playing. In times of emergency though, when i can't lay my hands on a pick, i have been known to use the sim card from my mobile.

Received this today, thanks Jon.
