1. The Okto Nojs sounds interesting but it's just too big for my small board... i have several other dirt boxes for combo sounds .... Gotta be a smallish footprint octaver for my needs.....
2. Blimey!.... That was a BIG read! (....and I skipped a few pages! 🤫) Fascinating & very informative, as always .... If you need to explore opinions on bass kit... this is the place! So, throwing my bit in... I've used the EBS Octabass (old blue one) for many years & been very happy with it.. My pedal board is shrinking & it is now the largest one on it! So I've been looking at alternatives with a smaller footprint. The world has moved on!... so much choice.. Thanks to some investigation & mostly this thread!... I have a new short list. 1. MXR M288 Bass Octave Deluxe Pedal - not really much smaller but I'm impressed. The knobs look good! (Growl, Girth & mid button) 2. MXR M280 Vintage BASS Octave - emulating the OC2, I guess.. nice small footprint but don't really want the 2 oct down 3. COG T16 Analogue Octave - That filter sweep looks interesting for some quirky different sounds 4. EBS OctaBass Studio Edition - slightly smaller footprint than the old blue one & a bit different in the control department 5. Markbass Raw Octaver - nice & simple operation...... I thought I was down to a two horse race... but then I read on! There's been much talk about some of these but any more information/experiences about the Markbass Raw (how much is this?), EBS new version & MXR 280 vintage would be gratefully received. 🙂
3. Mine's a 2015 model & the only mod is a hip shot d tuner ... Classic sound, really happy with it.
4. ....for the most part..... I use the smaller rig more often than not 😊... 🤖🍌👻🌚👽

Quite right.

In one of the series (Restaurant at the End of the Universe?) the notion is also expressed when he says that the question of Life the Universe and Everything and the answer to the question of Life the Universe and Everything can not exist together in the same time space continuum because they cancel each other out.

One of the stories told of a race of beings who believed that the universe was the product of a sneeze from a great mythical creature.  They lived in perpetual fear of the coming of the great white handkerchief.

Of course your common working philosopher might have other ideas...

17. Thanks for all the suggestions .... I eventually went with the LaBella extra light Flats.... The gauge fits exactly with the nut... & although I was unsure if I'd get on with a set so light,39 - 96.... They actually feel great & sound perfect.... Maybe try some Nylon Tapewounds another time... These will probably last for ever on this bass though!..
18. If this doesn't go.... I am also interested.....
19.
Confusing post, inasmuchas tapewound is the term the Americans use for flats. Do you mean nylon tape wound? I have the Picato Black Nylon set on a 5-string, and while the set is 50-105 plus 130, they feel really light. Remember some of the thickness is taken up with very light nylon, and the windings have almost no effect on the tension of the string.
Ah yes..... indeed, I mean Nylon tape wound.... I have added that to the original post now..... thanks!
20. I recently purchased an Aria FEB fretless acoustic bass (affectionately called a 'febfluffen' on TB) I would like to put some Nylon tape wound strings on it but I'm not finding it easy to track down a light enough gauge to fit the nut slots without having to file them out... LaBella do an extra light set of flats (760FX) which are 39 - 96... but I can't find any tapes lighter than 750N - Light .050 - G 1 .065 - D 2 .085 - A 3 .105 - E 4. Execpt the 'Beatle bass' set for a Hofner Violin fit.... Any suggestions? My febfluffen!.....
21. I used to have an AG500 & now have a TH500.... I miss the mid controls on the 500 & the 'magic buttons' (deep & bright) ...Thinking that the 700 will be similar to the old 500 but with more headroom... The reason I got rid of my AG500sc is because I kept tripping it out when running at 4 ohms... The protection circuit was way too trigger happy.... couldn't resolve it, so moved to the TH500... A nice amp..... with the 'Aguilar' tone but not quite as warm as the AG in my opinion. Still at over a grand, not sure if I will go for the 700!... If Aguilar made lightweight SL 2x10's ...I reckon 2 of them with an AG700 head could be my dream rig......very portable... & a choice of 1 or 2 cabs for different venues sizes. The new SL 4x10 looks good but again, VERY pricey.... I can't really justify spending almost 2 & a half grand on a rig, for the level of gigs I do, when it isn't absolutely perfect for my needs... I am a big fan of Aguilar though.....
