1. Hi all My Dad and I made an Ampmaker amp over Christmas and absolutely loved the whole experience. We now want to look at other projects and I really fancy making my own on board three band EQ and preamp (perhaps with a couple of switches for extra stuff too). The patient bass that it will end up in is a Cort GB74 so a U-retro would drop straight in but we are dead keen to build something. Does anyone know of any guides plans or kits we could look at? Cheers! James
2. Probably not the sort of thing you're after but for a cheap 'Jack of all trades' amp, I don't think you can beat the TC BH500. It's got dirt if you want it, spanky cleans if you don't - spectra comp for added fatness, tube drive and tweeter tone. Boat loads of tonal options!
3. SOLD This is my VM jazz but now surplus to requirements as I have a jazz coming in on a trade! Maple neck. Blocked and bound - nice frets and great action. Sounds great and the weight is really good - not too heavy at all, very comfy for my regular three hour rehearsals. Only a couple of minor marks, otherwise in LOVELY condition. £175 posted in the UK. I'm in London on business Tuesday so could bring it down with me too... Cheers!
4. Deposit taken. Hi all, My previous BG250 went faulty so I received this yesterday. Only taken out of the box to test it works (it does!) and back in the box as I no longer need it! So, full two year warranty (amp shipped as a replacement from PMT so they have all my details) and basically as new for a tasty discount! Cheers, James
5. Yeah, IMO the design is a bit of a pain - you have to watch SC as it'll cause clipping - 12 o clock is quite high, I use a dab, usually not over about 9 o clock and find that's loads!

Grab an Alto one from Gear4Music. Silly cheap and two year warranty. Done!
7. Almost impossible to prove or disprove but yes a dramatic change in extremes of temperature could cause it but my money would be on a sudden shock - enough to travel down the neck and cause movement enough to break the lacquer. Edit - were the strings detuned? And was the hard case one where the neck is actually put under tension when shut?
8. Smoooooth buyer! Top man, thanks mate!
9. Pics now added (properly, sorry I don't know what happened there!)
10. Could sell it (you'd get about 150) and buy a TC BG250? Not perfect but light and reasonably loud.
11.
When we supported Showaddywaddy a few years ago we were very surprised to see they had a rack of Squiers. Not sure what to make of that but there's a joke in there somewhere i expect.
<punt and dennis> SHOWADEHWADDEH! </punt and dennis> Probably not much call for that joke these days...
12. No problems, but worth a search on here, lots of people with the same experience (and not just them to be fair)
13. Just a note to the seller, do NOT use Parcelforce as regardless of what their site says you will receive no cover at all if the instrument is damaged - regardless or hard case. Oh and they're sh*t too.
14.
I was asking BRX to clarify, please don't speak to me in that way.
It was meant as a friendly dig in the ribs, as I hoped the smilie indicated. If I have caused offence then I offer my apologies.
15. Well the replacement should hopefully get here tomorrow or Friday so fingers crossed! My. BH500 is back but I've got man flu and gavebt been up to testing it.
16. I'm chalking this one up as agree to disagree I'm afraid Milty
17. Actually, some good news - the best way to clean a speaker is to get a small dog to urinate on it!
18. Go to Tesco/Sainsbury/Whatever and buy 'Walnut Oil'. It's fantastic!
19. Oh yeah, looks like it's gone. Damn.
20. Agreed, don't wet it with anything, just dab off the excess. Dogs. Yuk.
21. Grab one from Thomann.de? They are only £38 or something daft!
22. Back in your box Wayne - that's twisting his words It's a fair point that 'mainstream' music shops often stick to Gibson and Fedner plus a selection of pointy sh*t that the majority of buyers would at least recognise. BG, BD etc. do brands that I've never heard of with my status as 'enthusiastic amateur' - it's a different market but I know if I wanted to check out a whole range of instruments regardless of what was on the headstock, I'd look to one of those shops.
23. Not at all fussed really Hiram. My ideal trade would see a decent wedge of cash in my pocket but am happy to look at passive and active and J-a-likes too.
