1. But it's an auction, so it's not a bargain until the gavel falls ;-)
2. In my opinion, if you like the tone of the OTB (bearing in mind it does have a tone of its own) then it's a clear winner. I loved mine!
3. Trouble is, with a beefy drummer and/or unsympathetic guitars, the worry is you won't hear yourself well on stage. Orange Terror Bass for the Win
4. Having briefly played the CMT15, there's no way it's giggable IMO
5. Meant to add, massive preference goes to a buyer that can collect / meet up if at all possible - I'd rather avoid posting if I can, you know how couriers are!
6. Wowsers, what bass is it? Going direct to UPS will allow you to up the insurance, but that's likely to be crazy expensive too, I'm afraid.
7. Hi folks, For sale due to really needing the cash - otherwise this would have to be prised from my cold, dead hands ;-) Bought from jimbobothy from this very forum (and a fine gentleman he is too), this AWESOME Fender Jazz. It's a genuine Marcus Miller neck which has had a different decal added (no reason to doubt Jim) and this plays beautifully. The body is a two piece allparts job, the pickups from a Jap Reissue Fender and the electronics are CTS. The Badass is fantastic. Here's a link to the full for sale ad he posted: http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 In terms of changes since he had it, I've re-done some of the wiring as there was a little crackle that developed shortly after, that's now sorted - it's had a new set of Rotos and a bit of a setup and it's an absolute monster. I'm selling it without pickguard as that's how it looks best. £275 firm, collected from Halifax or I might be able to arrange postage. I can also meet up in the car for a bit of petrol money as I do get about a bit. Enough yakkin', here are the pics. Seriously folks, don't miss this - I know everyone says it, but this is genuinely a stunning bass and well worth a LOT more than I'm asking, I just don't feel right making a profit, so am passing it on for what I paid! 8. Well, that's an interesting point - I've not really tried. Might pick up an EQ pedal and have a go, my amp doesn't really have enough adjustment to avoid it getting too much - I think I need a more specific EQ and will see how I go. Cheers!
9. Probably not worth the grief - shame, it's almost perfect but ain't that always the way?
10. Hi folks, I've just bought a GK MBE 410MBE-II / 4 - it's a 4x10, light as you like and very efficient so it's LOUD! I'm basically happy with it with one exception, I'd prefer it to have a little more authority in the low end. So, IN THEORY, could porting the (sealed) cab help with this? Next question, would I be able to pay someone to do this? I have a cab that is almost but not quite perfect, I'm trying to avoid the need to flog it and buy something else when I'm hoping a small adjustment could allow the low end to get a bit more oomph to it - the mids and highs are just great! Cheers, James
11. I should add that having seen this in the flesh (wood?) that Jim is being VERY harsh when describing the issue. Wouldn't bother me for a second - it's a credit to Jim that he's being so honest and upfront about such a tiny issue.
12. Bump! Offers considered - delivery possible around the west midlands too as I'm up and down that way a lot at the moment.
13. Provisionally can I have this? Might even be able to collect! Thanks
14.
They do listen to bass players, they listen to the ones that helped them with the toneprints, experienced known players with big reputations. Who would you listen to?
Depends who they want to sell one to. Personally, as a semi-pro pub gigger, I'd listen to the opinions of OTHER semi-pro pub giggers over, ahem, 'superstars' or minor bass celebs. Don't get me wrong, the BG250 is a neat little amp but I think it's a swing and a miss as it just doesn't have enough 'go' in it for your typical Dog and Duck gig. There's volume, but it's uncontrolled and flabby.
15. MONSTER amp! £145 buys 400w of power! I've installed it into a rack sleeve which is included. All working great and sounds fantastic, with enough power for any scenario! Collection from Halifax or I can arrange a meet up as I do get about a bit
16. Could be something to do with them being lifeless planks ;-) Actually, I think they sound dire BUT do work well in certain band contexts where 'cut' is required.
17. Yeah, they are fantastic - I change roughly every two months if gigging regularly and they sound great. It's not Tom Jones to get a dead string (particularly the E) in a pack but I've had the same problem with some other brands costing five times as much, so I don't really see that as an issue.
18. If you can get that for sensible money, it's a belter. It's not particularly hi fi, or even bassy but a good solid tone and would cope with smaller gigs too!
19. Nope, that was the one - the Barts were great but I've popped in my pickups so it sounds closer to my 'number one'. Love it. Thanks!
20. Yeah, that's the one - it's a lovely bass. I've actually just popped a set of awesome pickups I had lying around into it to see what difference they made. You can tell it's a quality bass - it's indistinguishable from the USA model in terms of build, the neck is awesome and having a Badass is a bonus! Cheers, James
