Apologies if we have had a thread like this lately but I felt the need to give some love to a few bass (/guitar) shops who have really impressed me with recent purchases. 1) Bass Direct - as ever, helpful and speedy replies to queries and the most laid back and trusting in-shop experience to try whatever takes my eye. 2) Promenade music - quick response to FB messages with pics and weights of a couple of basses, including an honest admission that one of them was a back-breaker 3) Fair deal music - again super-quick FB response to a request for pics and a better deal than I would have got if buying from them via Amazon (product was not listed on their site). Well done to everyone in the MI industry that’s delivering this sort of quality service - I can’t imagine it’s easy with all of us stuck at home with no gigs and nothing to do but (browser) window-shop!

I’d say that’s largely the new string effect. They’ll dull down pretty quickly and become more consistent. Shame though, as I LOVE the sound of new strings!

It literally gets NO better than this. Basschat at it's finest! I rather rashly bought something from Anthony with absolutely no idea how to get it to 300 or so miles across the country to me. He could not have been more helpful, packed it all up - videos before during and after and it's here in super-fast time. Absolutely fantastic - thank you so much mate!

I spend most of my time around frets 3 to 7 but it’s deffo starting to get too wide when I pass the 5th. Curse my small appendages 😂

Hi folks I’m STILL struggling with the move to a five string, but do want to persevere with it - my Woodworm is a lovely thing but I really don’t get on with how wide the neck is as my hands are quite small. Not knowing much about these things, is there a brand that is known for a slightly narrower neck when it comes to five strings? Some look like the width of a floorboard and I have no hope at all! Thanks, James

Well, I figured it's always nice to receive shiny things, so have gone with 'lets give it a go'. Given people were spending a LOT more than this on the RH750 up until recently, it can't be bad! Now I just need a cab so I can give it a try

I'm certainly happy with the sound of the RH750 - and for £350 it feels like a deal, but if I could get more power for the same £££ then I'd likely be swayed.

What do we think folks? Primary consideration is POWERZ!!oneoneone, can more beef be had for £349?

Was that the one that was on eBay? Had it in my watch list so you did me a favour! I think it looks great, but given the whole style the lack onboard preamp was the thing that stopped me hitting the button. Good score!

Probably correct, but its one of the recent-ish made in China basses that are not in the same league as the Japanese Tokai of old.

Will give that a go! Dont have meths but wonder if baby wipes would do it? Ideally don't want to wreck the coating but perhaps that's what's coming off!?

It did! Mercifully the original finish was a weird kind of varnish more than paint, and was flaking already - came off fairly easily in the end!

An Aria IGB something or other! The preamp is excellent...very powerful and tweakable. The new Wilkinson machine heads do the job but are a bit 'creaky' so will try some goop on them to loosen them up a bit.
