1. Hi folks, I'm looking to sell my Fender Modern Player Jazz - it's about 5 months old and in good, but gigged condition so the odd mark here and there as you'd expect. £285 collected from me in Sunny St. Evenage or St Albans in Hertfordshire! A total bargain - these are £400 everywhere now and fabulous basses, with SO much chunk! Cheers, James
2. Where are you? Perhaps another set of ears are what's needed to give you an opinion? Also - I'd seriously considering putting something in the chain to remove the ULTRA lows - Ashdowns can sound good, but too much happening below 100hz and they don't sound their best. Cheers, James
3. I'll take the Multicom model MDX4400 if you can get it to me soonish? Cheers, James
4. Hi folks, Ideal for bass or PA applications - plenty of go! RMS Figures: 350W - 8 ohm 600W - 4 ohm 1200W - 8 ohm Bridge 2u in decent condition! Heavy so collect only or £15 postage! £125 - a LOT of power for not much moolah! Cheers, James
5. Aye, it is! You take a bit of a gamble with these, the rubbish that some of the Chinese sellers flog is just frightening but it's an attractive thing and plays well. The pickups are MIGHTY hot - too hot, in my opinion!
6. Hi folks, This is my 'Fibson' Chinese Les Paul. Actually a really nice guitar but NOT the real deal, so we are clear! Looking for £225 or a trade - let me know what you have! Based in Stevenage/St Albans for meetups/trades! Thanks! James
7. You got me! I turned it round just to see...then realised it was actually a wiring difference...doh! If a buyer prefers, I can pop it back round the right way before it leaves ;-)
8. Hahaha. Well, there is the 'nibs' - the bits of the binding that would normally go over the end of a fret on a Gibson, don't on this. There's not any Cavity shielding, but actually can't say it's noisy as a result. The wiring from the switch to the pots has a plug connector joining the two together too. I'm not a cork-sniffer but it's a fair representation of a Les Paul but deffo not the real thing - neither, should I add, is it priced as such! Cheers, James
9. We use these and they are BRILLIANT! The point of them is that they are supposed to be RIGHT by your ear. Use them like that and they are just great.
10. Hi all, For sale as I have just left the band that I play guitar in. 15w Vox Pathfinder with Reverb. Sounds fantastic - it really does have that Vox sound in a tiny package! I can post anywhere in the mainland UK for £10 on top or you can collect from me in Hertfordshire £60 - still in warranty with Digital Village. Thanks, James
11. Hi all, After an accidental slip of the 'buy it now' button, I need to clear some room and find some cash! 1). Westfield 'Strat' - this is a belter of a guitar, the setup is just great! Plays really well and sounds the part - have sanded the heastock ready for a decal or even to be left blank. It's pink! Looks great on stage, have gigged half a dozen times so may have the odd scratch here and there, nothing major. Elixirs fitted! £50 2). Ashton Acoustic - Now READ ON - these are belting guitars and this a fantastic example, built in tuner, LOVELY setup and fitted with new Elixirs. Only £50. Sounds and plays great! I am in Stevenage / St Albans Cheers, James
12. I had a fairly lengthy go with the 550 and had very mixed opinions. The good news is that it does have more poke than the little giant series, so I think Ashdown are telling it how it is when they say the power section is a major step forward, also it has more legs than the Ampeg PF500 which I had (and had major reliability problems). That's the good stuff. The bad was that the inherent tone was not to my liking and I found the EQ section very frustrating. The build quality also felt very cheap to me, all sharp edges and iffy printing for some of the labels, the Ampeg and Orange gear feels a LOT better made, for what that's worth! Anyway, it strikes me that the power section bodes well for the future models that will ultimately replace the MiBass but for now, it's not the amp for me.
13. Last week I bought a rack EQ as I was curious to see how much difference it would make to my tone when gigging. I used it last night with total roll off of 25 and 30 hz, nothing else, and the difference was immense - tighter, more focused sound and way more volume available before the speaker could be feel the pressure. So impressed, and well worth the money! This makes me wonder why more amps dont have sub sonic filters fitted to take out the frequencies that cause rumble and not much else? Cheers James
14. Yep, marked it as 'avoid' and have moved to GK heads now, touch wood, they've been fine! I think the PF500 has issues but there are those that have had no trouble!
15. Same proble mine had. I'm beginning to wonder if there's a real problem with these!
16. Unless there's something wrong with it, or you haven't set it up right, that head through those cabs should bring down small buildings!
17. Hi Derek, They are good starting points for projects. Typically the pickups won't be amazing and sometimes the setups can be woeful, but they are a cheap way into bass ownership and with a few modifications they can be perfectly serviceable. For £50, I'd suggest you can't go far wrong. Thanks!
18. Am on the mobile version so don't know your location, but if you're anywhere near me in Hertfordshire then you're welcome to borrow one of my 15" cabs on a night I'm not using them, to test for real?
19. Just speaking personally, I'd get the refund and buy something else entirely. Once bitten and all that...
