1.
Surely does look pretty! Whats the wood and whats the finish - looks like flat varnish or wax?? Does it come in a case? is there any damage/marks? Whats it sound like? Any good unplugged?? TTFN Pete
Hi Pete, The wood? Absobloodylootly no idea but apparently it's flamed sycamore! The finish is a flat lacquer which looks just beautiful. No case and no damage - the guitar is really pretty much as new, it also has the scratchplate which is not shown. The sound is fantastic, unplugged it's nice and clear with a decent amount of volume but obviously quieter than a full on acoustic - that said, it's the perfect late night strummer volume! Plugged in it's astounding, the pickups are excellent with a full sound without any hint of the muddiness that humbuckers sometimes give. Hope this helps! Cheers, James
2. Hello all, After a rather rash purchase of a new acoustic, I now need to fund it by letting this go. Such a shame as it's quite literally the nicest looking guitar I've ever owned. It plays fantastically too, nice setup, good frets and sound stunning. It's an Ibanez Artcore model. Looking for £250 + postage. Would prefer that it was collected. I am going to Bristol tonight (WEDS) so could drop off somewhere along the M4, otherwise collection from Stevenage in Herts please! Cheers, James
3. Arrived yesterday, thanks! Unfortunately it doesn't fit! Argh - totally my fault...idiot boy. So, anyone want this? Will do my own listing shortly. Cheers, James
4.
Well I have got my new replacement and first impressions are that it is no louder than the first one, I have not tried it with the band yet but I dont think it will be powerful enough to play with fingers only, I will see at the next rehearsal . Maybe 300 Watts is not powerful enough for a rock n roll band ??
Whereabouts are you? I reckon a second opinion is in order. If SG1 is part of your post code, PM me as I'm only down the road! Cheers, James
5. Now on a 'best offer' jobbie on ebay and will post at cost!
6. Hi all, Got this left over from a previous PA incarnation. Seems to work fine. Looking for £40 posted if that sounds fair? Or £25 collected from Stevenage in Herts. Will get a pic if anyone is that interested. Cheers, James
7. Hi all, In a need to fund new monitors for the band, this must go. As new, Fender Vibro Champ XD 5w valve guitar amp - but UPGRADED with JJ valves in both the pre and power amp positions. Sounds awesome, far better than all the other 5w wonders that are about in my humble opinion. £150? Cheers, James
8. Ace chap, bought a bass from him, which arrived safe and sound - good comms and a nice guy! Thanks Cheers, James
9.
As opposed to popping in around 5.45pm reeking of Hamburgers and waffling on about grabbing a bottle of Tescos finest????? Maybe thats what I've been doing wrong all along! Worst service ever has to be Musicmaker in Dublin.
Ah, you see I've had great service from them...might it be the English accent and they think I must be rich? If they only knew the truth.....!
10. Sarah....just PM'd you re: something to hopefully make you smile!
11.
Now that's what I'm talking about
I do believe that's a shot from the Notting Hill Carnival and that sound system or one similar is often located on the side of where I used to live during Carnival weekend. I can feel the headache just looking at that pic!
12. Hi Sarah, If you'd both do that then we have a deal? That sounds good to me. Let me know! Cheers, James
13. Sarah - before you commit to my deal, check out Bass Merchants post, he has an Ashdown MAG 300 and 4x10 for £150 each. Not trying to put you off my amp, just giving you a heads up as I know you like your Ashdown stuff. Cheers, James
14. Morning ladies and gents. If it's not too much trouble, i'll let you know this evening then? The lack of case does put me off a bit, especially as I can't really afford to add anything to buy one but let me ponder and i'll get back to you either way tonight if that's cool? Cheers, James
15. Karl (and Sarah!), I'm 99% sold on this idea, but does yours come with a case (I'm a lummox, so guitars HAVE to be cased around me) - if so then it's a done deal, if not then can I get a case for this shape do you think? Cheers, James
16. It's quite a looker...! Does it have a case? I'll have a ponder as i'm allergic to 5's but this could make me change my mind a bit. I guess meetup would be the only option if the trade went ahead...unless you have a case and are happy to post....?
17. Feels good, dunnit! Still a fair chunk to go, but I'm happy enough to allow myself a treat for now! I'll have a think about the acoustic, I do need one but would really prefer a 4 in an ideal world. Do you have any pics of it? Does it have a case? Cheers, James
18. Not really...I've managed to take a big bite out of my debt pile, so I can afford to be swayed by something shiny! I don't need an outright sale. Thinking guitar/bass/amp rather than effects or anything similar. I was actually going to mention this head in your thread but decided it might be too blatant. Suffice to say this would fit the bill very well! Cheers, James
19. Just to add some balance, I regularly gigged with a Behringer head - the one that's a copy of the Ashdown MAG. It never let me down, I got brand snobbery something chronic and replaced with an Ashdown which let me down three times with three different heads. There will always be 'friday afternoon' examples, and I agree your chances are higher with some brands than others but it doesn't mean you ALWAYS get something shoite. I would echo the comments about buying used, you'll get so much more bang for yer buck! Cheers, James
