1. You'd be incredibly lucky to find one - those that buy them, love them! And they've only been available in the UK for a month or so. I love mine to bits! Gigged it tonight through an Ashdown 2x10 and 1x15 setup and it was su-perb!
2. Just (seriously, just!) got back from a very smooth deal with Colin. He's a seriously nice guy and the items are excellent. Very much a recommended seller, thanks again Colin!
3. Yeah, that'll sound sweet on Tears in Heaven. I found with the treble rolled off, and picked very close to the end of the neck a passable upright tone could be had. Cheers! James
4.
Nice tone, sounds like a 15" would, to me.
That'll get a rise out of Alex
5. You'll always be your own worst critic (and rightly so, or you end up like Prince or Robbie Williams) so don't sweat it too much. One thing, if you don't look like you're enjoying it, then the audience won't - keep smiling even if you think it's going badly and try to interact with the crowd, almost EASIER when there's only a few there. Another thing? Go out, as a band and watch other bands - you'll pick up LOTS of things to do and lots of things to avoid. To be honest? It sounds like a bad gig, but you got through it and I count more songs on that list with positive feedback than negative, so you're on your way. Write it off, learn what you can from it and move on. A good three piece is always an exciting act to watch - give 'em a show!
6. Grand, just let me know when you're ready Si!
7. I'll echo some of the comments here, your Peavey TNT is a good, solid workhorse, but it's not an amp for getting the best out of a bass. I'd certainly look into trying some other amps, just to see. For grins, take your bass to a shop and plug into something TOTALLY different, say, a Markbass and see what you think. You may not care for the Markbass tone (or you might love it) but then might find something that you feel differently about. In my opinion, and not saying this applies here, but I'd always prefer a GREAT amp with an acceptable bass in preference to a STUNNING bass through an average amp. Cheers, James
8. I've just moved away from GK. I really liked the tone, sounded awesome but I could not resist the temptation of an Orange amp. I'd happily get another GK though, I thought the build (Backline Series) wasn't perhaps the best (plastic jack sockets etc) but generally speaking I've nothing but positives to heap on the brand. Cheers, James
9. I've also owned one of these and can say that even when mine was working, it didn't make the kind of hum you mention. I think it could be symptomatic of further problems. You COULD try one of those extension leads with a built in Power Conditioner to see if that improves things, but from what you describe, I think there is an issue with your particular head.
10. Yep, you never know, someone COULD have been about to make an expensive mistake.
11. Deffo sounding like it's not quite right, I've had this too with a BadAss before - a quick go with a ROUND file (although this may be contrary to advice elsewhere) and it was sorted. I don't think V shaped grooves are good, the string will not be in contact with enough of the saddle, vs. a rounded shape. Cheers, James
12. Now, where have I seen one of those before - ah yes, that's right, I had one for about 0.3 seconds! Reading this makes me regret getting rid of it, but I've gotta say I'm an average fretted played at best, fretless is a step too far! Great GAS!
13. This has been posted before, I think, with a general "don't touch with a barge pole" warning
14. Yep, that's been round once already, I'm amazed it hasn't sold....
15. Start a project guitar! Leave your main gigging bass alone, but pick up a cheapo project - you can invest some time and energy into that without risking your main axe?
16. What's wrong with it now? If you struggle to answer this then leave it alone
17. Bear in mind that some of the reason stuff looks so expensive is because the pound is crap against the Euro!
18. Bought my Squier VM Fretless. Excellent comms and lovely people to deal with!
19. I wouldn't ever call the Distortion 'full on', although I play quite weak output basses. I'd say 'tube warmth' would be more accurate, if a little cheesy!
20. What about two 2x10's? I've often thought this is the best of both worlds really....portable and for smaller things you can get away with just one. Cheers, James
21. Big long review in the reviews section matey. Three word digest? I like it!
