What's the feel like? I tend to find playing Steelies is like having strings covered in sandpaper, or have I chosen badly in the past?
-
Hmmm that's me convinced enough to try a set...I'd settle for 4 gigs! Thanks Muddy

What's the theory behind the NYXLs? How do they differ from the normal D'ads? Hard to tell from the marketing speak!
-
I did once...didn't make any difference

Funnily enough, I'm the same. Swear by them on acoustic but for bass I was left very disappointed and at nearly £45 a packet they should be frigging amazing!

I wonder if I need to try Elixir again...my last experience was pretty poor with the 'E' dead right out of the packet

Hi all I realise this may have been done to death but given my requirements might be different to others' I figured it was worth an ask. I ... Like... New Strings (and I cannot lie)! I really like the sound of new strings (Nickel rounds being my standard) but after one gig or rehearsal mine go totally dead and lifeless. Are there a particular brand that retain that 'just stepped out of the salon' sound of fresh strings? Or do I have to resign myself to taking out shares in Rotosound and just replacing them when the thrill is gone? Cheers, James

DEPOSIT PAID: LAKLAND SKYLINE SERIES 44-60 (VINTAGE Jazz Shape)

Hi all, Picked this up in a trade from Bobby D of this parish. It's a great bass but I've just been and bought something I shouldn't (when does the GAS ever end?!) A lovely bass with all the 'oomph' and grunt a good Jazz should have. Condition is pretty good but being minus the scratchplate there is some 'slap rash' as you'd expect. Scratchplate is AWOL but pretty sure it's a standard shape (don't quote me on that). The neck on this thing is heavenly! Just restrung with Fender 45-100 and good to go.

They aren't the cheapest but I can recommend Hoxton Macs...bought a few bits from these guys

Hi all Could anyone offer any advice on these? I realise they aren't perhaps regarded as 'real' status as I don't think there's any graphite in these at a, but are they good basses and is there anything to watch out for? Thanks in advance, James

Hi all, So, before anyone gets confused, yes it is this one! Purchased from the rather lovely Dolando only earlier this week - it's a beautiful thing and plays and sounds great however I was blinded by the beauty and now I've realised that I need to get a grip on my spending. So, a trade or part-ex is possible but a sale much preferred! Full details on Dolando's excellent FS thread and naturally it's in exactly the same condition as it left him but now located in Worcester so less chance of getting stabbed if you come to collect it bonus! Here's pics: Any questions, just yell! Cheers, James

Wireless PA controlled remotely by tablet

Thanks all. Ill give that a go. I wasn't rebooting the unit before switching to Ethernet. Perhaps that's where I'm going wrong! Helpful as always - ta! -

Sorry for the thread hijack but can any of you Xr16/18 owners help with why ours doesn't retain the IP address settings when connecting to an external router? Connect via built in WiFi on iPad Change to DHCP (not 'S') Click Apply Move switch to Ethernet Connect iPad to router SSID And the XR18 never shows up...scanning IP addresses on that network from another device doesn't even show it on a random address/range. Thanks! -
Bought a case from this fine fellow! Smooth deal and good price. Recommended!

Once did a trade with Colin for some Ashdown gear, told him he was undervaluing it and offered more money but he wouldn't take it. Top guy. RIP.

Thanks Phill - are the Studio spares ones good? They seem jolly cheap...?

Haha I am well aware that reading from anything is largely frowned upon but with a set list of 60 songs for a recently joined band to learn I've got no choice, my kebab-addled brain won't recall anything at all these days...
