As said, it's imperative to pick up and play the bass. I'm sure that any of the pro bass builders on here will tell you it's easy to make a badly made expensive bass and also make a well made cheap bass .
Spot On. I have a Mexican Jazz which is superb and wouldn't sell it no matter what. I have played some really sh*te US models. Got to play it........
Van hire £60.00 from Chorley and and about 12 gallons of juice = £100.00 approx and I'll drive.....worth a punt ? anyone got a spare garage at the moment ?
My thoughts exactly. Van Hire from South Manchester , £40, 12 Galls of Juice £60 and empty the contents of the garage into a skip £100. Should still be some profit. -
Can't remember if the pots are sealed but even spending a couple of mins winding them to and fro could do the trick. If there is an opening neephoid is right, get some servisol. DON't use WD40. The great thing is it is actually a Passive set-up with the active pre-amp stuck after the Vol/Tone arrangement so if worst comes to worst the pots can easily be changed. Not sure what you mean about the Tuner issue. I have a pretty compehensive "spares" box and may be able to help. Here is the description of what the switches do. It is actually pretty simple. Volume, Treble (Boost Only), Bass (Boost Only), 3 Way Switch for pick-up selection. 2 Way Switch for Series/Humbucking mode on pick-ups. 3 Way Switch for Passive/Active/Active with Treble Boost.

Gumtree seems pretty good for occasional bargains. I got my L2500 in absolute mint condition, new strings, strap-locks and hard case really cheap.
Hello mate, I knew the neck wouldn't be jazz-type, but went to see it anyway. Glad I did - it's dirty, with old strings, but has no major issues, with a dead straight neck. Yes, the neck's wide, but it's relatively thin and comfy enough. Lots of knobs and switches to try to understand. I thought it was a real bargain, so I bought it. While I was there, I saw, played and took photos of the Aria. So, if out7shined could pm me with your email address, I'll be able to send some pictures. Steve
Good Move and welcome to the wonderful world of G&L. I have a schematic of what the controls do if you want it or you should be able to get one from the G&L Web-Site. What colour is it? Maple or Rosewood neck?

Let us know how you got on Steve. Neck is certainly not Jazz Like but they are awesome Basses. I wouldn't part with my GL2500

There was a similar thread looking for the tab/transcription for Hit Me With Your Rythm Stick, which I was happy to oblige. I ended up posting the transcription as a number of BassChatters were after it. Maybe a good idea to do the same with this. Part of the tab/transcription is in a book called "The R&B Bass Masters" and includes work by JJ, Duck Dunne, Chuck Rainey, Jerry Jemmott, Tommy Cogbill, Bootsy, George Porter, Ronnie Baker, Willie Weeks and David Hood. Same deal as SISOM with a CD of the tracks. Someone suggested that it might be an idea for a new section on BassChat for transcriptions/tabs. What do you think Mods? -
28 is definately not a milestone Stuart! Your wife must be dillusional... i want one! (the bass or the dillusional money throwing wife, either is good for me!)
Getting the bass is probably the easier bit Mrs BB never does the expected. I got a party on my 46th Birthday. Not sure why but it was a helluva do...... You obviously sussed out that I have been knocking years off now, hence now the ripe old age of 28.
