Thanks for the offer ahpook. I'm not too attached to teh samson, but i'm trying to leave behringer stuff alone for the moment (no offence). Does anyone know an online used PA website? Thanks Robin
Hi Robin, don't know about used but try Soundsavers. They will provide good advice and they have a lot of ex-display and B Grade stuff.
Doesn't turn on and it is in a few pieces at the mo but if you think you can fix it you can have it for postage.
Hi Wayne, I'll pull the trigger on that if you don't mind. We already have one so it would be useful for spares. If you can find out the cheapest way to get it Manchester way, let me know and I will sort the postage out.

When I fitted my Thumper I spoke to Andy at Wizard. As it was a complete build up from a donor Bass he suggested using different Pot values and Capacitor. May be worth having a chat and see what he says. The Thumpers are certainly hotter than standard Fender, (and I assume Squire), pick-ups.

Hi NS, I can really empathise with your situation as I had a similar 25 year sabatical, but as a guitarist. When i took up playing again, I switly moved to Bass and will neve go back to guitar. I looks like you are going down a similar path and I wouldn't normally put my "10 Penneth In", but you have got some really good advice from BassChatters and you have obviously done the right thing by joining us........ I know there are some Behringer Fans on the forum but I went a similar route as you are thinking and it was the worst, (and most costly), mistake I made. Behringer DO make some good products but I had massive problems with mine and was treated like a leaper when I sold the stuff. There is some really good kit on here at the moment. Not sure if BigD still has the Neo loaded Ashdown ABM115 and Carlsbro head still for sale, but that was once mine and is bloody awesome. Pretty light, ply construction and has your trousers flapping like a good un. The head is one of the last British made ones before they shipped production to China. The other suggestions above are really great and you will obviously get More Bang for Your Buck by buying 2nd hand. Electronics are pretty realiable these days, so you shouldn't have a problem. Good idea to stick with the Bass until you know what you want. Not sure how many I went through before I stopped looking at the Basses For Sale section, but it is a good few. One make that really impressed was Cort. As well as making for Lakland/G&L/Fender and i believe some Ibanez products, they are fantastic instruments. Very well made and they have "borrowed" some of the ideas from the production lines of the Big Boys. The GB74 is awesome. As ever this is only my personal opinion and at the end of the day it is your money and your choice. Good Luck and I hope you don't end up doing as much "Wheeling and Dealing" as I did to get the set-up I craved.
I 3rd that. The basslines for Talking Heads are always tight.
Yep, Tina Weymouth and she can dance at the same time. Oh and Yolanda Charles

I had a 5 String Kingston Heir which was awesome. J/MM pick-ups and after having a Bart pre-amp installed it was really sweet. Trouble is when I got "Marvin", it wasn't being used so it went to a new home. Fabulous value for money. They do come up now and again on e-Bay. Just kep an eye open. Shame the £ has collapsed against the $ as Bass Central in USA do great deals on MTD.

Making a boring bassline more interesting?
BassBunny replied to arabassist's topic in Theory and Technique
The 2 best pieces of advice i ever got were... 1) It is the silence between the notes that make the notes.... 2) Whatever you are thinking of playing - Halve it. It does kinda work. Sometimes dead simple bass lines are the answer. -
Lakland Skyline production moving to Indonesia
BassBunny replied to EssentialTension's topic in Bass Guitars
I would forget about about which basses Cort make for who and try a CORT. They are probably the most underrated instrument available and have "borrowed" a lot of the features from the other lines they produce, eg the switching from G&L. They are fantastic instruments and I would rate my GB75 against anything comparable from Lakland, G&L, Ibanez, Fender etc. All of who they build for. -
Also wondered about the Zoots, which seem to have a lot of what I want, but I can't try any,
I've got 2 Zoot 112's. Not the Neo ones. I notice you are North West based and I am in South Manchester. If you fancy trying them, more than welcome.

Hi Peter, Some interesting choices but you will certainly get "more bang for your buck" going 2nd Hand. Ibanez is a good choice and also have a look at the Cort range. They make a lot of Ibanez guitars as well as G&L, Lakland and some Fenders. Massively underrated. In the interest of pushing a sale. How about: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=28919&hl=Aria If I was still playing 4 String basses this would not be up for sale. It has one of the nicest necks i have ever played and the 3 band EQ is fantastic. But as I only do 5-String these days, it is sitting around doing nothing. Gives you a spare £100 as well.
